Mercedes Document Relating to Faulty Catalytic Converters
NEWS UPDATE!
The reason they took about these voluntary recalls in the United States of America was because the United States of America took out a civil action against them!
It appears this agreement was reached in what you could call an Out of Court Settlement between the United States Department of Justice and Mercedes Benz in the USA.

Ellerslie International Flower Show, Christchurch March 8, 2013 NZ.
The 2013 show – running from 6-10 March at Christchurch’s North Hagley Park – has attracted high-quality, world-class gardens from a selection of top international exhibitors along with New Zealand’s best gardeners and designers.
The best of British – top garden designer Andrew Fisher-Tomlin and multi award-winning young British brothers Tom and Paul Harfleet – will be exhibiting. Fisher-Tomlin is also Convenor of Judges.
The expanded fashion and food elements are also bound to be a hit and mean Ellerslie International Flower Show has something to tempt people of all ages with varying interests.
Ellerslie International Flower Show Exhibition Manager Kate Hillier says the line-up of exhibits is impressive.
“Ellerslie has built a reputation as New Zealand’s annual flower show and just like the famous Chelsea Flower Show in London forecasts the latest garden design trends and plant fashions. Visitors to Ellerslie get the first chance to see the hottest new plants, colours and looks by the country’s leading landscape architects and garden designers.”
A highlight of the show will be New Zealand’s legendary Weta Workshop featuring their fantasy sculptures in one of the key garden exhibits.
The sculptures will feature in former All Black Andy Ellis and landscape architect Danny Kamo’s exhibition garden – a re-enactment of their successful entry at the 2012 Singapore Garden Festival which won Gold in a field of 15 of the world’s top garden designers. After Singapore the garden was adapted to provide a stunning native bush setting for Johnny Fraser-Allen’s ‘The Gloaming’ exhibition, curated and presented by Weta Workshop’s Sir Richard Taylor and Tania Rodger in Wellington late last year.
The amazing feature garden exhibit will not be judged, it is there to entertain and delight and an opportunity for Christchurch to have Weta Workshop right here in the Garden City.

Tyne and Wear Metro-Faulty Metrocars 4044 and 4024 are taken out of passenger service at Bank Foot as the compressor blew up (literally) causing components to overheat and to burn and smoke.
The faulty cut must be in the upper part. See next.
Otherwise I can't complain about the quality, even if the pieces are thinner than the old Dutch MBs.
Faulty Ilfosol 3 turned my negative into an almost transparent film…
Which led to some interesting pictures in the end ;-)

The faulty crane at Hotel La Tour site has been dismantled after the fault the previous day caused traffic problems in the City Centre.
After 5pm. From James Watt Queensway.
By the time I was about to go home the crane had been fully dismantled. and it was back on the lorry, down on Albert Street.
I wonder if they will replace the malfunctioning crane with a new one. As I don't know when construction on the hotel will resume.
This car was driving along the motorway with two brake lights permanently on (as shown). The offside brake light was not afflicted by this electronic malfunction.
When the driver did actually brake, the nearside and high-level brake lights went out and the offside brake light illuminated!
This would fail the MOT test.

Weird colours, not without some artistic appeal, but not what was intended for an elderly relative.
It seems the LCD is damaged. To the credit of the seller, a replacement unit arrived within two working days of filing the problem with them.

My brand new mac had a faulty command key that simply popped out of its socket after a week of use. Support request rejected by Apple engineering claiming physical damage.
This photo and three others were attached to the support request filed by the local rep (Ample India). Despite this the ticket at Apple's end had it down as a damaged Backspace key - my request was rejected without reviewing the data. I was told I'd have to pay about Rs. 15,000 to have the entire keyboard replaced.
Escalating this to Customer Relations got things sorted to the point where I have to pay only the service charge of Rs. 1,500 but only because my Mac was brand new.
The same thing has happened to at least two other people I know with Apple rejecting their support requests. See twitter.com/reavno/status/19333835531
Due to a faulty club Kayak being supplied I had to pull out of this weekends sea kayak trip... less than a mile in and the skeg jammed fully up so was too dodgy to continue with a fairly strong tailwind so I pulled out of the paddle and went for a bike ride instead!!!...

Q. What happens to a Royce Thompson NEMA Rotaloc photocell socket after 11 years normal use?
A. It falls apart like this.
This socket formed part of an RS photocell kit, part number RS 571-439. Ironically, the photocell itself is fine, but the same cannot be said of the socket. I noticed that the photocell seemed very loose in the socket during routine maintenance, and after removing the assembly, found that the plastic housing had sheared away totally on two contacts, and partially on the third.
This suggests some form of materiels/manufacturing fault, and has been caused by repeated thermal expansion/contraction of the metal contacts against the plastic casing. The cell was mounted in a sunny location on the side of a building, hardly an abnormal situation for this kind of device.
Needless to say, it is not satisfactory, as the photocells themselves are designed to last up to 20 years, and the socket should easily do 40. It is also a safety hazard, as the plastic casing is no longer holding the contacts in place, so they could form a poor contact and result in arcing, heat and even an electrical fire.
I've contacted Royce Thompson about this via both email and letter, but so far they have declined to answer.
Their website has a datasheet for this socket at: www.roycethompson.co.uk/pdf/ACCESSORIES.pdf
This has the rather amusing quote: "The durable engineering polymer body houses Beryllium copper contacts which provide excellent wear properties for long service life". Whom are they trying to kid?
I now have a Zodion SS6 photocell installation, which appears to be of much better quality.

State Senators Tim Larson and Cathy Osten told federal Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson that Connecticut residents need an immediate and massive infusion of federal aid of about $1 billion to repair their crumbling foundations, or risk losing their homes. Sens. Larson and Osten took part in an hour-long roundtable discussion at the Tolland Fire Training Center with federal, state and local authorities in hopes of convincing federal authorities to offer assistance to the nearly 1,000 Capitol-region residents who know or suspect their home foundations may have been made with faulty concrete. Secretary Carson said he would bring Connecticut's concerns to President Trump and the federal EPA "to help them understand the magnitude of what is going on." (June 4, 2018)
Swollen/Puffy faulty EG30 LiPo battery from Motorola Droid Mini (XT1030). It still held the charge, but at half the capacity. Due to the swelling it began to lift up the LCD screen assembly (basically the phone started disambelind itself...) from the phone chassis, which was the primary indicator that something ain't right. It was replaced by OEM EG30 LiPo from Aliexpress: goo.gl/4qdFtc
After having a faulty 300mm F4 VR come through I had to look at a second option for a lens for my holiday and for my girlfriend and Mum to use. I decided to opt for the Tamron 150-600mm for it’s low weight and lower cost and also get a Sigma 150mm Macro so I have a dedicated Macro option too.
I had my first outing with the tamron today. My girlfriend also shared it’s use but while we had a look around the local duck pond. It was a nice spring day, Chiffchaffs singing, a Wren nest building and Lambs in the fields. After that we headed back through town and stopped at a spot where ducks are fed although the pond it’s self is fenced off as it’s part of a factory. However this mallard was sat on the grass this side of the fence and it gave me the opportunity to test the lens at various focal lengths. Although it was in a shaded spot so the light wasn’t too great it has helped me work things out. Im certain that this lens does produce sharp images, but not fantastically at 600mm. 500mm is a good spot for nice detail. This was taken at 500mm at ISO 1600 Cropped to 14.5Mpx ( just under DX Crop). I think as long as the subject is pretty close and not moving too fast this lens should be fairly good but time will tell.
