The earth has shifted along the Bright Angel Fault. Stretching across the Grand Canyon, Bright Angel Canyon and Bright Angel Trail trace the route along the fault. Bright Angel is still active, producing small earthquakes which sometimes can be felt by the Grand Canyon visitors.

Looking down Kwagunt Canyon from 1/2 mile west of the Butte Fault. The 50' pouroff is located where the Fault intersects the flat bluff (I call it Fletcher's Bluff) in the foreground. In this pic the Butte Fault is seen in the left lower portion, just below the cloud shadow.
