Sunrise on the Alouette River, Pitt Meadows 08-30-2013 • InstagramTwitterFacebookGoogle+TumblerPinterestAbout Me ►►► All Photos ©SeaSide Signs ◄◄◄

The Alouette River has a significant place in the cultural heritage of the area. The #Katzie First Nation have historically depended on the salmon of the river and have maintained spiritual, cultural and economic ties to the river. The valley was part of a travel corridor for First Nations people between the Lower Fraser River area and the Lillooet area.

Stephan's Quintet, as its name implies, is a group of five faint galaxies. Top right NGC 7331 is a spiral galaxy at a distance of 49 million light-years from Earth.

Taken in my backyard there were numerous cloud bands that came thru which did ruin a few of the exposures, but I was lucky and able to recover sufficient data.

This falls is an ever changing waterfall, depending on where you are standing along with the quickly changing light.

This is from the very bottom of the falls looking straight up - still a little bit of mist to take care of on the lens to capture the image :)

This picture was taken in 2018, a winter night at Port Vancouver with a big moon.

Winter bliss found on a mountain top on the usually green island.

For us here on the the island we have to travel to higher elevations to find snow.

This beautiful little lake tucked alongside the Alberni Highway was so peaceful.

Early winter conditions. Photo credit to my wife.

With all of the smoke from the forest fires in the interior, it makes for a crazy sunset on the west coast.

Getting away from the west coast now and onto some island backroads just after a heavy rainstorm - always hidden beauty!

To help celebrate Canada's 150th birthday, VIA Rail has decorated a few of their locomotives in a festive scheme. VIA #6454 is the first locomotive to visit Vancouver with the Canada 150 markings, as seen here backing into Pacific Central Station.
