"The Plan was that everybody in the factory would work according to his ability, but would be paid according to his need."

Wah Tea Factory, Palampur, Kangra Valley , Himachal Pradesh.

The saying "Tea is another name for happiness" emphasizes the association between tea and feelings of joy, comfort, and well-being.

"Wah Tea Estate in Palampur, Himachal Pradesh, was established in 1857 by the British. It has a rich history of continuous tea cultivation, even surviving the 1905 earthquake. The estate was later acquired by Sir Sikander Hayat-Khan, who named it after his birthplace, Wah. In 1953, the Chaiwala family took over, and the estate is now managed by the third and fourth generations of the family, Deepak and Surya Prakash, as stated on The Lodge at Wah. "

Sir Sikandar Hayat Khan, KBE (5 June 1892 – 26 December 1942), was an Indian politician and statesman from the Punjab who served as the Premier of the Punjab, among other positions.

The Cotonificio Cantoni was one of the most important examples of the Italian textile industry in the 20th century. Founded in 1828 in Legnano, the company began as a small textile workshop and quickly developed into a large factory, becoming the largest cotton company in Italy for a long time.

The gunpowder factory with the original name of Ferrarias de El-Rei was comissioned by King Manuel I and operated from 1487 until 1988. From 1487, it worked for the manufacture of weapons, and only in 1618 operated the first workshop for the manufacture of black powder. The gunpowder factory adapted and adjusted to the various types of gunpowder until its closure in 1988. Since 1995 the City Council has taken care of the factory and dedicated it to cultural activities, leisure and fun.

This is a little cheese factory in Holland. It is remote, you can only get there by boat, gouda is the best :)!! My dad is resting in the sail boat seen through the window.

I have photographed this factory site several times over the years but still find it interesting, must be the smoke stacks.

Day 56. Driving past this site over the past few days on the way into work, it seemed a missed opportunity if I didnt get a couple of shots before it was completely flattened.

The site is that of an old factory for the luxury shoemaker Bally.

Factory Butte is an incredible landscape in Southern Utah. It's not in a national park and sadly the BLM has reopened the ground up to Offroad Vehicles. There are several OHV opportunities in the area adjacent to this area so I don't understand the need for opening this particular area up. I do understand that off-road recreationalists probably have a different opinion and respect that but do believe in the value of protecting our lands.

The factory was established in 1876 in McPherson Street, Casterton, which is still its present site, by Ben Jeffreys using bottling equipment shipped out from England. He operated it until 1903 when his two sons took over, adopting the trade name "Jeffrey Bros". In 1946 Mr Bill Young purchased a third share in the firm and held it until 1956 when he sold it back to the Jeffreys family.

Graeme Jeffreys, a grand-son of Ben Jeffreys, then joined the firm making this the third generation of Jeffreys to be associated with the business. He originated the sales name "Big J" and introduced a 30oz bottle using his grand-father's initials "B.J". The firm remained in the family until 1969 when it was purchased by Messrs. Phillips and Johnson, who up until the present time [1973] still trade under the name of Jeffreys Bros.

Jack Phillips and 'Kiwi' Johnson also purchased the Portland Aerated Water Company and 'Kiwi' moved to Portland to run the business whilst Jack Phillips remained in Casterton to run Jeffreys Bros. Jack was a former Casterton policeman.
