We took another walk yesterday down to the natural pools at the bottom of the waterfall in the nearby village; this time with my wide-angle lens. Dusk was fast approaching and so the mood with this photo is different as there was no direct sunlight filtering through the trees

Several delicate polypores (bracket fungus, shelf fungus) colonize a fallen tree in the dark understory of a moist lowland forest on the Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica. A ray of sunshine had penetrated the canopy and rim lit the fungus.

Whether you are a turtle or a Great White Egret, a little sunshine just seems to make things better.
This Egret was sitting pretty on it's newest perch, a recently fallen tree, most likely keeping a look out for some tasty treat for breakfast.
And all those turtles were also perched on their sunning log, another fallen tree, most likely loving these latest "improvements" of their little corner of the lake.
Seen during a recent visit to a nearby arboretum.
