A collage as part of a 3rd year project entitled 'Animals in Fashion'. Belonging to the first half of the project, 'The uses of Animals'. Specifically dealing with how morals didn't prevent humans from driving various species to extinction.
"Although it is a gloomy view to suppose that life will die out, sometimes when I contemplate the things that people do with their lives I think it is almost a consolation."
-Bertrand Russell

Getting the opportunity to hold one of these wonderful creatures of nature is a moment I will never forget. Peregrine falcons that were once nearly extinct have made a tremendous comeback in the state of Iowa.

Black Butte is a cinder cone butte located in Deschutes National Forest, northwest of the town of Sisters, Oregon. An extinct volcano, it is composed of basaltic andesite. The cone rises 3,076 feet over the surrounding plateau. Black Butte is a striking feature just north of US Highway 20, which descends from the east flank of the Cascades. It is nearly symmetrical, with no marks of glaciation.
Seen from the Three Sisters Viewpoint along US Highway 20.

Views from our Akaroa Harbour Nature Cruise on the Black Cat!
Akaroa day two on our two day trip away to escape from the earthquake repair/paint on our house. May 23, 2012.
The cruise is packed with highlights including the rare, NZ native dolphin - the Hector's Dolphin, as well as penguins and other sea birds. And you'll see giant volcanic sea cliffs and hear about Akaroa's fascinating past. Cruises depart every day, weather permitting and we had a perfect day, just a little cool!
We did see the Hector's Dolphins, penguins, lots of sea birds and the giant volcanic sea cliffs.

Contrary to popular belief dodos had very studious natures, often reading for hours and constructing laboratories for scientific testing. It is now believed that they are not extinct but have merely "gone to ground" in a vast dodo social experiment.
Well, it's what I'd like to believe.

I thought Dodo Mortuary was a funny name - given that dodos are extinct. Turns out it was founded by a Japanese immigrant named Mitsugoro Dodo. 79-7591 Mamalahoa Highway, Kealakekua, HI.
