taken during Open House Chicago 2017 through the Chicago Architecture Foundation tours - we were lucky enough to also learn about the history of this building and the potential future use from the current owner - while it's obviously not a bread factory at the moment, it's also not exactly abandoned. They're looking into converting it to a data center, using some of the existing architectural features (such as heat issues) to serve a more modern purpose.

One of the most important industries in Dessau was the Junker's airplane factory. The plant was taken over by the Nazis after the owner fled, and it manufactured war planes. This was one of the main reasons Dessau was hit as hard as it was. Most of the buildings were still standing just a few months ago but demolition just started up again.

2001 April the new factory in China has complete build.

long time ago...the old entrance of Magdeburgs 'factory' club.

Here's a local Seattle island that used to be a factory. Nowadays, it's used as a local park, complete with a hike and bike path.

The locals all look toward this as some kind of iconic building, calling it the creamery.
