Anna's hummingbird (Calypte anna) is a medium sized hummingbird (3.5-4.5") native to the West Coast of North America. The reddish throat and head of the male looks dull brown or grey when not in direct sunlight. Seen in one of the garden beds at the San Diego Zoo.
Conservation status: least concern
After sitting for a good minute on this snag, I decided to approach slowly up to this fella and he did not flinch and just looked to the left, right, and stared at me like i'm not afraid of you! Love it when they just relax still for you :) Click for expanded view.
These flowers are booming in my garden, a bit like Ireland after the 90s before Europe happened in the 21st century. I love the darker purple hues that are very much set aside from the rest that are pink and white. by the way, I do not weed my garden, I have this mindset that all things can live there, the assumption of what is and is not beautiful is not subject to my own determination of what can or cannot live there.
Many "weeds" have flowers and flowers are aesthetic, these people who have uber neatly cut lawns, weeded areas and only grow what they determine is beautiful in my view extrapolate from a narrow minded judgmental personality of the sort of person I would never wish to share a moment with.
But with that said I love all you guys! So I hope everyone is well and as always, thank you!

I was by the lake, looking for _something_ to shoot, when this spotted towhee landed in the blackberry vines near me. I turned and took shots as it posed for me for about 10 seconds, then moved on.

I was high in the mountains trying to capture the sunset. The weather was cloudy and the sun was setting gradually into the sea. Suddenly I saw: the fearless traveller.
Out on a walk in search of hares again, I heard a commotion going on over in some dense woodland, a Jay was making a racket and another bird was squawking that I couldn’t make out what it was, as I scrambled through thorns and sticky buds I finally saw high in the branches of a huge ash tree this baby tawny owl, it was one of 2 they just stared back at me nonchalantly, let me take my picture and watched me leave, not a care in the world, I wish I could be that layed back.
Haven't been out much, having Charlie every day now for the rest of the summer (at least). I hope all have had a great week. Off doing stuff today, will catch up later.

Again a classic point of view of a classic subject. It seems I like it the classic way ... Since I am on Flickr I learned that it is perfectly fine to imitate other photographers .... the variation comes through imperfect imitation ;) The title and quote I took from a Pink Floyd song, I like the lyrics. Hope it works with the image, for me it does. Just a tryout.

An Owl taking off from a fence post as it spots something in the distance. Was such an awe inspiring scene and I was lucky to get at least a half decent focus and clarity on this one but a lot of noise I am afraid....

The smallest of the five greenie babies, who either fell or was pushed out of the nest & now resides on the dead snag next to it. Hopefully the parents will continue to feed him.
It looks like they have no fear of heights, these cows above Andermatt in the Swiss Alps. In fact, their pasture won't go down too steeply, it is just from above that it looks like an abyss!
The larger village Andermatt is almost completely hidden from view here (that is the place we were descending to) and further up the valley you can see the village Hospental. Both places are situated in the Urserental (the name of the valley). We are close here to the famous Gotthardpass.
