Designed to take on the dominant mid-engined Lancia Stratos in the World of International Rallying. Renault Vice President of production Jean Terramorsi approached Bertone’s Marc Deschamps to design a new sports version of the Renault 5 Alpine supermini. The distinctive new rear bodywork was styled by Marcello Gandini at Bertone.
The Turbo featured a mid mounted 1397 cc Cléon turbocharged engine situated behind the driver in mid body in a modified Renault 5 chassis which in standard form produced 160bhp.
Though it used a modified body from a standard Renault 5, and was badged a Renault 5, the mechanicals were radically different, the most obvious difference being rear-wheel drive and rear-mid-engined instead of the normal version's front-wheel drive and front-mounted engine. At the time of its launch it was the most powerful production French car, the first 400 cars were made to comply with Group 4 homologation to compete in international rallies, and were manufactured at the Alpine factory in Dieppe. .
All the motorsport derivatives were based on the Turbo 1. The factory pushed the engine output up to 180 PS (132 kW; 178 hp) for the Critérium des Cévennes, 210 PS (154 kW; 207 hp) for the Tour de Corse, and by 1984 as much as 350 PS (257 kW; 345 hp) in the R5 Maxi Turbo. Driven by Jean Ragnotti in 1981, the 5 Turbo won the Monte Carlo Rally on its first outing in the World Rally Championship. The 2WD R5 turbo soon faced the competition of new Group B four-wheel drive cars that proved faster on dirt.

Sushi is said to be the original fast food, but Americans don't treat it like that. We all sit down at fancy, expensive restaurants and order things from a menu we can't read.

Day eight .. Stopping at the Elan Valley Reservoirs before making our way to Aberystwyth for the night.
The Elan Valley Reservoirs are a chain of man-made lakes created from damming the Elan and Claerwen rivers within the Elan Valley in Mid Wales. The reservoirs, which were built by the Birmingham Corporation Water Department, provide clean drinking water for Birmingham in the West Midlands of England. The five lakes are known as the Claerwen, Craig-goch, Pen-y-garreg, Garreg-ddu, and Caban-coch.
Water from the reservoirs is carried by gravity to Frankley Reservoir in Birmingham via the Elan aqueduct. Pumping is not required because the network drops 52 metres (171 ft) along its 73 miles (117 km) length from its source to Frankley. A gradient of 1:2300 maintains a flow of less than 2 miles per hour (3.2 km/h); water takes two and a half to three days to reach Birmingham. The aqueduct, which was started in 1896 and opened in 1906, crosses several valleys and features numerous brick tunnels, pipelines, and valve houses.
Work to build the Elan Valley reservoirs was undertaken because the rapid growth of the industrial city of Birmingham in the late 19th century had led to a lack of available clean water. Numerous outbreaks of disease prompted Birmingham City Council to petition the British government which passed the Birmingham Corporation Water Act in 1892. It allowed the Corporation to acquire by compulsory purchase all the land within the water catchment area of the Elan Valleys. Thousands of navvies and their families lived in the purpose-built Elan Village during the construction of the first four dams at the turn of the 20th century. In 1952, the Claerwen dam was opened by Elizabeth II in one of her first official engagements as monarch.
Drinking water from the Elan Valley is noted for being exceptionally soft, contrasting with water from local supplies in the West Midlands, not served by the Elan aqueduct, which are noted for hardness.

Today was a day of fasting.
I never liked nor understood fasting. When our church encouraged us to fast for the day, I wasn't exactly jumping at the opportunity. The last time I fasted, I was miserable and caught up in my own discomfort. But I wanted to give it another go and dig deeper into what fasting is all about.
Though it was still unpleasant (my stomach is growling as I'm typing this) there was something about the unsatisfaction that I was sitting in that was interesting. As my body cried out for food and nourishment, it felt so similar to the times my soul cried out for rest. At first I was praying that God would just get me through this discomfort. And then I found myself praying for patience... and then grace. Suddenly, I was just talking to God out of need and necessity. It was the only thing that helped me push through the discomfort of hunger. I prayed for the country, for my friends, for the hearts of those in power to be softened. It was just me and God. In the hunger, I drew closer to His thrown. Suddenly, my soul found rest and comfort. The world's problems weren't solved, but I came out feeling different. It's such a weird feeling honestly. My body and stomach are tired and groaning, but my soul and spirit feel lighter.
"How wonderful it is to have a God like this?" I thought. Though the world is inconstant and ever changing, I can rest knowing that he is in control. And above all else, He desires to hear my prayers. I feel so seen knowing this.

If the fitness competitors are not the top athletes, i don´t know who is, .... maybe the motocross guys... anyway both are fit and fast ... ;-)
