This volcanic eruption reminds me so much of how my adoration for you exploded.

Remember that time when we were together and visited the exact spot where we first met?

This volcano at our background exploded and whenever I see it, I recall how much I have been feeling for you.

I am missing you so much today.

So yesterday afternoon, while at the store, we felt/heard a big BOOM. We thought something had fallen on the roof, or the building had been hit by a car.

We go out and find that a whole house (a house we know very well) had exploded almost a block away, on Hickory, taking out the houses next to it. All three houses are now condemned. Luckily no one was killed but the owner has burns all over (looked like no skin on his calves and the children were covered with blood).

Eamon had been walking by the house just a mere 5 minutes before it happened, coming back from the Post Office!

Soon, the fire engines, police and tv stations came. There are still tv stations there now.

This picture was shot with a Meike 85mm macro lens; the lens has no electronic contacts, so the aperture is not captured, but for this picture it looks to be f/5.6 to f/8 range. The macro is between 1:1 to 1:3.

Pictures from Lebanon Beirut Port Explosion Aug 8 2020

Decorated store fronts in the aftermath of the Greenwood explosion.

In an effort to up the dynamics of my photoshoots, and give a little extra something to play with. Yesterday I glued cotton balls to my newly acquired battery-powered tea lights.

Today I added paint with an airbrush. Light coats of black around the whole ball, building up the dark layers on the outside. Then I added red, followed by orange, and finished with yellow. I dusted the colors across most of the explosion, save for the top that I left nearly white.

I made four to start, and see how it went. #1 is a short pile of cotton balls. #2 is the same as #1, just pulled up a bit more. #3 has added cotton balls on top for added height. And #4 has two tea lights inside for a wider explosion.

One of the goals I wanted to have was to be able to move them around, stack them up, or whatever the scene needed. I stacked them up, and the explosion is HUGE! It worked better than I hoped.

And now we get to blow up the Marvel/TMNT crossover team. One of the other goals I had hoped to be able to do was have the buildings explode. I used the tall #3 explosion, and it looks like it is rolling out the door, and then the other three look like the explosion is carrying across the street.

Oh, I am definitely doing more of these. This is great for MiniMates scale. It will be a bit small for Marvel Legends scale without stacking them up. So, I am going to need a few more of these explosions.

Shortly after 11.15am today, Tuesday 26 June 2012, police were called to Shaw following a report that homes had been seriously damaged in a large explosion.

Police, fire and ambulance services are at the scene and a cordon remains in place.

Police can confirm a young child has died and a man has been taken to hospital suffering from significant burns.

Efforts are ongoing to establish whether any other people are trapped.

Superintendent Neil Evans said: "First and foremost, our thoughts are with the family of the child who has tragically died.

"We understand this tragedy has caused a lot of upset and shock in the close-knit community of Shaw. We are in the very early stages of an investigation but our priority at the moment is to try and reach anyone who may be caught up in the explosion.

"Three properties have been involved in a major explosion, and a large-scale response involving the emergency services and other agencies is in place.

"The child's family has been informed and they are being supported by specially trained police officers.

"Another man has been taken to hospital, where he is being treated for what are understood to be 80% burns.

"We are working with Oldham Council to make arrangements for those who may need to remain evacuated.

"This is an ongoing search and rescue operation, and more information will be released when it is available."

I am like a bomb exploding in the air,

Shaking the earth in an after shock.

Nothing can contain me for my soul flames like a burning fire

erupting in the atmosphere!

... A calm facade is on display as a false sense of peace envelops me!

I'm in a trance, translucent and free like a sweet savory;

A high- what bliss!

A series of two explosion pictures.

I'm still experimenting with this camera. I really haven't found my groove with the thing. The explosions are too fast to really show me things that I find interesting. Which I kind of suspected might be the case.

When I try and go much faster than this rate the loss of resolution is more than I like. Individual frames from the above movies are more interesting than the movie as a whole.

I will have to keep experimenting to see what the best subject are at this sorts of frame rates or slower.

Cheers.

My take on the Bacon explosion. It was okay, but not as great as I thought it might be.

Grænavatn is an explosion crater--probably over 6000 years old--created by a volcanic eruption. It is some 150 feet deep, with dazzling green water due to thermal algae and crystals which absorb the sun. Unfortunately the green wasn't visible due to the lack of sun when I visited.
