The Nebraska National Guard’s 110th Multifunctional Medical Battalion hosted the Tricia Lynn Jameson Medic Challenge, Aug. 16-18, 2019, near the Camp Ashland Training Site. The annual challenge tested squads of National Guard and Reserve Soldiers on the skills required to operate as an Army combat medic by replicating frontline trauma on the battlefield and stressing medics to work under pressure. The challenge included Soldiers from three units: the Nebraska Army National Guard’s 313th Medical Company (Ground Ambulance) and 195th Forward Support Company (Special Operations) (Airborne), and the U.S. Army Reserve’s 7246th Medical Support Unit. More than 100 Soldiers were present for the challenge either as a participant or in a support role. The competitors rotated through exercise lanes, testing teams on tactical combat casualty care, casualty evacuation, communication, and warrior skills. All Soldiers also completed a timed, 6-mile foot march and a written test. The challenge tests medical knowledge through practical application in preparation for Expert Field Medical Badge training and to develop confidence in an operational environment. Formerly known as the Squad Medic Challenge, it was officially renamed in 2018 in honor and memory of Sgt. 1st Class Tricia Jameson, 34, a Nebraska Army National Guard medic assigned to the 313th Medical Company, who was killed when a roadside improvised explosive device exploded near her Humvee ambulance on July 14, 2005, while coming to the aid of wounded Marines in western Iraq. The 313th Medical Company deployed to Iraq in late 2004. Midway through the deployment, the unit requested replacements and Jameson volunteered. Prior to the deployment, she was a full-time healthcare specialist at the Medical Clinic at the Nebraska National Guard air base in Lincoln. (Nebraska National Guard photo by Spc. Lisa Crawford)

WIG OUT! explosively brings to life the fierce, competitive world of the drag ball. Intoxicate yourself with this rare glimpse into an unforgettable struggle for power, sexual conquest and glory by acclaimed playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney (THE BROTHERS SIZE). The New York Times raves that McCraney delivers "that thrilling sound that is one of the main reasons we go to the theatre, that beautiful music of a new voice!" Directed by Tina Landau, with a brilliant cast led by Erik King (“Dexter”), Nathan Lee Graham (THE WILD PARTY, “The Comeback”), Rebecca Naomi Jones (PASSING STRANGE), and Daniel T. Booth (a.k.a. downtown drag star Sweetie, “Project Runway”), WIG OUT! is a play you do not want to miss! FOR TICKETS: www.vineyardtheatre. org
040408-N-8921O-015 Oak Harbor, WA (Apr. 08, 2004)—Electrician’s Mate Petty Officer 3rd Class (EOD), Anthony Tublin, from Buffalo, New York, repels out of a UH-3H Sea King helicopter. EM3 (EOD) Mosiman is attached to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit Eleven; their mission is to successfully exit the helicopter as fast as they can, using proper safety procedures and to hit their designated drop zone target. Each team member is being graded on all steps taken during their repelling procedures. In the event of a real combat scenario, EODMU-11 team members would be required to locate a possible explosive device and disarm it. A helicopter drop over a simulated battle zone gives EODMU-11 an understanding of the possible disasters that can occur in the field.

There were a couple of these contraptions in the labs at Ardeer. I think they were a crude way of measuring the force of an explosion.
Your shell or whatever went in the hole at the bottom of the weighted swinging arm and fired back against a stack of sandbags. That swung the arm up and the further it swung the more power you had. Simple
This one was a small one, probably for bullets? i found a plan for it dated in the 1920s!
clouds were moving in, and by the time I reached Vancouver later that evening, it was drizzing lightly.
But here were the gorgeous clouds, ganging up like mecreants somewhere near Cascade Pass.

Reminds me of the American "bombing" of Tokyo with bats fitted with incendiary devices, the idea being that they would seek shelter in the predominantly wooden houses.
An old warning sign in amongst a pile of dirt for explosives class D 1.1 (which is 'detonating cord' or 'blasting explosives') presumably a way to set off the explosives in the channel.

Alfie Goodrich recently challenged me to reprocess some of my older shots. This is one of them. Thoughts? Do you prefer this or the 1st version?
