GHOSTS WALKED
Ghastly screams and shrill voices filled the Blind Institute Hall, South Brisbane, last night.
The hall was in total darkness for a feature of the Hallowe'en party arranged by the Toc H Women's section.
In a horrible sing-song voice, a ghost story was told, while a mysterious figure moved about the listeners handing to them supposed 'bits' of his anatomy.
Cocktail frankfurts, chilled to icy coolness after days in a refrigerator, made horribly life like entrails, and a set of false teeth frivolously nipped their victim.
The hall was decorated with Hallowe'en motifs, and a witch's dance under dimmed lights added to the ghostly atmosphere.
These old bathing huts and workshops were by the beach near Tavira, Portugal. The locals were painting and repairing everything ready for the summer and the freshly painted walls with weathered wood of the doors looked fantastic.
There were several dining options on the ship, but we tried to go to the main dining room as much as possible (every dinner, most breakfast and lunch). It was like going to a fancy restaurant with impeccable service for every meal, and ordering whatever you wanted. This shot is from our last night’s dessert, and includes apple strudel, key lime pie, and pear mousse with chocolate chips and chocolate sauce.
This fanciful burglar alarm, which appears to be made of stained glass, shows on the wall of an abandoned bank building in Tipton,IA. Not sure if it lit up, sounded a bell, or both.

Another perk is getting put into hotels I personally have no business being in. My wife and I found ourselves with a classy room at the historic Savoy. Right on the River Thames! Awww yeah!

Pattern source: Knitting Vintage Socks / Nancy Bush
Yarn: Schoeller + Stahl Fortissima Socka
Needles: 2,5 mm for the upper leg and 2,25 mm for the rest of the sock
Modifications: replaced the scalloped edge with k1 p1 ribbing, did one extra pattern repeat in the leg, made the heel longer

Een opdracht voor een student van de stylingacademie. Nu gebruikt als sfeerbeelden voor Shoot ‘n You. Deze 2 meiden hadden zoveel plezier in de fotoshoot dat we na een middag fotograferen zoveel keuzevrijheid hadden dat we zelfs niet konden kiezen. Bij deze een selectie van deze cosmo/fancy stijl fotoshoot. De nodige props als donuts, brillen, hoedjes, slaapmaskers, kruiwagens, telefoons, rolschaatsen en natuurlijk kauwgom mochten niet ontbreken.
Veel plezier met het bekijken van deze vrolijke meiden fashionserie.

The fancy trucks at every turn were highlights of a day on the road in India. On sighting the juggernaut that just thundered it past, we could almost forgive them for nearly hitting us. They were always emblazoned with colourful pictures, emblems, motifs, devotional phrases, quotes, Baba's names, or whatever else seemed fit to the owner who drove them tirelessly up and down the sub-continent.

A peaceful night of sailing then took us to Bar Harbor, Maine. We especially enjoyed this picturesque and scenic area since the ship had to drop anchor in the harbor and anyone who wanted to disembark had to ride in tenders to get into town. Many very fancy mansions dotted the shoreline and as we slowly coasted in, you could see the fishermen pulling up lobster traps from the thousands of floating bobbers in the water around the ship. This beautiful settlement was founded in 1796, and was originally named Eden. Interestingly, Bar Harbor has a year-round population of 5,000, but in the summer the population swells to 18,000.
I'm scanning and uploading some ancient snaps - came across these tonight while looking for something else! When my friends Gavin & Valerie lived in London they threw fancy dress Halloween parties every October - in all modesty I think my 1999 outfit was an excellent use of resources. I wore my galibeyeh bought in Egypt the previous year & one of my African masks, a Luba mask from the Congo. Originally, lengthy grass streamers would be attached to the perimeter. I used old fabric torn into strips. A white scarf and pink rubber gloves completed the effect.
This is me wearing the outfit in our sitting room in Clapham before we set off to Gavin & Valerie's house in Archway. We liked very strong colours back in those days!
(I kept all the parts of the costume in a bag on the tube and threw everything on once we got to Archway)
