Here's an earlier color image desaturated - except for the helmet. I just thought I'd give it a try...
Here's the link to the original color image:

Full fathoms five thy father lies,
Of his bones are coral made;
Those are the pearls that were his eyes;
Nothing of him that does fade,
But doth suffer a sea-change
Into something rich and strange..."
From "The Tempest" by William Shakespeare
Busy yesterday and I've just managed to capture 5 minutes before I whizz off to a wedding today to post this. Will catch up with everyone's streams tomorrow.
Another shot of 'Full Fathom Five' in Port Marine, Portishead, to show the scale of the installation. I love the way the clouds look like they're being stirred into the shape of a halo.
Walking on the lava flow. Much of which is obsidian.
Newberry National Volcanic Monument was designated on November 5, 1990 to protect the area around the Newberry Volcano in the United States. It was created within the boundaries of the Deschutes National Forest and is managed by the U.S. Forest Service. It includes 50,000 acres (20,000 ha) of lakes, lava flows, and spectacular geologic features in central Oregon. These photos are taken from the summit Paulina Peak 7,985 ft, (2,434 m). Just below us are East Lake and Paulina Lake and The Big Obsidian Flow, created 1,300 years ago, covers 700 acres. It is hard to fathom as you drive through the summit area that you are within a 17 square mile caldera at the summit of a 500 square mile volcano, a volcano that remains very active to this day. Newberry is both seismically and geothermally active. Geologists believe the caldera sits over a shallow magma body only 2 to 5 kilometers deep. Visitors see numerous cinder cones (over 400 throughout the area), miles of basalt flows, as well as rhyolite flows of obsidian.

Fathom is a property originally produced by Top Cow (a studio partner of Image Comics) and later published by Aspen MLT. Aspen primary published comics under its own banner along with doing a lot of other projects for DC, Marvel, and Image/Top Cow along with producing this action figure sculpted by Clayburn Moore. I've met Mr. Moore on a couple of occasions over the years.
This image was created by five or six "stacked" images with different lighting (Lume Cube with a blue filter and a red laser pointer) at multiple long exposures that were combined in Photoshop to create one composite image. I ran the composite image through various filters (Nik Software's Analog Efex and Color Efex Pro) to bring out different artistic characteristics within the image.
As this doing this type of photography is still experimental for me, comments/critiques are welcomed.
