Dark trees on the road at night,
Often creep me out.
They move and twist in strange ways, that keep me looking up.
How often we think we see, something in the branches.
If we only knew the upside down world existed, we may have looked harder.
For there they are in the soft moonlight, dancing as if we never existed.
Someday they will come for us, for all they have lost.
Forest and fields in a twisted revenge.
Keep looking up!

Cold comes and the water starts freezing until it begins to crack.
The ducks fly of to warmer places with a quack, quack, quack.
As the waters thaw in the sunshine of spring and the new seeds crack.
The ducks fly back to the waters edge with a quack, quack, quack.
Mates are found, eggs are laid and begin to hatch with a crack.
Noisy chirping can be heard on the water until the ducklings learn to quack, quack, quack.
Then once again

Created by photographing ice cubes on the counter. Vintage filter and mirrored.
A balaclava is the only thing that I could think of that will remove all facial features but the mouth and eyes, naturally.
I would have used Photoshop to put rings around the eyes, but then the matter is focused on the photoshop work somewhat.

A captivating banner for Xu Zhen's expressive living sculptural piece at MOCA, a recent purchase by the museum.

I have been having vivid dreams so I decided to read, “The Mythic Imagination” by Stephen Larsen. This took me down a rabbit hole of exploring women surrealist painters which has been thrilling. I’ve always loved surrealism, expressionism, intuitive art, narrative painting etc. I am also re-reading “ The Essential Rumi”. So above is a quote from a Rumi poem that I paired with my latest intuitive sketch. I thought the quote went very well with my imagery.
Ironically, this morning I was responding to a post by a **flickr friend about being kind. This afternoon my cousin sent me an e-mail in response to a book I had recommended to him. When he googled it on Amazon, he came across my page when he "Looked Inside" . . . what a surprise for me! I never knew this was available as part of the write-up! There are also other contributors featured!
The creative process is quite astonishing in helping one's healing and growth, not just to make pretty things! And, one does NOT have to be an artist to participate!
Yes, serendipity reigned once again!
Just thought I'd share a bit of trivia and also, a reminder to be kind, not only to others, but to oneself!

Many years ago I was involved with a group which was pioneering the concept of *healing* using the Expressive Arts. All of us were eventually certified and a lot of our work was featured in some of the first books published on the process*.
It was a very exciting time of my life for bonding and healing.
One of the sayings I coined was:
"Trust the Abstract; Things happen there"

and the rest is history . . . always ongoing . . .

So, meet "Scruffy" . . .
I've been purging old journals from 25 years ago!
Think I've been through at least 50 so far . . . mostly words,
a few articles, sketches and photos!
Have been looking for the *real* scruffy which was created in 1995 in an "Expressive Arts Workshop" where the exercise was focused on processing anger! I think he's still hiding in our garage, but I was excited to find this photograph taken before he got all fired up!
While molding the clay, as hard as I tried, I just couldn't create something ugly enough to express my feelings and emotions,
but remembered my surprise when the facilitator told me I'd never be able to make anything unsightly!
Scruffy became quite the topic of conversation, whose photo got transferred to a jersey which I wore to the next session! Turning a negative into a positive, is always an excellent way to balance an unpleasant situation!

hoarding not coins,
