Seems we are having a late colour change this year. Stopped by Sherman Falls the other day while heading home from our uneventful birding outing...never get tired of this place...

The "greenies", as we affectionately call this pair, make their return trip to Northtown with fall colors really starting to pop.
A crossing malfunction in Big Lake forced a very slow pass through town, which was great because it allowed lots of shots to be taken.
As I've mentioned in previous photos, the BN merger was 50 years ago this year, and BNSF was 25 years ago this month.
Minus a few details, you almost wouldn't even have known the BN ceased to exist 25 years ago looking at this train.

What' s not to love.... the colors... the temperatures (warm days, cool nights), soup, falling leaves (unless you have to rake them), sweaters ... NEW BOOTS!
Yey, Fall!!
For Flickr Friday.... Theme: Simply Irresistable! I wait all year for this!
Some more fall colours spotted along the Stanley Park seawall in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
About this photo: A photo from last month when I went to beautiful Stanley Park in Vancouver, BC, Canada to find some fall colours. It was a gorgeous sunny day and I got lucky with some beautiful fall foliage.
This area with this tree at Brockton Point in Stanley Park is one of my favourite spots for fall photos. You can see the Lions Gate Bridge in the distance and I got lucky with 2 bikers appearing in my scene.

Some information about Vancouver: Vancouver is known as one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Vancouver is Canada's third largest city and is located by the Pacific Ocean on a peninsula surrounded by water and in the distance there are the mountains. Vancouver is considered a pretty clean and safe city with a great variety of shops, museums, theatre, outdoor activities (hiking, walking, kayaking, sailing, skiing on the local mountains in the winter) and more. Walking around Stanley Park is a favourite thing to do for tourist and locals alike. This beautiful park extends from the city centre of Vancouver almost to the North Shore. With wonderful views of the mountains and the ocean around every corner, downtown Vancouver is one of the most picturesque cities in the world. Walk along Robson Street, the most popular shopping street. Experience Chinatown with the different kinds of building and stores, walk on the beaches of English Bay and the seawall of Stanley Park, enjoy a walk in Gastown with the old steam clock and the many gift shops.
Look out for some Hollywood film sets as Vancouver is used for many big Hollywood movies and shows. That's why you might hear that Vancouver is called "Hollywood North". Here are some examples of shows and movies that were/are filmed here: "Deadpool 1 & 2", "The X-Files", "The Good Doctor", "Colony", "Arrow", "The Flash", "Supernatural", "Stargate-SG1", "The 6th Day", "Kiss of the Dragon", "Small Ville" and many many more. Then there is also the Canada Place, the stadiums, the Harbour Lookout, the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden, Science World, the Vancouver Art Gallery and much more! All of these attractions are located within minutes from the city centre.
Vancouver is also popular in the winter for winter activities. There are 3 local mountains where you can do any type of winter sport. There is Grouse Mountain, most famous for it's stunning views over the city and fresh powder snow. Grouse Mountain is accessible by skyride...this is a big gondola that will take you up to the top of the mountain. Mount Seymour and Cypress Mountain are famous too and you also get wonderful views from the top of these mountains. As you can see...Vancouver has lots to offer. The Winter Olympics were held here in 2010 as well.
Last winter I photographed this very same lane just after a snow storm. It was beautiful then, and it is beautiful now. I have posted the winter version below for all to see again. As always thanks for your views, and comments.
I normally don't post more than one shot from a location but I really like the orange here. Almost 8am on the way back to the office. More sunlight.

One of the many reasons I look forward to Fall - mushrooms. 🍄
During a recent trip to one of our favorite nature centers, we spotted quite a few mushrooms all throughout the woods.
Fortunately most were easily accessible, like this large group of mushrooms along one of the trails we were on.
Seen at Dauset Trails Nature Center.

Apps used: Hipstamatic (taken with Hipstamatic on iPhone and then post-processed using the Hipstamatic app on an iPad Pro). No other apps were used.
Backstory:
This was taken during a walk to the local reservoir using the Hipstamatic app on my iPhone. I had recently seen a photo that was angled up towards the tree canopy and had this in mind (although this one is more straight up). I had also seen some interesting photos in which the color green had been desaturated and applied that to this photo using the tone curves available in the app. The resulting photo relies on this to punch up the fall colors, although the combination of film (Kodot XGrizzled), lens (Jack Landon) and flash (Apollo) contribute significantly. I didn’t think it would be much of a photo when I took it, and so it was pretty amazing to see it coming to life while working on it on the iPad.

Austria series: Fall Colors
Fall has arrived at the High Tauern National Park: The Larch trees have turned golden, the mountain tops are powdered with the first snow and the marmots have gone to sleep until spring.
Der Herbst ist in den Hohen Tauern angekommen: Die Lärchen haben sich goldgelb verfärbt, auf den Berggipfeln liegt der erste Schnee und die Murmeltiere haben sich für den Winterschlaf zurückgezogen.
By far my most favourite Fall shot taken this year and almost straight from camera. I cloned out some power lines and towers in the distance, but no ramping of saturation or additional editing was required, this scene really was this vibrant yesterday in the late afternoon light. I took a shed load of images, all slight variations, so you may well be seeing this scene again....Apologies.
I'm falling, as far as I can see
into the distance
comes across
as nothing at all
and yet, my heart cannot let it be
subdued twilight awaits not
only the darkness of thought
but kindred spirits coming alive
to illuminate the night ahead
so surely time never forgot
in light, as in love, ...in flight
fears rally to the fearless ones
beautiful in natural dishevelled wake
for the motion is a mere ripple,
you musn't miss this delight!
if you can stand, a minute longer
the sunset compère will lead you
to your highest enlightened plain
an unforgettable minute is fire for the soul
onwards lies the cherishment of wonder
