I first saw Annabella in a portrait of her and Tamara. I was immediately struck with her look and had wanted to photograph her since. That must have been over a year ago now. Zi had the opportunity and it solidified that I had to even more. I finally met her, though only briefly during a birthday celebration at Ovaltine’s. We established that I’d like to photograph her and attempted to plan something. That was months ago. I often forget that night ever happened.

Eventually our schedules lined up. We spent the morning travelling about, from New West to Surrey, back through to North Van, into Capilano Park and then Pool 88. It was a great day of travelling and photographing, the sky held golden horizons, rivers flowed with azure water, the air was crisp. The day was so beautiful I was satisfied with simply existing at some moments. I hope beyond hope I’ll be able to shoot on a similar day again soon, whether it be with Annabella, you, or even just on my own.

Kennedy Falls

Soon to be a trickle.

Heading off into the trees today to try and avoid the sun; our three-week cool reprieve may be over. Ellie-May casts one vote for the beach …maybe we do both.

We were walking through fisherman's wharf in Victoria, BC and I saw this patrol boat.

I liked it, with all of the writing on it and I loved the texture of the top canopy. I post processed it in black and white and amped up the contrast to give it an almost gritty look.

As always, Thanks for viewing and comments are always welcome.

"Autumn arrives, array'd in splendid mein;

Vines, cluster'd full, add to the beauteous scene,

And fruit-trees cloth'd profusely laden, nod,

Complaint bowing to the fertile sod."

― Farmer's Almanac, 1818

“Standing on the snow-covered plain, as if in a pasture amid the hills, I cut my way first through a foot of snow, and then a foot of ice, and open a window under my feet, where, kneeling to drink, I look down into the quiet parlour of the fishes, pervaded by a softened light as through a window of ground glass, with its bright sanded floor the same as in summer; there a perennial waveless serenity reigns as in the amber twilight sky, corresponding to the cool and even temperament of the inhabitants.

Heaven is under our feet as well as over our heads.”
