Edvard Munch (1863–1944) was one of the most famous Expressionist Norwegian painters. His style, known as symbolism, which mainly focused on life, love, anxiety, and loneliness played a significant role in the late 20th-century art, especially in German expressionism. The dark color and somber tones, the exaggerated forms, and the contrasting lines in his designs portrayed his psychological state. His most iconic artwork, The Scream (1893), which depicts the agonized face and radical expressions, symbolizes anxiety, one of human's most common psychological conditions. An den Bischof zu Limburg:
Hochwürdigste Exzellenz, Lieber Herr Tebartz von Elst,
zunächst möchte ich Euch danken. Danken für die Erkenntnis, dass auch Ihr ein Mensch mit allzu menschlichen Bedürfnissen seid. Eure Bischofsresidenz habt Ihr zu einem Juwel moderner Baukunst umgestaltet, zweifellos. Die Kosten explodierten aufgrund exklusiver Sonderwünsche, nun ja. Dem Anschein nach habt Ihr Euch, wenn man den Medienberichten Glauben schenkt, der Falschaussage und des Kirchenraubs schuldig gemacht.
Ich habe den Eindruck gewonnen, dass Ihr, Hochwürdigste Exzellenz, mit dem Bischofssitz in Limburg ein ruhmvolles Zeichen setzen wolltet für die Kraft Eurer Kirche, aber auch ein bleibendes Manifest für Euren eigenen exklusiven Geschmack. Ruhm habt Ihr zweifelsfrei erlangt, weit über die Grenzen Eures Bistums hinaus. Warum nur habt Ihr nicht auf den Apostel Paulus gehört: „Mir aber sei es fern in etwas anderem meinen Ruhm zu suchen, als in dem Kreuz unseres Herrn Jesus Christus“. Ich lade Euch ein, beim Betrachten des Bildes „Glaube an Gott #109“ einmal darüber zu meditieren. Am meisten zusagen dürfte Euch das Werk „Glaube an Gott #118“ in dem es heißt: „Vater, laß diesen Kelch an mir vorüber gehen!“
Seit gestern verweilt Ihr nun in Rom, um zu retten, was nicht mehr zu retten ist. Ich wünsche Euch dafür gutes Gelingen. Solltet Ihr im hochwürdigen Amt des Bischofs zu Limburg verbleiben, lege ich Euch als Liebhaber von modernem Design und Kirchenkunst nahe, Euren exklusiven Hausstand um einige meiner Werke zu erweitern. Solltet Ihr dagegen nicht mehr in Limburg schalten und walten können, besteht noch die Möglichkeit einer Spende, mit der Ihr mich als Künstlerin unterstützt und gleichzeitig Eure Seele bereinigt. "Die Seele in den Himmel springt, wenn die Münze erst im Kasten klingt!" Dieser Ausspruch dürfte Euch bekannt sein. Zu Tetzels Zeiten lag der Preis für Kirchenraub und Meineid bei jeweils 9 Dukaten. Das entspricht einer heutigen Kaufkraft von etwa 3.500 Euro je Sünde. Sofern Ihr Eure Seele also von Kirchraub und Meineid befreien wollt, mal frisch ans Werk und 7.000 Euro gespendet!
