So Rachel is now fast approaching 18 months, and doing great. She's still making good progress, and is officially sitting independently. She can sit for up to 45 minutes now!!!
She is now 19lbs 3 oz, and 77.5 cms long. That puts her on the 3rd percentile for weight, and between the 10th and the 50th for height. We haven't done a head measurement in a while, so I'm not sure about that one, and I think I'm glad. We know that her head is not on the growth charts, but we also know that she is doing way better than the evidence would suggest.
We've had a lot of appointments recently, hydrotherapy, physiotherapy and occupational therapy, pediatrician, dietician, ENT. We are seeing the neurologist at the end of the month for an EEG, which will tell us something about the seizure like episodes she is having. I dread that one!
Rachel loves the water, so hydro is always fun. She's doing really well there now, really relaxed in the water. She used to be stiff as a board, but now she goes nuts splashing and having fun. We are back to our monday morning group in a few weeks, and she will get more regular hydrotherapy there.
Physical improvements have been steady over the last few weeks & months. Rachel is really comfortable sitting now, and can sit for a long time. She does fall over a bit still, but it's usually when she gets pushed by Ben, or wants to get at something outside her grasp. We are working on going from lying to sitting, and also sitting to standing. She is getting pretty good at both, but of course still with help. We are also working on transferring weight from one foot to the other, something she has to learn if she is ever to take steps.
Rachel's left hand has been in a soft neoprene splint for 3 months now, and although we have seen good progress and improvements, it's still nowhere near a functioning hand. We were back with the Pediatrician about this last week, and she agrees that the next course of action is a solid splint for 12 hours at night for the next 3 months. Then, we will revisit the Botox option, probably for the lower arm.
We saw our ENT back in July, and he agreed that a hearing aid could be beneficial. We are waiting for an appointment to check for any new loss in her right ear, and then we will hopefully go ahead with this. I'm excited, as I think it might really help with Rachel's speech delays.
The dietician has made us cut out the lunch time bottle, so she's now just on one in the morning after breakfast, and one before bed. So far, it hasn't been going that well, as Rachel still doesn't like to eat lumpy foods, and won't bring food to her mouth, so feeding has been pretty stressful. We will look again at her diet plan in a few months.
So here she is on her scooter. She can sit on it for a while without falling, but she hasn't got the concept of scooting yet. We are also practising sitting on the edge of a box, feet on the floor. The goal is to be able to sit on a bench unsupported by age 2. This is a big predictor of future walking. Fingers crossed!
I love this because it is painted on the window of a Chinese Fast Food Restaurant. In fact you cannot get fries or anything on a bun here. They do have soda. I am not sure if I am missing the idea of the sign or it is just left over from a different restaurant in this building

With A Very Fast Paced and Quick Qualifying Session Yesterday it was time for the Drivers to head out and take part in their Race to see who could achieve Victory.
In First Place and taking the Victory was (Greg Thornton) in his Chevron B24 with a Best Lap Time of 47.660 and an Average Speed of 88.84mph. An Incredible Victory for A Top Class Driver in Formula 5000 Racing.
In Second Place was (Neil Glover) in his Chevron B37 with a Lap Time of 48.128 and an Average Speed of 87.96mph. Another Class Example of How to Handle to Torque and Power Output of these V8 Monsters.
Finally In Third Place was (Mark Campfield) in his Chevron B24 with A Lap Time of 48.227 and an Average Speed of 86.31mph. Very Fast Paced and A Fantastic Effort By Mark to Stay in Tight Amongst The Leading Two Cars.
A Brilliant Display of Driving and Skill shown by the Angelo American Formula 5000's Drivers and Some Incredible Racing to Watch.

In First Place was (James Plant) in his Austin Healey 106 with A Lap Time of 53.293 with an Average Speed of 79.92mph around the Indy Circuit. A fantastic British Car being Driven Hard for the Victory was a Wonderful site to be hold. An Incredible Drive by James.
In Second Place was (Simon Cripps) in his MGB V8 Roaster with A Lap Time of 53.398 and an Average Speed of 79.97mph. Incredibly Fast and Very Close to James in Terms of Pace. A Super Driver and a very Super Car to go with it.
In Third Place was (Michael Saunders) in his Ford MK1 Escort Mexico with A Lap Time of 53.280 and an Average Speed of 79.67mph. A Mighty Drive by Michael to Achieve that Third Place with some Good Battles taking place thought the Field. A Very Well Done to Michael.

The Little Pocket Rockets were back again for Another Day of Exciting Racing on the Indy Circuit. With Qualifying Yesterday Showing a very Packed Grid Lets See who Managed to take that All important Victory that Will Decide the Winner.
In First Place was (John Mickel) in his Legend Ford Coupe with A Lap Time of 55.997 and an Average Speed of 76.05mph. A Storming Drive by John showcasing what it Really Means to be a Legends Car Driver with his Incredible Skills and Determination Lap after Lap.
In Second Place was (Miles Rudman) in his Legend 34 Coupe with a Lap Time of 55.82 and an Average Speed of 75.98mph. A String and Very Quick Drive from Miles Keeping Pace with John and making sure he did not get away easily with that Victory. Fantastic Drive.

Euro NASCAR-Pro was up Next and after putting on a Thunderous thunderous Display Yesterday in Qualifying it was time to see what Each Driver could do during the Race and who would be brave enough to make those all important overtakes to take the Victory in Euro NASCAR.
In First Place was (Loris Hezemans) in his Ford Mustang -Hendricks Motorsport) with A Lap Time of 50.145 and an Average Speed of 70.29mph. Amazing Speed and a very Tricky Circuit to Race in a Nascar Congratulations Loris on a Stunning Victory.
In Second Place was (Gianmarco Ercoli) in his Chevrolet Camaro-CAAL Racing with a Lap Time of 50.174 and An Average Speed of 70.26mph. Another Very Quick and Fantastic Drive from Gian to Grab Second Place and a Good Example of Fast Paced Car Control. Congratulations Gian.
In Third Place was (Sebastiaan Bleekemolen) in his Ford Mustang-Team Bleekemolen with A Lap Time of 50.519 and an Average Speed of 70.24mph. Fantastic to see all three drivers really going for it and pushing their machinery to it limits as well as seeing them race in such close formation during the Race. In First Place was (Tobias Dauenhauer) in his Ford Mustang-Hendricks Motorsport with A Lap Time Of 50.242 and an Average Speed of 85.46mph. Congratulations Tobias a very well controlled and Fast Race Pace from you to take the Overall Victory.

With Light Weight Space Frames and A Lot of Horse Power Under the Bonnet it was time to see who was the Bravest and the Fastest Around the Indy Circuit. Lets See what Happened.
In First Place was (George Turiccki) in his Pickup Truck 2000 with A Lap Time of 52.606 and an Average Speed of 63.76mph. Really Fast From George and Leaving most of the Field in the Dust with his Experience and Driving Skills behind the Wheel of His Pickup Truck. Congratulations George. A Well Deserved Victory.

In First Place was (Ray Harris) in his Ginetta G40R with a Lap Time of 50.721 and an Average Speed of 73.71mph. A Lightening Fast Drive from Ray to take the Victory and that Ginetta was looking very Beautiful out on track indeed. Congratulations Ray.

On 22 August 2018, I had the most memorable time, for my birthday earlier in the year, my wonderful children and their families bought for me a Big Cat Photo experience at Longleat. It consisted of a 2-hour ride in a Land Rover with a very knowledgeable guide, there were two other participants, we were taken into the enclosures where the big cats live and our guide took us off-road and into the best positions to get brilliant photographs. Throughout the experience I tried to balance the desire to take pictures with just watching these magnificent creatures doing what they do best. I like this image due to the facts 1. It's a Subaru 2. its a fast Subaru 3. It almost seems like an actual Subaru Ad, and 4. the minor edits I had to do in the end. I feel like when you have to do less edits, it's a better picture. Although, there's some of the car lost due to shadows, the overall lighting and temp of the car adds to the slogan, "Love". Also, the reflection on of the 2019 Subaru WRX STi adds to the effect of it seeming brand new and advertisement worthy. I am glad I had the ability to make work with this vehicle in the photography world.
The local flying club had a scale fly-in, and I took my camera. Still getting used to the 7D Mk II, but I had a startlingly high keeper rate, including this beautiful ducted fan.

on the way back from st.martin. for me the most amazing time is sunset and it is always soooo much better at sea far from land.
This looked better on the small screen of my camera than it does here on Flickr, but I still like how everything is really blurred except her face!
Pararescuemen from the 58th Rescue Squadron out of Nellis AFB, fast rope out of a HH-60 Pavehawk as they reach the simulated crash site, at Ft. Huachuca, during a mass casualty scenario as part of exercise Angel Thunder. The Mass casualty scenario involved two CH-47 Chinooks crashing. Pararescuemen from the 48th and 58th Rescue Squadrons were flown in on HH-60 Pavehawks by the 66th and 305th Rescue squadrons, while A-10 Thunderbolt II's from the 358th Fighter Squadron provided security around the area. Once on the ground, the Pararescuemen asessed the scene, provided quick triage to survivors, relocated the survivors to the casualty collection point, where the survivors were then loaded onto a HC-130, 79th Rescue Squadron, and transported to Davis-Monthan AFB-simulating a level 2/3 medical facility.
