Having now had the faulty TPWS solenoid valve changed at Hellifield and the Class 47 returned to rear of the train, Stanier designed 'Jubilee' 4-6-0 no.45690 'Leander' picks up the pace as she passes Langcliffe with the 'Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express'. After leaving Bolton 54 minutes late, she eventually made it to Carlisle 16 minutes early.
Closer look at decay on a monumental scale: The 21-story Heritage Tower, crumbling for decades in Fort Mill, S.C. (Praise be to perspective/geometry-correcting software.)

How Pixie found her way into this crazy apartment block, three years ago, is hard to fathom . It's just as well Kaiser can't find a door big enough to get in. Thankfully the whole construction was demolished due to health and safety.
Finally. Finally. I collected my faulty harddisk from the shop today and I am pleased to say that most of the pictures have been recovered. I can now look back to those photos I took 10 years ago. My 20s are not a blank piece of paper after all!
Life in slow motion - They are just very loooong. With their long shaggy fur, they live well hidden in the tropical forests of Central and South America. It takes them up to seven days to digest their fibrous food. Therefore, sloths only need to defecate about once a week. To do this, they climb onto the ground. This photo was taken while climbing back up.
I've always thought of flamingos as not only graceful, but gracious, and have been under the apparently faulty impression that any creature that was pink could not possibly have a nasty sided temperament.
But it seems it's the way of all flesh. ;-)
This is actually from last year's trip down here, I found it in the archives. But it fits with my current obsession with taking bird photos.
I've been on the road, staying here and there, doing day trips, visiting with friends and family, etc etc. and have fallen behind on Fllickr...on views and even responding to comments. My apologies.
Today is chilly and raining, so I hope to do some catch up.

Verizon is now Frontier . I'll bet we were the only folks effected. Or is that affected? The geological faults on PV are teensie compared to the San Andreas Fault. OKay... but can someone explain why driving down there is like a roller coaster ride? Never mind. I don't need to know. Song Sparrow Trumps place of golf Palos Verdes Peninsula 3799
This is my father's camera in the state he kept it (and all his tools). The cigar box keeps the accessories. The black ribbon has been cut from an old tyre. Only the self timer is faulty. Probably not a big deal if you would disassemble the shutter and clean it. The camera is probably from 1954. I do not have the invoice, which wonders me. The manual is used, but still in best shape. Only the flash has a visible crack. There are flash tubes in the box. Apparently they are extremely rare nowadays.
Since i am not doing commissions on tan latis, (because the results are tricky and imperfect, and i can´t take responsability for faulty tanned bebes), i have done, together with Carmina/ Barbievoltios, a tanning tutorial for those who want to achieve those cute sun kissed babies. I will accept commissions on face ups, but i can´t accept commissions on tanning. I have seen myself that sometimes it goes wrong for unknown reason. GOOD LUCK TO THE ADVENTURERS!

(all the tan babies i have done so far have been for free, for friends that came home and assumed the responsability themselves)

The lens may just be the best Leica ever made (28-90mm) fixed to a 17 year old 5mgp camera. Tiny faulty sensor to boot.

I had a faulty old film camera doing nothing except taking up space. So I 'broke it up' and rescued the lens. Mounting it on the camera hasn't been too difficult with a couple of spacers between it and the camera all held together with a couple of rubber bands!
There is no focussing ability of the lens. I've mounted the camera on an adjustable plate on a tripod so it is the distance of the camera to object that is varied rather than lens elements. By changing the number of spacer rings between lens and camera I can get focus from infinity, or thereabouts, down to ... for this photo about 6 inches. At this stage, I have a focussed field of view of 2 inches in width.
I'm pretty pleased, at present! I've used a lens that was really scrap and got at least an interesting result. I've also got the possibility of mounting the lens off centre, and tilting the lens. All quite exciting in their way.
And this resulting photo - I continued messing and changed the hue.

Apologies for faulty background removal.
I've always wanted to make some small Japanese houses, like Ninjago City, but I never knew exactly how I wanted to go about it. Finally, I managed to figure it out! I tried to keep it small, while still detailed. Hopefully, I can make a full strip of these if I find the time.
A recovered faulty file - it takes about five minutes to recover my files, so patience and time is needed, but this was very rewarding, even though it's not a photo you might hang on the wall - it's not 'pretty'.
One of the better abandoned tableaus I’ve seen: The Heritage Tower looms vacant and crumbling over its surroundings.
This was built as a hotel as part of Heritage USA, Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker’s Christian theme park.
The theme park was huge and hugely popular for several years, but was a casualty when the Bakkers’ televangelism empire, the PTL Club, imploded in the mid-1980s.
(Pop quiz: Did PTL stand for Pay The Lady or Pass The Loot or Praise The Lord? Answer: All Three!)
The 2,300-acre theme park was heavily damaged in a 1989 hurricane and has been mostly redeveloped for other uses in the decades since.
God called Tammy Faye home after her decade-long bout with colon cancer.
Jim was sentenced to 45 years in prison for various crimes, was freed after just five years, and is still working the crowd at age 85 with the New PTL Club, which now stands for “Prophets Talking Loud!” and focuses on the end times.
The abandoned tower may be facing its own end times: A while after I shot this image, local media reported that the county had reached a deal with the ministry that purchased the tower in 2004 to either fix it up or tear it down within 18 months.
This photo was created for the theme "Old Stuff" in The Flickr Lounge .
This is one of many faulty computer power supplies... I keep it for "spares" for later.
I have many really old computer spares stored in boxes in the shed/outbuilding.

At 0610 this morning, rumbling thunder and heavy rain woke me up. As I awoke, I could hear water splashing heavily outside my window. Looking out, the end cap to the gutter is missing and the downpour was splashing onto the garden path. My first thought was "Moving Water Theme" - so I grabbed the camera and took the shot. I can do the repair after Breakfast.
Week 31 2021 - "Moving Water".
Update: Well it looks like someone has climbed over the side gate whilst I was away for a few days and knocked the end cap off the gutter. Hence the big water leak which wasn't there before I went away. They have also tried to break into my garage and garden shed. Scum.

The strength of the ends is amazing under the circumstances. I bet that the construction was faulty around the break, while acknowledging the obvious that these barns cannot stand forever.

Poor Sabina, has a faulty leg, you can't see it under her hose, but, when I removed them it's a really bad flaw. No way you can see it until she is undressed. Bad points on MGA's quality control.
As you can see in this photo she's not even out of the box fully yet. I got her bargain price but the full price was printed on the box and I would have been livid had I paid that price.
Of course, here guarantee doesn't even cover this as it's only for the US and Canada.
Faulty Bright Tech Dot Matrix, Side or Rear Display, only the light works. Motherboard is badly water damaged and when powered does very little only the light gets dimmer.
After weeks of searching for a Desktop Replacement Laptop for the faulty one I had, I finally managed to find but but it's been a long search. I guess tablets & mobiles are the in thing & it's only oldies like me that need a large screen:) I've tried to keep up with you all as best I could but I'm back in action now & we may all need a tablet if we wake up on Dec 8 to the new flickr but not one of an IT nature!!
Have a great weekend everyone!
