This outcrop of the Hinesburg Thrust Fault, located up behind CVU, is an excellent place to see an awesome geologic feature: older metamorphic phyllite resting directly on top of younger carbonate rocks. The fault resulted from massive continental collisions during the Taconic Orogeny.
From this vantage point a fault is visible in the canyon walls on the near left and middle right. This fault is most noticeable in the offset debris flow layer of that has been dropped down on the near side and pushed up of the far side.

This random man I met at the vets recognised me as one of his teachers from the past!
He is a Police officer now, and often comes across many of his classmates in the line of duty!
We had a conversation about the fact it is NOT the school's fault if you turn out to be a bad boy!
More of my pupils have done really well than have become criminals, and yet the school still carries a real stigma. Such a shame!
I had trouble with this pic..the first shot was blurred..too dark indoors, the second with a flash so eyes shut, so this was the last try, and I hadn't the nerve to keep him any longer! He turned out very red so a lot of fiddling ensued.
I probably should have posted something else, but he looks so lively, likeable and engaging.
Ripped off Franks talon - at vet getting bleeding to stop - he is okay but pissed off.
HOME NOW. Completely my fault. I saw my two crow friends sitting on the fence, so I offered them a treat. Frank was standing on the deck railing where I give the crows their treats, so I picked him up to place him down on the lawn. His talon got caught between two deck planks and as I lifted him down to the ground it ripped it right off.
Poor guy. He's fine now. It stopped bleeding and I have some ointment for it. I just couldn't get the damn thing to stop bleeding. I held him for 10 minutes applying pressure but it was still bleeding like a champ. All over me. Plus it's his left middle talon, and his right leg is the one with the bum knee. Gah! Nothing like paying emergency clinic prices for a broken nail, too.
I gave him some french fries and he's back chilling with his posse at home.

Statue équestre de Napoléon 1er
MONTEREAU-FAULT-YONNE HISTOIRE, NAPOLÉON I
En vous baladant à Montereau-Fault-Yonne, la statue équestre de Napoléon Ier vous accueillera.
Cette oeuvre de bronze édifiée en 1867 créée par Charles-Pierre-Victor Pajol (1812-1896), fils aîné du général Claude-Pierre Pajol qui mena une charge héroïque et déterminante dans la bataille de Montereau le 18 février 1814. Cette statue est dotée d’un piédestal en granit orné de deux hauts-reliefs en bronze dont l’un représente cette charge.
Il est important de rappeler que Napoléon livra cette bataille depuis les hauteurs de Surville d’où il prononça la célèbre phrase « Ne craignez rien mes amis, le boulet qui doit me tuer, n’est pas encore fondu ». Après huit heures de combat acharné, Napoléon enlève les ponts de Montereau. C’est l’une des toutes dernières victoires de l’Empereur.

This faulting occured when high pressure pushed the rock layers up creating the non conforming rock layers to the right and the downward fold (syncline) to the center of the image. Uplift of the earth's crust here caused this folding while the Big Horn Mountains reached their highest elevations about 60 million years ago.

'Fault-lines: Disparate and desperate intimacies' was an exhibition by emerging curator Wong Binghao that introduced a new generation of artists who address queer experiences in their work. Shaped by Wong’s research in three broad areas—queer diasporas, affect and kinship—it presented video, installation and performance by emerging artists from Singapore, Asia and the United States.
The works in 'Fault-lines' reflect the artists’ personal experiences of moving across physical, cultural and virtual spaces. Displacement and flux complicate young people’s notions of embodiment, desire, and belonging, and inform the making of these works. The exhibition conveyed feelings of loneliness and estrangement through unique visual and verbal languages.
'D' (2015) by Hong Kong-based artist Lam Hoi Sin is a 10-metre wide vinyl installation that shows the geographical distance in kilometres between users of online dating sites. 'Ex nilalang' (2015), a high-definition video by Bhenji Ra & Justin Shoulder currently on view at the 8th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art, explores nonhuman creatures through re-imagined Philippine myths.
During the exhibition visitors were invited to participate in 'Pillow talk', a series of informal conversations exploring the exhibition’s themes, and featured local and international activists, poets and others invited by Wong. Wong Binghao is a curator and writer based in Singapore. He graduated in 2015 from University College London with a BA (First Class Honours) in History of Art. I have a hatred of bigots. I will be the first to admit I have my faults there are certain people that in my brain have a stigma that may not be all that nice but I am more then willing to give everyone a shot. But I have no time in my life for people who will make others feel bad because they either fear or do not understand someone elses lifestyle. For me this song sums that up.
