The tulips are fading fast in Holland with the recent warm temps.

Da 284 [10-10-2016]

What a beautiful day. Unlike yesterday, It was a beautifully clear and bright day. A perfect day for photos and adventuring. Some of the places we went to were very windy and cold but it was worth it. We are starting to work on a project that we feel heavily committed to and feel that it will be a lot of fun to produce. I won't talk much about it now but next week I will show you all what it is all about. Till tomorrow.

I can't wait to see what the next day brings!

A quite minimalistic and graphic view on a crow sitting on a power pole cable. I augmented highlights and dark areas in order to get a nicer contrast between sky and crow/cables. I especially like the fading from white to black horizontally in contrast to the diagonal precise lines of the power cables. Hope you like it!

Memories never Fade

Sad to say our 30c temperature of yesterday could be the last of those wonderful hot days ,only 18c today and that felt really cool.

It had been over 30 years since adopting the CN squiggle and this paint job could be original early 50's on this 40 foot boxcar sitting by the CN depot in Woodstock, Ontario. However this is a true classic faded, rusted and weather beaten with no glory lost on November 19, 1994.

ex CTA, exx CRT PCC Rapid Transit car #5001 sits at the Fox River Trolley Museum. It was part of an order of four experimental articulated PCC rapid transit cars ordered by the Chicago Rapid Transit Company. .Two of them (#5001 & 5002) were ordered from Pullman Company and two of them (#5003 & #5004) were ordered from St. Louis Car Company.

They were delivered in a striking natural aluminum with red accents. Over the years they were repainted into just about every CTA paint scheme and were renumbered to #51-#54.

The 5001-#5004 (#51-#54) series cars were retired in 1985 and CTA had #51 renumbered back to #5001 and repainted into its "original" paint scheme for a series of fantrips. The restoration included painting the car to mimic the original aluminum. According to another Flickr member, "the red paint is very faded but that's no big deal. The real problem is that the silver paint should really be bare aluminum for the original CRT colors, but the car accumulated bondo over the years in service, making that impossible."

#5001 has not operated in several years and his been sitting outside for most of the time. The paint has faded so much that it almost looks like the current "paint scheme" of the 2600 series CTA cars www.chicago-l.org/trains/gallery/images/2600/cta2937%4047...

Even when the strsses of life begin to wear on us, chipping away at our strength and we feel ourselves fading. There is always a piece of us right there, to remind us to keep going.

Approach:

Conserve screen space and display all information as concisely as possible.

Changes:

The RSS readers and notes were usually hidden behind a window and the text was too small. They weren't as effective as accessing the content directly, so I scrapped them. They weren't exactly concise, either.

The large Arcs Samurize config helped to organize screen elements, but, again, it didn't work with either of my approaches. I replaced it with the small Arcs config, which is purely for aesthetics now.

Rocketdock and Launchy together fill the hole left after removing the Start button.

The 10 Foot HUD and the Samurize Arcs are the only unessential elements; however, the large clock and temp is occasionally useful when I take a quick peek at my monitor when I'm not at my desk.

I took the minimal color/distraction idea from my last layout to its extreme this time. Whatever task I'm working on grabs my attention and keeps me focused. I'm all for having an eye-catching desktop to help me relax, inspire me, or show off some artwork, but all of that doesn't matter when you're trying to be productive. The only color left is on the taskbar, which helps me quickly identify what programs are active.

All desired information is kept out of the way and doesn't stand out. When I want to check the time, monitor my CPU, or sing along, I have quick and easy access to that information.

Comments:

With this latest version of my desktop, I was able to hack together a configuration that is both compatible with my priorities - productivity, focus, on-demand information, habitual need to sing along - and visually appealing. The only thing left to do is add UL and DL meters, similar to the CPU and RAM meters I already have, and I don't see this getting any better after that. Although, I say that every couple of weeks, so... who knows!

Also, I'm working on a Twitter config for Rainmeter. I don't see it fitting in anywhere on my desktop, but let me know if you're interested. I'll clean it up and finish it.

Happy Hacking!

A fényképész szakmát Budapesten tanulta. Kecskeméten 1891-ben nyitott önálló műhelyt a Budai nagy utcza 158. szám alatt, a Luteránus Bazárban. Később ezt már Fanto Lipót műtermeként említik

(1900–1926), ami annak tudható be, hogy Fanto Bernát két fiával közösen üzemeltette a műtermet. Fanto Bernát 1901-ben a mezőgazdasági kiállításon aranyérmet nyert. A Fanto és Kluge Fényképész Műterem a kecskeméti

The white flowers against the cloudy sky was a bit blown out, so I decided to experiment with a more faded, moody edit. Not sure about it as it's a bit different from my more vibrant style, but it is a bit atmospheric.

The January full moon is Wolf Moon or Ice Moon (or Old Moon).

This is a total failure as far as I am concerned, but I do want to try and get a pic of all the full moons this year. As I was walking to work around 8am I suddenly saw a beautiful orange moon in a pink sky straight ahead; then I had a stupid notion that I could "get closer" if I walked further on, not thinking that it would get hidden behind the houses, or that it would sink, or get paler... By the time I got to a good viewpoint it was fast fading away, it was nearly time for my train, and I just had to take a quick snap without time to fiddle around getting the settings right. So this is the best of the 3 I took, with a bit of pink on the Jura mountains.

In times of turmoil and angst I reach for the familiarity of prose and the comfort of

memory.

Prose; as sea mist, dissolves in the firsts rays of sun, never there, ephemeral, lost

lover at best.

I slide, so subtle its start lost to me. I give my mind to serendipity and splutter grasping

memory.

I gaze, lost in unconscious reverie and fly my life, through cliff edge chills, over coconut

gorse and on.

On through spray and tumultuous wave, crashing boulders and distant cries darken

tragic life.

Spent, lightheaded from spiral decline I cling as a drowning man to the steady hand of

fading land.

Great line.

Went out to a field this week and got some shots, despite being devoured by bugs and being sick. Also, my crap tripod broke. Anyways, a few more of these to come. Enjoy your Saturdays!

PS - If you look at my right hand you can see it clinched with the remote in hand. I haven't mastered the hide technique..haha.

Young Fading Minds: Conceptual photography by Molly Baker

When we are children, we dream, we create and we wonder what we will be when we grow up. When we are adults, we sometimes loose sight of our dreams and aspirations that we once had when we were small. Our dreams slip away from us and it’s heartbreaking. I got inspired to do this project when I was in the middle of applying for some colleges recently. I felt like I was growing up too fast and I missed having time just to think and create. This project was created so we can remember our lost wishes and dreams we once had
