Living in the country, any length of hair on a dog that chases quail, is difficult to maintain. As her hearing has declined, we've thinned down most of the bulk on the ears. Hasn't made a difference.

ok, so I come and photograph this tree and scene fairly regularly.... but it's a great scene. It has been in Explore 3 times now!

Sunset, sand and driftwood at Lake Superior Provincial Park's Sand River beach- -about 150 km north of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
After waiting eight days, my new 50mm lens arrived Saturday morning (at 8:37 a.m., nonetheless). I'm looking forward to using it properly sometime this week! :)

Sugar-coated (Hoarfrost) trees by the pond. The church spires are still slightly shrouded in mist.
The building in the foreground is the Gerhart Hauptmann School. Built around 1900 as a high school for boys.
In the background you can see the upper part of the St. Nikolai Church and the St. Jakobi Church.

Verzuckerte Bäume am Teich. Die Kirchturmspitzen sind noch leicht in Nebel gehüllt.
Das Gebäude im Vordergrund ist die Gerhart-Hauptmann-Schule. Um 1900 als Höhere Knabenschule errichtet.
Im Hintergrund ist der obere Bereich der St.-Nikolai-Kirche und der St.-Jakobi-Kirche zu sehen.

Pulling some pictures from the archives. I have been so consumed with unpacking (all my stuff came out of storage) that I have not gotten out even once this summer to take pictures. Or even for a hike! So, I feel compelled to go through the archives and find things that I should have posted back at that time, but did not.
On the way home from work, I pass a house that has the most beautiful garden in front. She uses every inch of her yard space (including the grassy space between the sidewalk and the road) to plant flowers. At the time I took this picture, most of her flowers had died off or been pulled up because it was closing in on autumn. But this purple birdhouse called out to me. In fact, this is the thing I saw from the road that prompted me to pull over after school and take some pictures.
