On Saturday 2/7/2022, 1451s (empty 1rail grain to Bowmans) is seen approaching the former Bolivar road crossing in Salisbury North (Adelaide) with the now standard north line duo of alf24-g535 in charge.
With the overhauls & repaints of the 1rail 3,000hp fleet happening, plus the imminent takeover by Aurizon, the faded livery on alf24 will soon become history.
The January full moon is Wolf Moon or Ice Moon (or Old Moon).
This is a total failure as far as I am concerned, but I do want to try and get a pic of all the full moons this year. As I was walking to work around 8am I suddenly saw a beautiful orange moon in a pink sky straight ahead; then I had a stupid notion that I could "get closer" if I walked further on, not thinking that it would get hidden behind the houses, or that it would sink, or get paler... By the time I got to a good viewpoint it was fast fading away, it was nearly time for my train, and I just had to take a quick snap without time to fiddle around getting the settings right. So this is the best of the 3 I took, with a bit of pink on the Jura mountains.
In times of turmoil and angst I reach for the familiarity of prose and the comfort of
memory.
Prose; as sea mist, dissolves in the firsts rays of sun, never there, ephemeral, lost
lover at best.
I slide, so subtle its start lost to me. I give my mind to serendipity and splutter grasping
memory.
I gaze, lost in unconscious reverie and fly my life, through cliff edge chills, over coconut
gorse and on.
On through spray and tumultuous wave, crashing boulders and distant cries darken
tragic life.
Spent, lightheaded from spiral decline I cling as a drowning man to the steady hand of
fading land.

"I look to you see the truth."
Great line.
Went out to a field this week and got some shots, despite being devoured by bugs and being sick. Also, my crap tripod broke. Anyways, a few more of these to come. Enjoy your Saturdays!
PS - If you look at my right hand you can see it clinched with the remote in hand. I haven't mastered the hide technique..haha.
Sometimes that old adage, "Stop and smell the roses" really needs to be taken to heart. When visiting a place as grand and large as the Forbidden City, it's nice to occasionally stop and examine the finer details that went into building it. While these eaves edge tubular tiles were probably made from molds to help mass produce them, it doesn't take away at all from how impressive they are. I think the chipping and discoloration over time only adds to the charm.
While my camera gear has been away to the repairer, which should be back this week, I have had a chance to play around with some of my images on the computer creating some interesting effects using Photoshop.
Using texture layers and various blending modes this faded old photo effect is something I,ve enjoyed creating.
My good Flickr friend Roberta uses these texture effects for some of her images and she has some great results. Please check this link to see some of her great work.

For me the beauty is still there, even though its past its prime. The texture. Absolutely no editing, this is straight out of the little Fuji as jpeg. Didn't bother with RAW .

Day 30 of 365 day challenge -
Self Portrait
So, it's been a long time since I've contributed to this album and taken pictures of myself. I've lost track of many things lately, and haven't found the time. As I was making a Psychology Book on the Brain, I found myself lost in pictures I've taken and long forgotten. This picture, for example, never cut it because of the blur I guess. But seeing it now, I know why I couldn't erase it. Imperfection is everywhere, you cannot avoid making certain mistakes or taking the wrong road. What I've learned? Not to be afraid of those mistakes, and in moments you feel as if you're fading, breathe because you're still here. Appreciate everything, especially those moments of silence you may scarcely receive. Learn to love the past that shaped who you are, the roads you chose to get you here. And be kind to the ones who hurt you to make you stronger. Moments like these are really undefinable, moments when you discover the peace within yourself is the life you've created and continue to live. I hope I can start taking pictures again and contribute more to my challenge!

Today was one of those Migraine days - a dreadful fuzzy brain, and horrible lethargy to accompany a pain in the head! I get these days a couple of times a month - better than it used to be when the ids were small - it would lay me out for 3 days at a time!! A bit pissed off with them now!
