I'm in love with the world. And the mud, wind and rain won't stop it.

A female domestic cat with a light-brown fur looks directly and fearlessly into my camera as I take her photo at a closer range.

Captured on a village street in Subic, Zambales, Philippines.

I took some pictures, then got a few steps closer, took a few more, got closer... repeat until he was filling the frame.

Only flowers and nature in this period :-)

This arrogant looking brown thrasher hopped over my toes while heading to his regular perch close to the suet feeder.

I bought this flute in the eighties on a trip to New York City. I've played it in bands, orchestras, flute choirs, kirtans, and now in an improv group. Improvising makes me fearless.

I am grateful for my flute.

I really wanted to use this pic of her.

On a most memorable and wind filled evening, I had a square mile of Iceland beach to myself. I began to walk and saw that the sand had odd designs on it, much like the whole beach had been woven on a loom. When I made it to the water's edge I saw the wind make patterns on it I could never have imagined. After staring at them for a while I started back. The most prominent thing now in front of me was a torc-shaped mountain. Sort of fitting, since the bold crags and sweeping hills of Iceland adorn it much like jewelry. Above it was a cloud that seemed to be rushing toward me with the vigorous wind. Yet the position of the mass never seemed to leave the mountain. Later I found that it in fact spun upon the top of it like an airy grindstone. I kept thinking about standing at the center of the mountain's crater watching the weather whirl above me. It was too far to walk, but were I that bird, I'd be flying into the storm too.

Try staring at the bird, the clouds begin to move. And to recreate my evening, blast the biggest/coldest fan you have at yourself and put Marrow by Yob in your earbuds.

Description: I thought that it might make a refreshing change to start off the new year with a photograph that is not square nor a Vertorama.

When Andre and I recently spent the day shooting at different locations around the Cape Peninsula, we ended up on the rocks in front on the Slangkop lighthouse near Kommetjie. We still had a few minutes before sunset, so we both wandered around the rock-pools looking for interesting angles and compositions.

The tide was low, but it was rising and every now and then a slightly larger than normal wave would break, sending me scampering for higher ground. Not Andre though... whenever he noticed such a wave approaching, he would merely make sure that he had a firm footing... and take it head-on! :)
