There are painters who must,
having found the place, must,
repaint it, compelled to repeat it,
each a variant, yet always the same,
always different
I awake to a perspective that is wide,
always differentiated from the prior,
always almost similar, but never with
the same exactitude, differing attitude,
same longitude, identical latitude,
always different
horizon distanced, in all ways a view
encompassing, duality near, far distant,
harmoniously, eyes open, magnetized
to wake before 6am by the suns modesty,
first light, first clarity, a curtain risen, yet,
always different
am I so blessed or thus cursed, for the urge
to disclaim and ode, compose and thus self-
decompose, analyze, reflect, slice apart, needing
the comprehensive understanding this me/place
scripts the raw appreciation, daily differentiated
always the same
this peaceful venue seizures, chest calmly
pounding at the insistence it commands,
the price I must pay for the prize to praise,
to sing, weep, reward restful sleep with lyrics
eked out, pouring, unsustainable yet finished,
always different
a single May Iris, returns, born from a torrential,
thunder, lightning, sky mayhem, rises by a sundial
greets midst a planted clump, upright rises, lavender,
in a majestic solitary, absent but a day prior, yet mine eyes
failed to witness its discernible emerging birthing creation,
always different,
always the same
here, I am Iris too, always the same, a day aged,
but the differences minute but stolid actualized,
this overnight sensation, my body’s restoration,
what I visualize, indivisible, now visible, realized,
miracle of continuity, unchanging chained change,
always different ,
always the same
wonder, am I more blessed, or a s~lightly cursed being,
my breath restored, wet eyes full brimming, changed,
revived but always modified, a newer old man, whose
sum total always a different number, but in sequential,
compelled to confess, no understanding of this miracle,
always the same,
always different,
this daily visionary miracle

Paved paradise and started doing land devolvement, new challenge photo at the top of Beaumont near the old Southern Pacific location of Nicklin is to attempt to hide the ever developing Shadow Creek neighborhood, as this was a failed attempt since the trees still have some more growing to do. This shot is usually done in a wider format to show off a big sweeping curve and the mountains in the distance although, with the large amount of home that create a eyesore that shot really isn't for me.
Anyway here's Union Pacific 2680 again rounding out the last mile or so in it's climb to the top of Beaumont Hill with a modest 8700 feet of train, with a Big Yellow C45AH to make for a nice leader.
This mountain is near by Reykjavik (Bláfjöll).

You may have heard the old adage that Guinness is good for you. That may be so, but it is not good for the environment. An epic recycling fail here. The idiots concerned somehow remembered the basic rule of crushing the cans, then they forgot the most important part - don't toss the f*cking cans out of your car window 😡 Littering makes my blood boil. I carried these home & put them in our own recycling bin.
Photo 66/100 my 100 x photos this year will be of foliage: so woodland scenes, individual trees, wild/garden plants and fallen leaves 🍁🌿🌲🍂
Hahahaha

@Neuschwanstein Castle, Bavaria
It was a very nice castle but the trip was slightly unfortunate as the "only place to take THE picture of the castle" (Marienbrücke) was sadly closed for repairs, so I failed to take the stereotypical touristy picture... imagine the disappointment :) Perhaps next time ..
On a gorgeous winter morning, PanAm Railways RU-PO, Rumford to Portland, passes a rural grade crossing north of Leeds Junction, Maine. In the lead is a classic GP40, still in the colors of hated predecessor Guilford Rail Systems, better known to some railfans as Guilford 'fail system' for their takeover and dismemberment of classic roads such as the Maine Central and the Boston and Maine. While the paint has changed, the power hasn't, and it was quite a treat to shoot this sometimes nocturnal job in perfect sunlight and winter snow. With the possible takeover of PanAm by CSX transportation, who knows what the future holds for a lot of these classic old school New England branch lines.
Very scarce display of Orionid meteors this year... But Orion is Orion!

14:52 Try again, fail again, fail better.
I recently bought a new variable ND filter. My first attempt to use it was a huge fail - extreme overexposure, extreme underexposure. This week I failed again, but I failed better. Set on aperture priority, I'm still underexposing and not getting the smoothing I'd like. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I'll keep playing and I'm sure with a few more fails, I'll figure it out. Life's like that. :)

Wrapped within the tender slants of her smile,
beneath the glistening whites of her corneas,
there had always lain an enduring sadness.
I had sensed this the first time my eyes caught hers.
The downward, deflecting glance she shot towards the floor.
Head rising with a slow exhale into the chilled autumn night,
revealing the dark hazel globes of her iris.
How they enfolded me like a warm molasses blanket,
or like the wet earth caressing the tangled trunk of a tree.
And as I stood there consumed in the clasp of her gaze,
An aching quiver shot down my spine.
Piercing through what I had known as my temporal life,
tiptoeing the fence of my incidental permanence,
and touching every other quantity in between.
The contentment in her expression was light,
but her solitude had its own looming weight.
Like feeling dark shadows at night.
