Facing the Town Hall is an otherwise nondescript building being renovated, which has these four marble columns with beautifully carved capitals. I'm sure they're Gothic Revival and generally in excellent condition. Pevsner seems not to mention them at all, so I can't credit the sculptor.

Its got to be Large

I am not sure what they call these rays and what produces them

The sun had set behind me fifteen minutes earlier and the moon didn`t rise for another hour or two

They were in the sky for about 30 minutes

BTW it was Easter Sunday last year ... Rise and Shine !!

I am not sure what the proper explanation is for these but I have seen other shots of similar events

Sooft die Sonne aufersteht,

Erneuert sich mein Hoffen,

Und bleibet, bis sie untergeht,

Wie eine Blume offen.

The stairs up 'De Oversteek' bridge in Nijmegen change to an entrance of a space ship in the night. The stairs where lit by my torch.

Facing this contemporary building, I wanted to capture the essence of its striking geometry. By choosing a low-angle composition and high-contrast black and white treatment, I sought to transform this architectural structure into an image where lines and shapes take center stage. The dark sky and repetitive patterns of the facade create a visual dialogue that naturally draws the eye upward.

This photograph explores how modern architecture shapes our cities. The simplicity of lines, the power of contrast, and the pure geometry of the building reveal an abstract beauty in our everyday urban environment. I wanted to share this vision of architecture becoming art, where function transforms into pure aesthetics.

As the heart of Burma during ancient times, Bagan serves as home to temples and buildings built from the 12th century. There are more than 2,000 pagodas and temples to be found that created a beautiful landscape.

Mesa Arch is an amazing thing, apparently made for photographers. Facing east, you get wonderful sunrises, illuminating the underside of the arch, while the whole thing is at the edge of a large cliff, giving you a wonderful view over the Canyonlands National Park, towards the Manti-La Sal Mountains, where the sun will rise.

Unless there is fog and you have no view whatsoever. This happens rarely enough, but it did when I was there. So, what to do? Looking for something different, of course. Waiting was a good decision. The fog was thinning, a bit of the morning sun eventually came through. No directional light, but enough to add some colours. At the same time, I was wandering around, looking at shapes rather than vistas, and ended up with this picture being my favorite one. It became that one because of the lone Utah Juniper in the distance. Curiously enough, when I was there the next morning (I did want to see the grand morning vista, and most likely that picture will be here next on my photostream), the entire scene looked differently. Especially with that lone Juniper, which you couldn't make out any longer like here, with the background suddenly visible. Quite amazing how the weather can influence the perception you get from places.

After realising that I couldn't get to this hut from Camber Sands Beach, I asked a group of friendly dog walkers how to get round to it. This is one of many numerous shots I took whilst round there. I think the hut is an old corrugated storage hut and is situated on Rye Nature Reserve in East Sussex. You are cordially invited to view on black. Thankyou.

The divine truth, Dante says, “had been revealed by her who imparadises my mind”; the poet’s inventive phrase is “che ’mparadisa la mia mente. ” He worships her as the truth of God and loves her more intensely than ever as Beatrice. Gazing at her, he sees the same “beautiful eyes with which love had made a noose to capture me” when he was nine years...

...Dante and Beatrice have now entered the Empyrean, “the heaven of pure light,” in Beatrice’s words, “light intellectual full-charged with love.” The beauty of Beatrice now transcends all bounds. Dante is more overcome by it than any poet, comic or tragic, ever could have been. But it is still the young woman on Via del Corso whom he acknowledges, even as he abandons the theme: From the first day in this life I saw her face,

until this sight, my song ceased not

pursuing her.

Providence & Worcester GP38-2 #2009 sits on the Airline beside the yard “office” in Middletown, CT awaiting its next job. This engine is one of the cleanest in their fleet still wearing the classic Providence & Worcester Orange and Brown as it was one of the last engines to be Painted into the classic Providence & Worcester paint due to a fire before the take over. This photo was taken Mar 7th and 2009 has since gone back to Worcester for its 92 Day inspection, quick grab on my way to work as I was passing by and had been told the locomotive was there by a friend.

A Banded Water Snake in an attempt to show a little bravery and stand up to this Great Blue Heron. But this Heron was a prolific snake hunter and the poor snake did not stand a chance. The heron caught and ate several snakes in a row that day.

Here's another slightly more colourful individual, and both rhinophores are only about a couple of mm. out of perfect focus. Only marginally cropped. Ideally, I would have liked this shot on a black background, but am happy with the composition.

When I got home and started working through these raw files, my wife and I both realized that there's a "face" in the cascades that fill the foreground of this photo. I liked the composition anyway, but that made it even more interesting!
