I've decided not to bother any more about our faulty comment box but see if it resolves itself as I gather sometimes happens. When posting new photos I will wait a few minutes to see if I get more that usual views and favours without comments. If I do I will know the box still isn't working. Then I will do the necessary to each individual photo to open the box. It is set alreaty for all to comment but they can't. By clicking the privacy icon without changing anything it works! Magic.

Thank you to those who have made me their contact. Due to poor health, eye problems and low energy I regret I can't take on any new contacts but nearly always manage to reply to your comments. Please no more than 1 invite.

Wisdom

When I have ceased to break my wings

Against the faultiness of things,

And learned that compromises wait

Behind each hardly opened gate,

When I have looked Life in the eyes,

Grown calm and very coldly wise,

Life will have given me the Truth,

And taken in exchange -- my youth.

At first glance, it may seem as though this image was taken through a faulty lens, but the mind-bending distortions visible in this impressive image taken with Hubble’s Wide Field Camera 3 are actually caused by a cosmic phenomenon.

The bright galaxies at the center of the frame belong to the galaxy cluster SDSS J1336-0331. The enormous gravitational influence of the cluster warps the very shape and fabric of its environment (the space-time around it), creating an effect known as strong gravitational lensing. Through this effect the light from background galaxies in the line of sight to the observer is bent into fantastic arcs. This effect is very useful for studying distant background galaxies.

Moreover, SDSS J1336-0331 is interesting in itself: the cluster was part of a study of star formation within Brightest Cluster Galaxies (BCGs — the brightest galaxies within their host clusters). Typically located in the centers of their clusters, BCGs are among the most massive and luminous galaxies in the universe. They are generally huge elliptical galaxies and are likely to host active galactic nuclei in their cores. The study found evidence to suggest that BCGs are fueled by cold gas from the galaxy. It also showed that star formation in older BCGs no longer significantly contributes to the galaxy’s growth; instead, the stellar growth occurs through mergers, the collision of two galaxies. Violent, gas-rich major mergers can trigger intense bursts of star formation in their aftermath.

Scouted this location before work one day, but didn't realize that the construction in the foreground would so impede the regular flow of traffic over the Wabasha St Bridge. To add to my problems, the 1st Bank Building light facing my direction was malfunctioning, so I didn't get a classic red color.

This is the first roll through a Kowa Six I bought at the photographic society camera sale. Looks ok but the camera is faulty and will costs too much to fix. I guess I've been pretty lucky with most of my purchases up until now so I suppose I'll put this one down to experience.

Not really. Friends gathered around a bonfire, but the guy with his head in his hands just screams out 'Why me?!'.

This tour hasn't had a lot of luck recently.

Cancelled last year owing to Covid and BIL slipping the year before on the Little North Western line as a result of the damp conditions and a faulty vacuum brake on one of the coaches.

Favourable pathing then, a truncated water stop, and obviously an expert crew had steadily recovered most of that delay of 75 minutes at one stage so that it arrived in York only 11 minutes down.

Already rescheduled after the strike action on the previous day and with echoes of that previous trip, this year's charter started nearly an hour down owing to a line possession issue; but again the crew and signallers worked against the odds to ensure the tour again arrived in York only 12 minutes down.

That must have been some journey for all on board, particularly those on the footplate of Ex LMS Royal Scot Class 7P no 46115 Scots Guardsman.

This was the 1Z64 09:41 Carnforth to York.

The Lune Rivers Trust was operated by West Coast Railway Company Limited (WCRC) and is seen here storming under the historic footbridge at Garforth station on the Leeds York line.

The NER designed cast and wrought iron footbridge in front of the skew road bridge dates from around the start of the last century and is a listed structure.

The skew bridge itself carries the road traffic across the railway and was designed for a never built 4 track section of line.

Today was a bit different Jackie walked Ruby and I stayed in to look after Amber as I was expecting a parcel New Boots. I am very lucky because if I order EU size 43 I know they will fit never had to return a pair for not fitting but today is not my day. The boots arrived and as soon as I saw the box I knew that someone else had tried them before me. The box was crushed no packing inside the boots and the laces were all loose instead of tied in bundles. So after a quick look it was obvious that they were faulty and as you can see one of the lace eyelets is attached to the lace instead of the boot so now waiting for instructions from the supplier as to how to proceed.

Taken with a (faulty) Diana Baby 110 camera. The shutter on this camera was stuck on "B" even when it was set for "I" which should be around 1/100th sec. As a result all the negatives are hopelessly over exposed and exhibit spectacular camera shake, they were virtually unscanable, but I've managed to rescue some very grungy images. The film is Lomochrome Metropolis, but it is hardly shown off to its best in these!

These were taken for to accompany an interview I gave to Lomography Magazine about using 110 film in 2021.
