SALVATION THROUGH FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST - ALONE!

12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."

❤️❤️ IT'S ALL JESUS AND NONE OF OURSELVES! ❤️❤️

16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the SALVATION of everyone WHO BELIEVES: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel a RIGHTEOUSNESS FROM GOD IS REVEALED, a righteousness that is by FAITH FROM FIRST TO LAST, just as it is written: "THE RIGHTEOUS WILL LIVE BY FAITH." (Romans 1:16-17)

16 KNOW that a man is NOT justified by observing the law, but by FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be JUSTIFIED BY FAITH in CHRIST and NOT by observing the law, BECAUSE BY OBSERVING THE LAW NO ONE WILL BE JUSTIFIED. (Galatians 2:16)

1. Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2. BY THIS GOSPEL YOU ARE SAVED, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

3. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4. that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5. and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. 6. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8. and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.

9. For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them--yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 11. Whether, then, it was I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed. (1 Corinthians 15:1-11)

7. Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. 8. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9. I am the gate; whoever enters through me WILL BE SAVED. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10. The thief comes only to STEAL and KILL and DESTROY; I have come that they may have LIFE, and have it to the FULL. (John 10:7-10)

1 Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. 2 For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. 3 Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. 4 Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.

5 Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: "The man who does these things will live by them." 6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?'" (that is, to bring Christ down) 7 "or 'Who will descend into the deep?'" (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:1-13)

Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!

So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

The annual transformation Minnesota is currently undergoing warms my soul. This is one of our favored spots not far from our home town. The snow melt and recent rains are filling the wetlands and invitations have been sent to wildfowl to come and enjoy as well as to set up homes for the next few months. This early morning shot caught these geese tinted with the rays of the rising sun.

First light on a September morning in the Volcanic Eifel.

I discovered this place, which is favored by early foggy atmospheres, a few years ago and I return there every now and then.

Erstes Licht an einem Septembermorgen in der Vulkaneifel. Diesen von frühen Nebelstimmungen bevorzugten Ort entdeckte ich vor einigen Jahren und kehre immer mal wieder dort hin zurück.

This is one of my favored waterfowl species to find and photograph. The pictured drake is paddling past me at one of my preferred locations to look for ducks and mergansers. Unfortunately this location as well as others will not be available much longer as the land along this river keeps getting bought up and posted with no trespassing signs. The number of birds has greatly diminished as the multitude of side-by-sides and 4 wheelers continue to increase their activity on this country road.

It saddens me to think of all the years our wildlife has had this natural habitat and now it continues to get gobbled up by man and his toys. I am so thankful I have lived in a time to see these blessings that so few are going to see in the future.

Thank you to all who visit, fav and leave kind comments. Appreciate you all.

This member of the "Rail" family resembles a duck with a bill like a chicken but acts like a rail. Previously this species was called a Common Moorhen and is closely related to the moorhen species in the Old World.

Its favored habitat is ponds, marshes and wetlands with ample thick cover that they can dart in and out of while feeding and vocalizing with a lot of clucking and squawking. When not swimming along thick vegetation they will be walking on floating green matter or on soft mud.

The population status of this species is now listed as uncommon to rare and declining in the central U.S.

This adult is finding it very difficult to balance on a narrow stick with such large feet and did look comical.

As mentioned, this area, where currents converge from opposite parts of Europe (but even, also directly, from Asia, Africa, North America, Greenland and Arctic) with high rainfall (here up to 2600mm/year) due to its proximity to the Adriatic Sea, was among the snowiest and coldest in continental Europe until the end of the 20th century.

Until the mid-1980s, in March, there was an average of 1 to 3 meters of snow at this altitude (generally above 1200m a.s.l.) on the northern Dinarides, especially on the internal slopes with respect to the Adriatic, namely those belonging to the Danube-Black Sea water catchment, given that the coastal Dinaric main range is also the main and very decentralized watershed between the Mediterranean and the Black Sea.

As many as 4 climatic zones overlap in a few kilometers from the Adriatic catchment to the Danube hinterland, which here starts 25 linear km E/NE of Trieste, that reduces to 6-10km linear along the northern coast of continental Croatia.

All this favored abundant snowfall, while the absence of the Alpine shield, whose mountain range in this area is decreasing in thickness and altitude, allowed long and icy outflows of Russian-Siberian origin currents, through the local wind called Bora/Burja/Bura, with temperatures well below zero for many consecutive days even along the coasts and snowstorms when the Mediterranean responded with the overthrust of humid and less cold masses coming from it.

Hoar frosting and hard riming phenomena were common from November to early April, with accumulations of ice crystals on the windward slopes and on the peaks, which could reach a thickness of several meters, since the Bora wind could blow continuously even for 3 consecutive weeks with averages close to 100kmph, bringing low clouds with ice crystals, rising from the soaked internal plains, every minute of every hour of every day of those phases of the weather pattern, frequent phases.

Now the weather pattern has changed markedly over Europe and this is the main cause of the mild winters and unbearable summers, also over central, western and Balkan Europe, in addition to the Mediterranean: from the Russian HP that dominated the European winters we have moved on to the continuous rise of the African HP with evidently opposite effects, and this in all seasons.

All this is now just a distant memory of a child who loved where he lived and is still fascinated by the climatic-botanical variety of this area that includes climates and essences that can be found from Sicily to Scandinavia, but he is certainly sorry that what he grew up with is no longer there, or remains only in small part, a small-great show, increasingly brief.

Marshes, open rivers, irrigation canals and lakeshores are the favored habitats of this species. Their preference is to hunt solitary so will establish some space around themselves and will defend that space from other wading birds. When not feeding they regularly perch in trees and remain quiet except during courtship and mating when they can be very vocal.

Nesting is normally a communal affair but at times will nest as an isolated pair in a tree or shrub. A mated pair will raise one brood per season on a platform of sticks style nest where they will incubate 3 - 5 eggs for 23 - 26 days. In the lean years when food is in short supply a chick may kill a sibling so that possibly one chick may survive.

At one time Great Egret numbers plummeted drastically due to the demand for their feathers to decorate hats and the feathers brought $32.00/ounce on the market which was more than the value of an ounce of gold. Their populations have recovered and they continue to expand their territories.

This adult has been preening on a perch in a tree and is now off to look for a hunting location.

Same Green Heron coming back to the same favored perch on Horsepen Bayou.

"Derrière les ennuis et les vastes chagrins

Qui chargent de leur poids l'existence brumeuse,

Heureux celui qui peut d'une aile vigoureuse

S'élancer vers les champs lumineux et sereins."

The origins of Irsina, up until 1895 Montepeloso, are very ancient. It stands on an area that belonged to the Enotri and then to the Lucanians, but, despite the numerous archaeological finds that testify that the hill has been inhabited since ancient times, there are no sources to date its birth.

In fact, a relic has been found in the territory of Iresina, testimony to the most ancient European presence of homo erectus, dating back to the Lower Paleolithic; it is a flint found outside the city walls.

In addition to prehistoric traces, the numerous archaeological finds, vases, magnogreche and Roman coins, weapons, furnishings and various memorabilia found both inside and outside the walls of the inhabited center, testify to its ancient grandeur already during the Greek Roman period . Its splendor was favored by its proximity to the Bradano river and the Herculea way, which from Venosa reached west to Potenza, east to Eraclea (now Policoro), crossing the Bradano valley.

The black-and-white ruffed lemur (Varecia variegata) is a Critically Endangered species of ruffed lemur, the more endangered one of two which are endemic to the island of Madagascar. Despite having a larger range than the red ruffed lemur, it has a much smaller population that is spread out, living in lower population densities and reproductively isolated. It also has less coverage and protection in large national parks than the red ruffed lemur. Three subspecies of black-and-white ruffed lemur have been recognized since the red ruffed lemur was elevated to species status in 2001.

Together with the red ruffed lemur, they are the largest extant members of the family Lemuridae, ranging in length from 100 to 120 cm (3.3 to 3.9 ft) and weighing between 3.1 and 4.1 kg (6.8 and 9.0 lb). They are arboreal, spending most of their time in the high canopy of the seasonal rainforests on the eastern side of the island. They are also diurnal, active exclusively in daylight hours.

Quadrupedal locomotion is preferred in the trees and on the ground, and suspensory behavior is seen during feeding. As the most frugivorous of lemurs, the diet consists mainly of fruit, although nectar and flowers are also favored, followed by leaves and some seeds.

The black-and-white ruffed lemur has a complex social structure and is known for its loud, raucous calls. It is unusual in that it exhibits several reproductive traits typically found in small, nocturnal lemurs, such as a short gestation period, large litters and rapid maturation. – Wikipedia

Petrified Forest National Park

The thousands of fossilized trunks of the petrified forest date from the Triassic (around 200 million years). The region was then occupied by the delta of a river on the banks of which grew giant trees. After their death, they were buried under sedimentary deposits rich in silica, which favored the conservation of their structure. Silica slowly replaced the plant material and fossilized the trunks. Gradually, the region sank and was buried under sedimentary strata. Its recent uprising, combined with erosion allowed the discovery of fossilized trunks.

The local name for a rise in north Berkeley containing several seminaries of which the Pacific School of Religion is perhaps the first and the best known. I enjoy walking on their small campus with its appealing architecture. For a time, I lived in the neighborhood. I guess you'd call the architecture 'Anglo-Norman'--much favored for academic buildings.

Like most owls, the barn owl is nocturnal, relying on its acute sense of hearing when hunting in complete darkness. It often becomes active shortly before dusk and can sometimes be seen during the day when relocating from one roosting site to another. In Britain, on various Pacific Islands and perhaps elsewhere, it sometimes hunts by day. This practice may depend on whether the owl is mobbed by other birds if it emerges in daylight. However, in Britain, some birds continue to hunt by day even when mobbed by such birds as magpies, rooks and black-headed gulls, such diurnal activity possibly occurring when the previous night has been wet making hunting difficult. By contrast, in southern Europe and the tropics, the birds seem to be almost exclusively nocturnal, with the few birds that hunt by day being severely mobbed.

Barn owls are not particularly territorial but have a home range inside which they forage. For males in Scotland this has a radius of about 1 km (0.6 mi) from the nest site and an average size of about 300 hectares. Female home ranges largely coincide with that of their mates. Outside the breeding season, males and females usually roost separately, each one having about three favored sites in which to conceal themselves by day, and which are also visited for short periods during the night. Roosting sites include holes in trees, fissures in cliffs, disused buildings, chimneys and haysheds and are often small in comparison to nesting sites. As the breeding season approaches, the birds move back to the vicinity of the chosen nest to roost.

Macoun apples, botanically classified as Malus domestica, are an American variety belonging to the Rosaceae family. The mid to late-season fruits grow on small deciduous trees reaching 3 to 4.8 meters in height and are an improved McIntosh-type apple developed for fresh eating. Macoun apples were released in the early 20th century and quickly became a favored cultivar among apple enthusiasts in the northeastern United States. The apples have a complex flavoring and juicy nature derived from its McIntosh parent combined with a dark red, pigmented coloring and boxy shape from its Jersey Black parent. Despite their avid following amongst consumers in the northeast, Macoun apples are not commercially cultivated due to their challenging growth characteristics and short season. The variety is only available for a few weeks each year, and the apples have a short shelf life, requiring them to be eaten straight from the tree for the best quality and flavor.

Macoun apples are aromatic and have high sugar mixed with acidity, creating a sweet, tart, and subtly acidic taste with floral, vinous, spice-filled, and berry-like undertones. Macoun apples were named after Canadian pomologist William Terrill Macoun. William Terrill Macoun, often known as W.T. Macoun, was a famous Canadian fruit breeder passionate about apples. Macoun was a horticulturalist at the Central Experimental Farm near Ottawa, Canada, from 1889 to 1932, and he was also the founder of the Ontario Horticultural Association. During his career, Macoun collaborated with other breeders to release other well-known commercial varieties, including Empire, Cortland, and Spartan. He also notably partnered with William Saunders and received honors for their work of hybridizing at least 16 varieties and naming over 105 apple cultivars.

Macoun apples are native to the United States and were developed in Geneva, New York, at the New York Agricultural Experimental Station in 1909. Scientist and breeder Richard Wellington crossed Jersey Black apples with McIntosh apples to create Macoun apples, and the variety was released to the public in 1923. Wellington selected Macon apples as a fresh-eating cultivar, and after their release, apple enthusiasts began sourcing the apples for baked goods once they discovered the fruits hold their shape when heated. Macoun apples never became a widespread cultivar, but the apples did find a niche market as a specialty fruit that is only sold for a limited season. The apples are an anticipated variety each fall in the Northeastern United States and are primarily grown in cooler climates, localized to parts of the Midwest and Northeast, such as New York, New England, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Massachusetts. Today, Macoun apples are challenging to find as they are only available for a short season and are generally sold directly through growers, roadside stands, and at pick-your-own orchards in the United States.

BTW, Catherine's favorite apple, and typically the only one's she eats...she waits patiently for availability in early fall every year. It is a great eating apple, crisp, juicy, not too sweet nor too tart, you might say perfect!

Here in central Alberta we see these birds mainly during migration times. They breed in alpine regions in open habitats above the timberline. It is often found in habitats favored by Horned Larks and White-tailed Ptarmigans.

They spend the winter in a range from the coastal and southern United States through to Guatemala and El Salvador.

Today, with the festivity of the Epiphany of the Lord, Christmas ends for another year. We were looking forward to it, of course.

This Christmas, I admit that it has been the worst of all my life, to forget. Various reasons for disagreements and family dislikes, apart from the sad pandemic situation in which we live, have not favored the fact that they have been endearing, beautiful and magical Holidays.

We miss our childhood, when we enjoyed family gatherings, visits from friends, grandparents, cousins, uncles... This year, everything has completely broken down.

We live in a cold, distant society that does not help us to be better souls, better people, more humane and generous.

In this photo you can see the movements along the M-40 ring highway at the height of Hortaleza, with a lot of movement during the afternoon, caused by the end of the Festivities and the returns to the usual homes.

Starting tomorrow, a cold wave is approaching that may leave snow in the capital for three days, we will see what the situation remains.

I take this opportunity to wish you all a good Wednesday, Three Kings Day here, and much health, happiness, love and hope.

This Anna’s Hummingbird kept our attention for quite some time during our trip to Arizona this month. We wanted to get a photo of his gorget all lit up and noticed that he had a couple of perches that he strongly favored. We set up next to one of them and waited. Several times he came and landed exactly where we wanted but only flashed his color for a split second and when I did finally capture a shot of it, I wasn’t all that pleased with how it came out. I did like this photo, doesn’t he look tough, almost like he has a furrowed eye-brow staring me down.

Early spring is announced to anyone living in or near the Barred Owls favored habitat of a dense stand of mixed forest or a mature deciduous forest with a swamp or stream nearby with the loud hooting, gargling howls and calls of a pair reinforcing the bonds of matrimony. When courtship is at its heightened peak and when raising young these calls can go on all night and well into the daylight hours. This activity can become even more pronounced on a night that is exceptionally calm coupled with a full moon. Their normal activities will find them most active between midnight and 4:00 am but they do hunt during daylight hours as well. Compared to other raptors the Barred has relatively weak talons so tends to focus its attention on smaller prey like deer mice, voles and squirrels. When prey is spotted they dive from a perched position usually on a tree branch and pounce on the unsuspecting target. From their elevated perch they are either sleeping or constantly scanning the forest floor for prey. These owls do not migrate and tend to spend their lives in a relatively small territory. One study done saw 158 birds tagged and later any birds recaptured were still within 6 miles of where they were originally tagged.

A pair will move if a Great Horned Owl moves into their area since that species is the Barred Owls natural predator.

Their nest will be a natural cavity in an old tree or an abandoned stick nest that they will add very little to except 2 or 3 white eggs that the female will incubate for 28 - 33 days and the male will faithfully provide for her while she incubates.

I was fortunate to find this adult bird in a nice autumn setting as it scans the ground for prey.

Impressionism; "a style characterized by a concern with depicting the visual impression of the moment, especially in terms of the shifting effect of light and color".

The name of the style derives from the title of a Claude Monet work, Impression, soleil levant (Impression, Sunrise), which provoked the critic Louis Leroy to coin the term in a satirical 1874 review. The name was originally meant as a derogatory term, but it was soon adopted by the painters, and by 1877 they were using it as an identifier of their style and their exhibitions.

The Post-Impressionists rejected Impressionism's concern with the spontaneous and naturalistic rendering of light and color. Instead they favored an emphasis on more symbolic content, formal order and structure. Similar to the Impressionists, however, they stressed the artificiality of the picture.

However, we photographers are obsessed with our megapixels in our pursuit to recreate the reality of a scene instead of creating images.

Added two hours more exposure time and re-processed. Favored Red this time. Not sure how well it will show, but the detail is improved. Not sure of the "circular" noise, but am guessing that it is "walking noise". If so, I can eliminate in the future by "dithering". This causes the image to shift 1 or 2 pixels every 2 or 3 images, causing this type of noise to stack out. Only a suspicion at this time. Still very new to this, so much trial and error involved:-)

From black black for yesterday's post, we go to colorful black for "Switcher Sunday", as we take a look at one of the Q's Alco S-2 switchers. The 9 Alco S-2 switchers turned out to be the only Alco locomotives on a railroad that very heavily favored EMD power for most of it's existence. Never seen this scheme in real life, but always thought is was one of the coolest anyone ever came up with. So thought it was worth sharing even though I had to dig into the collection to find something this old. So not my photo, but very unusual for me, the slide has zero information on it. I usually labelled stuff I purchased or traded, but this one is an exception. The location wasn't labelled either but doing some online research, the entire Alco fleet was assigned to Denver. And I do think it look's like Denver, so I'm going with it.

Here's another nice summery scene, featuring the neat little petulant leaf-cutter bee. His female friend also likes to visit legume flowers like this birdsfoot trefoil when she's gathering pollen for provisioning her nests. Females dig out hollow chambers in pithy plants like sumac and then make several tiny nests inside that are lined and sealed up with cut-up leaves. She flies to favored plants like wild roses, green ash trees or Virginia creeper vines and cuts out leaf rounds with her teeth that are then carried back and fashioned into the cigar-shaped nest chambers. Each nest chamber contains an egg and pollen food ball for the larvae to devour as it develops. Larvae pupate in the fall and overwinter inside the sumac or similar hollow plant stems before emerging the following summer as adults. This lazy male leaves his mate the day after their honeymoon, never to return and help with raising the kids. I can see why she'd have cause to be petulant.

Ruins of Kumurdo Cathedral stand on the background of ill-favored and barren landscape of Javakheti plateau, in a distance of 12 km from Akhalkalaki. The extensive inscription curved on the stone slab that fortunately preserved up to now tells that the threshold of the cathedral was placed in May, 964 AD. According to that inscription the Bishop of Kumurdo John has initiated church construction. Name of an architect was Sacotsari. After reconsideration of the six-apse design five-apse configuration of the church was obtained, instead of being situated radial. Western rectangular arm of the church is three-nave, with internal narthex and three sided gallery arranged in its western end. External layout of the church is cross-shaped; in response to three-partite sanctuary two triangular niches are arranged on western façade, coupled with two others, one at each lateral façade. A porch-chapel is erected in front of the main entrance — the eastern one, with a tiny shrine arranged in the thickness of the load-bearing wall. Despite of the relative simplification of the design Sakotsari has managed to preserve all integral elements of the six-apse construction and provide sufficient dynamics through trapezoidal bemas running along the lateral apses and column-like protrusions that support sub-dome sagittal arches. All the aforementioned provides general elevation of the internal space and creates strong impression of motion and charge of life.

All elements of decoration – window headers and framings adorned with light, open-work-type fretwork, a complex, large frame of the sanctuary window, cornices decorated with different images are scattered over the vast surfaces of the building exterior, faced with most accurately hewn stones. Adornment is so perfect, clear and clean that they may be perceived as the embroidery instructed on the metal surfaces. Several risings still well noticeable on eastern sub-dome tromps include images of the church construction donors – Queen Gurandukht, her brother King Leon of Abkhazs and her spouse – King Gurgen of Georgians. All of those images coupled with those incorporated in the sanctuary window decoration are plain and tabular, while the heads or possibly the faces of archangels placed in the niches and over the southern porch, on the contrary, are rounded and volumetric. Motion is sensible even in symmetrical elements – inscription over the western façade is slanted northwards, interlocked tromp-like spaces are arranged on the corners of the church arm exteriors.

Even today, with missing dome and western arm the monument is perhaps as gorgeous and splendid as it was upon the completion of its construction. The temple has got several sections that were added to its body at later times the most important of which is southern porch constructed along the western arm. This attachment of the first of XI c was initiated by Queen Marry of Georgia.

All preserved fragments of wall painting, for instance within the sanctuary are relatively younger then the building itself. It seems, frescoes of the north-western apse were performed sometime in XIII c. Western porch of the cathedral bears footprints of XVI c refurbishment. Two X c steles are erected close to the temple.

She moved through the house like a quiet melody, soft and lingering, her presence weaving through the stillness he had left behind. The rooms sighed in his absence, not desolate but expectant, holding onto the promise of his return.

At night, she stood before the window, the moonlight pooling at her feet like a silver tide. She wore his favorite heels, the ones he always noticed, though he never said why. The curve of her reflection in the glass mirrored the rhythm of her thoughts - soft, longing, but certain. The faint tap of her heels against the wooden floor was the only sound, a quiet reminder of how she filled the space they shared.

The kettle hissed again, its melody familiar, almost comforting. It had always been their ritual, the quiet clink of porcelain cups, the steam spiraling between them as they shared the stillness of the morning or the weight of the evening. Tonight, she poured two cups out of habit, his mug placed beside hers on the counter. She didn’t drink it; she simply let it sit, the warmth seeping into the air as if to hold space for him.

The chair he favored beckoned to her as always, the cushion molded to the shape of his easy presence. She touched it lightly, her fingers brushing over the fabric like a whispered hello. His scent still lingered, cedar and something faintly spiced, a tether that reminded her he wasn’t far, just away. The thought settled in her chest, a quiet ache of missing bound tightly with the comfort of knowing.

Later, as the night deepened, she let the heels slip from her feet, their gentle clatter echoing in the silence. She climbed into bed, wide but not lonely, its edges folded into the promise of his return. Tomorrow, he’d be home. She could already imagine the sound of his key in the door, the weight of his arms wrapping her into the embrace she missed most.

She closed her eyes, a soft smile playing on her lips, and let the quiet cradle her one last time. The house, too, seemed to hold its breath, knowing that the stillness was about to break - that soon, his laughter would spill into the rooms again, sweeping the quiet away like morning fog beneath a rising sun.

----------------------------- JESUS ✝️ SAVES-------------------------------

It was great fun to watch this Green Heron catch and devour a number of fish along the canal. This seemed to be the favored perch to hunt from as the bird returned time and time again to resume the hunt.

Arcadia Marsh Nature Preserve - Arcadia, MI

A photo from the archive of Enders Falls, probably my most favored waterfall in Connecticut. There are actually a series of 3-4 waterfalls, and this one is the last one of them (and in my opinion the most rewarding). It's a bit of a scramble to get to it but worthwhile the effort.

Happy Friday all!

16-June-2019: upper Vrata valley is a cirque (former glacial circle) with a typical U-shape like many other similar Alpine valleys, in particular those exposed to the north and closed to the south by imposing mountain chains that favored the almost total absence of sun for a long period of the year and shelter from the southern currents with a constant thermal inversion, yield even more marked by the same vast glaciers covered them in the last Ice Age.

The Julian Alps, despite the relatively low altitude, count 5 main cirques (with relative North Face mountains to the south): Saisera valley (Montasio-Fuart) and Fusine Lakes (Mangart), in Italy, Planica-Tamar (Mojstrovka-Travnik-Jalovec), Pišnica (Prisojnik-Razor) and Vrata precisely (Triglav-Stenar), in Slovenia; many more are the secondary cirques that appear as "tributaries" of these same 5 or independent, in isolated form and more in altitude.

I don't usually make multiple trips to see rare birds that pass though our area. However, this Black-throated Blue Warbler was special and shooting conditions were so challenging I wanted to try again.

He still favored the area we saw him in the day before and he never fully came out of the shadows but this one is a little better than the day before. Hope he has a safe trip to his final destination.

One of my most favored people watching locations in New York is Central Park’s Bethesda Terrace and it beautiful fountain the Lady of the Waters because you can watch at eyelevel or from above like this long exposure. As I related before this fountain was part of the original Central Park design of designer Fredrick Law Olmsted and architect Calvert Vaux which was the only portion of the original park design that was done by a female Emma Stebbins in 1873 who became the first woman to that was commissioned for a major work of art by New York City, easily one the parks most recognizable icons. Emma’s design of the Angel of the Waters was specifically to celebrate the completion of the new Croton Aqueduct in 1842 which fed the fountain proper and the rest of New York City to its south. The population explosion of the city also brought with it the scourge of infectious diseases that came from unsafe water. The Croton Aqueduct did a lot to stem that tide and Stebbins beautiful statue was a celebration of that.

This HDR image of the Terrace on an overcast afternoon shows the amount of activity present around the Fountain. Taken with an Olympus 4/3 E-5 with an Olympus Zuiko Digital ED 12-60mm F2.8-4.0 SWD lens using a Benro Tripod, as stated HDR of 5 RAW images processed in Photomatix Pro and cleaned up in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom.

29-September-2023

The very stable weather and high humidity favored the formation of night irradiation fog in the coldest areas for almost the entire month of September, which overall was summery throughout the entire area despite being the first month of autumn for the meteorology.

Point Fermin

San Pedro, CA

10-24-21

I posted my first processed drone photo on Oct. 17th. It was a sunrise taken from above my house in the mobile park where I live.

I took the DJI Mavic Air 2S out on a Photo Expedition to Cabrillo Beach and Pt. Fermin in San Pedro, a couple of favored local spots for my photography, on Sunday morning.

This shot of Pt. Fermin was taken about 18 feet up and out enough so that you can clearly see the lighthouse and buildings on the Point, and get the turbulent sea and the wonderful cloudscape as well.

Not bad for only my second processed drone photo.
