About
3 days, 2 nights, 4 friends.
Road trips are fun. Shame the weather didn't provide super excellent conditions, but that's the gamble of Landscapes.
This is Sandy Beach in NSW. A little headland we found via Google Maps on the road.
More updates on the Blog to come from the trip, such as 'behind the scenes' videos.

On our walk around the lagoons that stretch away from the Waikanae River estuary, I'd captured a bit of a mixed bag of photos. Some were encouraging; some were headed for the Recycling Bin. So either the Lens had somehow been damaged, or my eye sight was failing...
As we were about to head back to the car, we spotted this Sacred Kingfisher sitting on an old tree stump a little below the path and on the edge of the river.... This was Test Time: faulty Lens or faulty Eyes???
The answer?
It was my eyes... or at least: my prescription glasses... Time to visit the Optometrist...!!! (And no: I'm not going to Spec Savers!).
Thanks for taking the time and the trouble to leave a Comment beneath this photo Folks! It\'s always nice to hear from you, and your comments are always very much appreciated...!
The heart may 'jump' once too often, it is said
from the moment we raise a thought from it's bed
eyebrows might rouse the sight ahead of it's own sound
the speed with which we are lost and preferably found
is entwined into intervals and silhouettes by sunsets
the duality of senses find an enclave before light forgets
swamped is the benevolent piece of mind, head in the clouds
seeking Sun and warmth taken up by Pine and Oak shrouds
from all this land failed to embrace let it never be forgotten
but forgive the unprincipalled leaders and all their begotten
for the Suns of evolution will shine when the time is absolutely right
and before any questions are raised when the day is out of sight
rains continue to fall this apparently peaceable day
cloud banks my mind ever further beneath the covers where I pray
for the warmth of a Summer true to bring me out of the malaise
the one that preaches as much as it disobeys
my command of rites to empower a season's trestle
as July cold becomes insupportable for Summer to wrestle
away from it's misplaced instatement, a nutcase unresolved
for it's we that'll crack first now in dire need of heat devolved
the days shrink from haphazard deluges: an unruly mob in tow
battering down our resistance to a futile mope apropos
of the nothingness now felt between showers victory chants
such weather is maddening for our routine it now transplants
give a chance and be fair when instance becomes habitual
grief-ridden forecasts dampen down what is now a long-range ritual
postponements become abandonements all too quickly
and all of a sudden the season is lost when we give in so meekly...
fight, fight, fight it, don't ever be so much as slighted by it!
for it is our life, our world, our hopes and dreams we must acquit.

This is a second look at this Nebula with a whole new Camera QHY183C a replacement for the ZWOASI183MC that was faulty. I could focus automatically with this camera hence the detail in the eye is much better than the first one with the ZWO. This camera took a bit to get use to as I had to change wires and ports on the computer to get this to run and download photos.
35 shot 10 min each till the tree got in the way.

Surprisingly 😳 the raspberries aren't on the bushes for very long once they've ripened up. Most are plump and delicious, this one might just be left for the wildlife to enjoy

So the first SD40 that Canon sent for review was faulty. For some odd reason, the camera would load up a blank screen instead of showing me what I wanted to photograph. Luckily Canon was really good about sending a replacement for me to review. The blue one is the dud, they grey one is the stud!
Getting Spammed by Evan Williams
I was at SXSW interactive when I met Evan Williams (co-founder of blogger), at the time, he still owned Blogger (I believe). We were both at the 20x2 event and was introduced real briefly by Ernie of Little.Yellow.Different. It was one of those moments where you meet someone you have admired for the first time, but really have nothing to say. I had my picture taken with him and then I pretty much fell off his radar until today, or so I thought. This morning while checking out my pj.ca account I quickly scanned the listing of newly arrived emails, among the names of obvious spammers was the name Evan Williams, with the subject line "Hi". Of course I was curious and surprised, so I opened the email right away. Of course the email was spam trying to sell me software programs like MS Windows XP Professional with SP2, Adobe Photoshop CS2 V 9.0, Microsoft Office XP Professional and 300 plus more titles. I'd been had. But I guess it means you've made it big when spammers start using your name in the sender field of emails. Thanks for the email Evan, even if it wasn't really from you.
Gay Bloggies
I found out about this last week, but was reminded about it today. The list of finalist for the Gay Bloggies have been announced and voting is currently underway. You still have till November 10th to vote for your favorites. Who knew there were so many to chose from. Obviously I've been out of the proverbial loop for quite some time, as most of the names I used to follow are not on the list. Toronto's own 2xy has been nominated in the Best Canadian Category, Ernie has been nominated in the Best Asian category and long time favorite Jockohomo has been nominated in the Best Writing category. Good luck fellas. What I find really interesting is the fact that there is a Best Body and Best Exhibitionist category. Can you hear my mouse clicking from there?
The Winter of Cleaning House
Piles. That's my current filing system. It's pitiful. I think I requested this before, but perhaps I will try again. I need a program that will take care of everything. Contacts, Dates, Projects, To-do lists... etc etc etc.. Definitely something for a Mac and something affordable. It's a surprise that I don't forget more things more often. Needless to say, I'm a tad behind, especially on emails. Perhaps I should move back to the old fashion way of doing things, on paper in a daytimer.
The 1 millionth visitor giveaway.
So lately I have been paying close attention to the little sitemeter on the sidebar. Last week, we officially hit 900,000 visits (which includes just over 2 years of stats). That means the 1 million mark is just around the corner. Realistically, that means will hit it by February or March, but hey we are hoping, that by some miracle will hit the target before the end of year. In celebration we will be doing a ton of giveaways over the next few months. (We are also taking donations on cool stuff to giveaway). More details on this either later this week or first thing Monday Morning.

A while ago my Powerbook screen started acting up... every now and then the bottom third of the screen flickers and vanishes, and the rest of the time when the bottom third is visible, a green line a pixel wide can be seen about a third of the way from the left edge.
Unfortunately, the guarantee has just ran out, and I've been told it will cost about 350 pounds to replace the screen. No AppleCare.
Oh, and on top of that, I dropped it.
The worst thing is, I cant bare the idea of being without it for any amount of time!
This is the mailbox for Rose's HiWay Diner, which burned down about 10 years ago because of a faulty furnace.
In my latest Substack post I released yesterday, I talked (it's audio - like a podcast, in a way) about my first trip into Nebraska and Kansas. I was working from memory, and memory is faulty.
I mentioned: "I entered the northwest corner of Nebraska on dirt roads. My memory is faulty here, but in Wyoming, I drove past a herd of cows bathing in a pond, then an abandoned school, which I photographed extensively."
This is the herd of cows bathing in a pond, which I said was in Wyoming. And 95% of me still thinks it was in Wyoming. I even found it on a map. But my notes at the time say it was in South Dakota.
But I think that's wrong.
I also said that this was my first outing shooting large format. That's not quite true. It was my second or third day shooting a large format camera with front and rear standards (the Intrepid, in this case). I had been shooting a Graflex and a few other 4x5s for a couple of years. Just nothing super technical.
I don't love how bad my memory of these things are. But also, I'm not sure it matters. Nobody is going to call me out on my large format camera history. And if they did, I'd just ignore it because even I don't really care and I'd think it's weird that they did.
So anyway, here's a picture of cows I took on my first month-long solo trip in 2018.
I purposely shot this with a long exposure so that I could take advantage of the prairie winds, capturing a bit of nature's movement. I'd do the same thing today. Maybe with a different lens. But you're not going to get me talking about lenses. Seriously.

"Who says mistakes aren't hilarious? These faulty neon signs and road construction signs are a riot of laughter and will bring a touch of humor to any space.
Don't let the 'faulty' label fool you - these signs are still fully functional and ready to light up your life. Snag this set before they're gone and add a touch of hilarity to your space!"

We are under a winter storm warning tonight even though it's supposed to be spring now - go figure. Tomorrow this robin will have had four snows on its tail since returning to Winneshiek County. There are only supposed to be three snows on a robin's tail in any given year according to the folks that originally wrote down this (faulty) lore.

How Pixie found her way into this crazy apartment block, three years ago, is hard to fathom . It's just as well Kaiser can't find a door big enough to get in. Thankfully the whole construction was demolished due to health and safety.
