Got to use the Smooth water App on my camera.

Life is like an ocean.

It can be calm and still or rough and rigid.

But in the end it’s always beautiful.

This is 1001 Steps in Ocean Park (part of South Surrey). There isn't 1001 steps, but there are a bunch of them. I think I lost count after 100 steps and I was only about 1/3 of the way up.

The Italian garden is serene, symmetrical and impeccably groomed. Completed in 1914, it's the most formal garden at Hatley Park. The garden is a rectangular space bounded by boxwood hedges and yuccas that are more than a century old. A loggia and pergola offer cooling shade from summer heat at the Italian garden's west end. In late spring, the structures are covered with the beautiful purple blossoms of fragrant wisteria. The original brick pathways define the garden's perimeter like matting in a picture frame. I was pretty jealous of the family that runs Assiniboine Lodge. They get to spend every day of the summer and winter in this incredible place. While my wife and I spent our evening at this viewpoint, The Niblet, we saw another photographer just laying by his camera and tripod. He said he wasn't going to take any shots until there was a completely clear view of Mt Assiniboine (the one in the middle with clouds shrouding the summit). While I was just happy to at least have my iPhone up here having submerged my DSLR on sunrise that morning.

A different view from the usual Christmas Light photo at the gardens, this is tucked away at the top of the gardens - every direction you turn has another amazing display.
