A shot from tonights special shoot, i'll explain when the time is right what I was actually doing, but in a slight interuption I managed to get this, and I love it. I had to stop what I was doing to let a car go past, so I opened my shutter as the car was about to go past, it painted the trees and the floor with it's headlights and the headlights and rear lights did the rest. I actually love this because of how simple and effective it is.
Enjoy

after trying to explain the story to my mom, i realized i was crying, and then after, i thought it'd make for a decent picture. or at least something i could type a description to
yesterday (now that it's past midnight), one of my old friend's mom passed. she had gotten shot on a regular trip to the grocery store. i know maybe i shouldn't be blabbing about it on here, but it's not like you know him or anything. and it made me really, really sad. he's so young, and to have one of his parents gone is devastating. i don't know what i would do if that ever happened to me. i'm not going to pray for him, because i don't pray, but he is definitely in my thoughts. because i guess i seem to think a lot. he's such a strong person, and i admire him for it. i wish he still went to my school so we can talk, he really is a sweet guy. i miss him
my friend and i were watching the local news channel, and they happened to do a report on it, and again, it made me really sad and uncomfortable. the things you see on the news just get a lot more sad when you actually know the people. but really, the news is so depressing. i hate watching it. i only watch it for the weather - which is also very depressing also where i live.
there are so many horrible people out there. and it makes me angry. maybe a little beyond angry. but there's nothing i can do to about it. there will be horrible people no matter what. and since this incident happened, i have been thinking. just about things in general. all the news stories i've heard throughout my life about people getting killed, murdered, abducted.. it's just all very disturbing. because those people are parents to someone, they are children to someone, or they are everything to someone. it really is a sad thing to have their lives taken away by someone who just wants money. how fucking selfish.
this is a cold, cruel world.
goodnight, i'm tired as hell

Notice regarding "Lot No.402_”.
From now on I will host "Lot No.402_".
The work of Leonardo da Vinci who was sleeping.
That is the number when it was put up for auction.
No sign was written on the work.
So this work couldn't conclude that it was his work.
However # as a result of various appraisals # it was exposed to the sun.
A work that no one notices. A work that speaks quietly without a title.
I will continue to strive to provide it to many people in various ways.

Interviews and novels.
About my book.
I published a book a long time ago.
At that time # I uploaded my interview as a PDF on the internet.
Its Japanese and English.
I will publish it for free.
For details # I explained to the Amazon site.
How to write a novel.
How to take a picture.
A sense of distance to the work.
All of these have something in common.
I wrote down what I felt and left it.
I hope my text will be read by many people.
Thank you.

Main story
There are two reasons why a person faces the sea.
One to enjoy a slice of shine in the sea like children bubbling over in the beach.
The other to brush the dust of memory like an old man who misses old days staring at the shine
quietly.
Those lead to only one meaning though they do not seem to overlap. It’s a rebirth.
I face myself to change tomorrow a vague day into something certain.
That is the meaning of a rebirth.
I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.
After she left I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After
she left # how many times did I depend too much on her # doubt her # envy her and keep on telling lies
until I realized it is love?
I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the
daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.
I had been thinking about such a thing.
However I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see
something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me # a guy filled with ambiguous unstable
tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.
Now I finally can convey how I felt in those days when we met.

My brother's car. I think it is from 1973 (M reg). I was driven to my wedding in this in 74. Perfect wedding car!
(Niece tells me it is a Ventura, which explains the year question)
Taken with a Zenit E in apprx. Jun 1974, Royston, Hertfordshire, England.
This photo features a beautiful 1973 Vauxhall Ventura 3.3-litre version, one of the more powerful and luxurious variants of the Ventura lineup. The car's sharp, boxy design was emblematic of the period, with its chrome grille and detailing adding a premium touch to its practical, mid-sized sedan shape.
The Ventura 3.3 was equipped with a 3.3-litre inline-six engine, borrowed from the larger Vauxhall Cresta, offering impressive performance for a car in this class. This made it a solid competitor to the Ford Granada and other executive cars of the era.
The black finish with a matching vinyl roof, as seen here, was a popular choice among buyers seeking a sophisticated yet understated appearance. Though based on the Victor FE, the Ventura was distinguished by its upscale interior, featuring wood-effect trim and improved comfort. Today, the 3.3-litre Ventura is a rare sight, cherished by classic car enthusiasts for its blend of style, luxury, and performance.
“It’s hard to explain and best thing to do is not be false. Wisdom is just another way to make people sick. It’s just amazing how inside our own souls we can lift out so much strength I think it would be enough strength to move mountains at that, to lift our boots up again and go clomping along happy out of nothing but the good source power in our bones. You don’t have to torture your consciousness with endless thinking. Life is so holy for him there’s no need to do anything but live it. Take it easy, everything’s okay, don’t take things too serious, it’s bad enough as it is without you going the deep end over imaginary conceptions. I see as much as doors’ll allow, open or shut. …be a loner, travel, talk to waiters, walk around, no more self-imposed agony… it’s time to think and watch and keep concentrated on the fact that after all this whole surface of the world as we know it now will be covered with the of a billion years in time.” JK

The Lake Placid Tower in Lake Placid, Florida, formerly named Placid Tower, Tower of Peace or Happiness Tower, is a closed observation tower 240 feet (73.2 m) tall according to early sources (before 1982) or 270 feet (82.3 m) tall according to late sources (after 1986). However, no physical modification of the tower occurred in the interim that would explain a 30-foot increase in height. It rests on ground 142 feet (43 m) above sea level (NAVD 88). As a warning to aircraft, the top of the tower, including antennae, is stated to be 392 feet (119.5 m) above sea level by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Thus, the height of the tower above ground, including antennae, is 250 feet (76.2 m) (392–142=250), which excludes a 270-foot architectural height, allowing only a 240-foot architectural height. Counting the tower's 8-inch (20.3 cm) courses yields a height above ground of 235–236 feet (71.6–71.9 m), so the lowest few feet of the 240-foot height, those resting on the foundation, are underground, providing space for an elevator pit.
According to early sources the tower has three observation levels, at 192 feet (58.5 m) behind windows, at 200 feet (61.0 m) on an open air balcony, and at 225 feet (68.6 m) in the open air crow's nest, Eagle's Nest, or Birds eye vantage point on top of the elevator shaft but below roof tracery. The apex of the tower is a flashing red aircraft warning light. The tower is 360 feet (110 m) above sea level according to two late sources, the latter stating that that elevation applies to the eagle's nest, which is consistent with the crow's nest elevation of early sources (142+225=367≈360). The tower offered a 40-mile (65 km) panoramic view.
Earnest Oakley Hunt dreamed of building an observation tower when he moved to Orlando in 1938, then moved to Sebring in 1947 and found the perfect location in nearby Lake Placid. He and Robert Gray formed Air View Corporation to build the tower. The tower was designed by architect A. Wynn Howell of Lakeland, built by Ridge Builders of Sebring in 1960 for $350,000 (equivalent to $2,300,000 in 2018), and opened January 1, 1961. Most sources state that it was the tallest concrete block structure in the world when it opened, with 90,000 concrete blocks, but the magazine Florida Architect states that it was built of reinforced concrete. One source states that the tower included 100,000 limestone blocks from Ocala while another states that it was faced with ceramic tile, implying that the tower has a facade of limestone tile.
The tower below the balcony is 25 feet 4 inches (7.72 m) square, with its four vertical corners replaced by grooves (each 8 inches (20 cm) per side). The section above the balcony is 21 feet (6.40 m) square, also with corner grooves. Each wall is divided into vertical thirds. The outer thirds are composed of reinforced concrete blocks with a facade of limestone tile.
The middle thirds are composed of decorative breeze or fence concrete blocks. The tower has a foundation made from 520 cubic yards (400 m3) of concrete reinforced with 80,000 pounds (36,000 kg) of steel. The tracery atop the tower is made of gold anodized aluminum.
Because of low ticket sales, the tower closed in 1982 when the owner would not pay their Internal Revenue Service taxes, but it was re-opened in 1986. The small group of owners still faced sluggish sales, and the tower and its restaurant continued to struggle, despite features such as a petting zoo in its plaza, and a pay phone at the top billed as the "highest pay phone in Florida."The last owner who operated the tower as a tourist attraction was Lake Placid Tower Group owned by Mark Cambell since 1992. He sold it to CHL Tower Group on November 6, 2003 which has operated it as a cell phone tower ever since. Even though the tower closed about 2003, it still has two red "OPEN" signs at its top, facing north and south
Originally, the tower above the balcony had the same basic design scheme as that below it. But after the tower closed, the portion of the tower from the balcony up was redesigned with a white and cyan (blue-green) color scheme. The limestone tile of the outer thirds of the walls was covered with white stucco, and the middle thirds were covered with thin cyan-colored panels which blocked the bird's eye view. These panels covered the two opposing triangular openings in the middle third of each wall and the breeze or fence blocks between them. The roof tracery above and the balcony below them were also painted cyan.
The Tower View restaurant at the base of the tower closed in 2015. The tower is among 35 designated Lake Placid historic structures. It is one of three towers in Central Florida, including the Citrus Tower, built in 1956, 100 miles (160 km) to the north in Clermont, and Bok Tower, built in 1929, 50 miles (80 km) to the north in Lake Wales.

Elsie is explaining to me why it is I am not a good pupil in her school (never mind that I'm the only one who is not either an animal or doll). This was taken not long before my camera was confiscated!
File: E0049
Somewhere around Gloucestershire or South Gloucestershire, England, United Kingdom. Date unknown, possibly around c2008. Will be explained below.
About the photograph.
Tiffany is a model (either amateur, part-time, or professional) whom did a lot of modelling for various British top-shelf adult softcore magazines. Many of the British titles includes the likes of Escort, Razzle, and Fiesta, to name a few.
I saw her in one of those Reader’s Wives pages at the back of those magazines. Usually where a lot of male readers would send pictures of their girlfriends or wives to the softcore magazine for a little bit of cash.
There was a small article, a quick bio that talks about her, and it also included a mention that if anyone wants to get in touch with her, they may write via the magazine.
So I wrote to her, asking if I could book her for a photo-shoot, and we ended up in communications done by writing letters back and forth, even though email would be easier and quicker. Finally arrangements were made, date and time for a photo-shoot set up, booked for a couple of hours, at her partner’s home.
That was sometime around autumn of 2008, I have no idea when exactly as I’ve lost my notes, and the metafile for the photos gets changed, I’ll explain this later.
I can’t remember the exact location either as I’ve not made notes of it. I didn’t start writing a journal until many years later. However it was somewhere around the south part of Gloucestershire, and somewhere closer to the M5 motorway. It was done at her partner’s home.
Even thought I am a deaf person with speech impaired, when I went there, they greeted me warmly and openly.
I had done a few photo-shoots of women before, but they weren’t models, as they were mostly female friends or people I know, posing for me as a favour. Tiffany is my first serious and my first booked model.
Communications with her, directing her to the kind of poses, was not a problem. She is an experienced model and had done a lot of modelling before, all I had to do was to mime the pose I want her to do, and she simply use her experience to do the posing in the ways I wanted.
At the beginning of the two hours session, I started shooting the photos with my Nikon D1, but sadly, my camera started to develop a technical problem, even though I checked the equipment beforehand. In case you’re wondering, it was not a flat battery. The photo-shoot was in danger of being cancelled, but thankfully her partner let me borrow his Nikon DSLR to continue the session.
It was a Nikon, but I don’t remember which model. Could have been one of the mid-range series like the D100, D200, or D300 models. As it was a Nikon brand, it was easy for me to quickly make the translation from my camera to their camera in a short time, as most of the controls are familiar.
In this photograph, she is posing on the first floor landing. Tiffany is wearing a white faux fur jacket manufactured by Astrake, and wearing her own white gloves. Those were the first set of outfits she worn during the photo-shoot.
After the photo-shoot was done, they transferred all the photos from the memory card to a CD-R, and posted the disc to me. There was a problem with the file format, and I could not open them in my computer, so I informed them of incompatibility issues.
Therefore they had to save the files in standard JPEG format, which is why the files are missing the EXIF information about the camera, and the metafile may have the date the files were created on the disc, instead of actual creation date from the camera.
After my first serious photo-shoot with Tiffany, I feel I’ve picked up experience of how to book models, how to communicate with them, and how to work with them. Then in 2016, I booked my next model, and to date (July 2024), I have worked with 7 different models.
Despite myself being deaf, Tiffany and all the other models I worked with afterwards, had got on well.

[The Big Move is scheduled for tomorrow. As I explained over the last few days, no more uploads from me until the 25th or 26th of November at the earliest, assuming all goes well, which one should never assume...]
In the little downstairs room I have been using as an office for so many years in this house, and where I sit today like every morning in front of my desk, the bookshelves are now entirely empty, except for the two large JBL speakers (too heavy for me to dare move by myself), the Revox reel-to-reel tape deck and the small Teac components of my hi-fi installation. They have been unplugged and the cables are all coiled. They look like the folded wings of a dark bird, ready to die... or to fly.
On my desk, almost nothing remains: the PC I will shut down and unplug soon after I finish uploading these daily photos to Flickr, the Bose speakers attached to it, the banker’s lamp that will soon go dark and wait to be packed by the movers when they come tomorrow. All the rest I have already packed away.
There is great sadness at leaving one’s world behind, but as it must be done, then I know that I am also very fortunate because there is a whole new world that awaits me, full of joy and promises, and since for me “a world” implies first and foremost a home base, I am happy, in those moments of separations and departures, to share not pictures of melancholy, sorrow and old dust on empty shelves, but the first photos of the place I will call home from now on. Fate (I would not presume to say the Hand of God as I am quite sure I’m not important or worthy enough for Him to personally care!) has granted me a wonderful new chance at living a life of happiness and love and trust, and even though I am not convinced I deserve such a bliss, I fully intend to make the most of it, and to bring into it all I have to offer, however meager that may be.

Wikipedia can explain Bethesda Terrace much better than I can.
"Bethesda Terrace (back) and Bethesda Fountain (front)
Bethesda Terrace and Fountain overlook The Lake in New York City's Central Park. The fountain is located in the center of the terrace.
Bethesda Terrace is on two levels, united by two grand staircases and a lesser one that passes under Terrace Drive. They provide passage southward to the Elkan Naumburg bandshell and The Mall at the center of the park. The upper terrace flanks the 72nd Street Cross Drive and the lower terrace provides a podium for viewing the Lake. The mustard-olive colored carved stone is New Brunswick sandstone, with a harder stone for cappings, with granite steps and landings, and herringbone pattern paving of Roman brick laid on edge."
It is hard to explain but this bird that can consistently nail a bait fish well beneath the surface of the water from a branch up to two feet away was somehow unable to snag a motionless worm from point blank range. It took five or six stabs to finally grab the seemingly defenseless prey but after a lengthy struggle, it ultimately dropped the worm and went after an easier target.

The ring
So, Lindsay went to CES in Vegas alone this year… initially a huge bummer I wouldn’t be out there to support her, but on second thought a great opportunity for me to run around and get some things done without having to explain myself.
I’ve been looking at rings with various levels of seriousness for the last few years, but with 7 days, it was time to get serious. I had a really good idea of what specifications I wanted but I didn’t really know the price point and I certainly didn’t have a specific business in mind.
So, to make a long story shorter, I ran all over town and saw a ton of people, the people I chose were still searching the market for my diamond when Lindsay got home. So there was one precarious morning of me walking her to the corner, kissing her goodbye and then running back to the car to drive out to make my final approval on the diamond.
I found out that finding and falling in love with Lindsay was the easiest part of the process. Man, looking at rings is stressful, but I wanted to give her something completely from me - no outsiders. Even over the years I never really asked Lindsay what she liked or wanted. My first thought was that it should be something I gave to her, and that’s how it ended up.
The place
I had been thinking about asking Lindsay in a quintessential DC place, so that no matter where we end up we would always have our DC story. We have been ice skating there a few times over the years and really enjoy it, in the summers sometimes we will just stop by and watch the fountains for a bit before heading home (somehow we always seem to cross though or end up at the sculpture garden), so it was already a special place for us… and I decided to make it a very special place about 2 years ago. So basically I had to keep all this knowledge under my hat for a few years - not really easy or enjoyable.
Lindsay had said on a few occasions that she would love to have a photo of her engagement, and I knew right away that I wanted someone to be hiding candid camera style and shoot it. I knew I would need two photogs whose work I admired, but I wanted them to have different styles. That way we had the best chances at getting different perspectives. I was thrilled to have Samer and Michelle (pixilista) available to do this for us, they did such an amazing job and I just know ill be thanking them for years to come. There’s really no repayment for what they were able to provide us, one of the most memorable days of our lives was frozen in time by two people who are not external to us, they know us as a couple, and I couldn’t be happier with the results.
The day
So I told Lindsay that I wanted her to come into the city for a little celebration, I said it was a work thing and that it would be nice to have a date night. She agreed and said she would try to get into the city by 5. So I could get her to the garden by 5:30. I was thinking late sunset and twinkle lights for romance (we almost stayed on schedule). Linds without having any knowledge of the events to unfold wasn’t really in as much of a rush to stick to the schedule (that she had no idea about). Samer, Michelle and her husband Ron, were very flexible and sat in the café for a moment keeping warm, while I tried to get binds in place. So I met up with her around 9th street or so and said hey why don’t we go ice skating… I don’t know if she remembers, but I’ve been dropping hints about wanting to go skating this year for months… I mean like just before thanksgiving. She always agreed when I brought it up, but that day she had a tough day at work and was really looking forward to just walking to a restaurant and having some dinner. I think she had a doughnut around lunch and not much else all day. So never mind I told her to dress warmly, (under the guise of us having quite a walk) she was like “nahhh I don’t really want to ice skate), and I said something along the lines on come on it will be fun and finally she agreed (thankfully because there were photogs in the trees). I guess I was being a little more insistent than normal because at one point she pats down my coat asking if I had a ring box or something…. I told her don’t be ridiculous, lets go have fun and somehow she bought it. That being said very early on in the ring process I told the people that I needed a pouch to keep it in, I wanted a box, but if I had anything like that on me it would give it all way. I had a plan, a large intricate long-standing plan, and if I didn’t stick to it, I would ruin the whole surprise.
So the ring was in my dress shirt pocket, and Lindsay patted down my external coat pockets, (score - one point for me). Out on the ice, I watched Lindsay’s face start to glow, her worries of a stressful day had just disappeared into the evening. I’m really thankful we had the ice skating as an activity - it helped the before and after proposal process. It gave us an excuse to stay close to one another, hold hands and almost whisper to one another. I prodded her about if she was having fun, and I was thrilled when I saw that particular “I’m having a really fun time” Lindsay smile. It’s normally reserved for surfing, photos/cameras, and general geeking out, but when I saw it I knew that all systems were go.
After a few times around the ice they called for the rink to be cleared for the zamboni, I had not specifically asked the crew if it was ok to stay on the ice or if it was ok for me to propose. But when I checked the place out a week or so earlier after work, they were so easy-going about the whole system there, that I knew there wasn’t going to be a problem. To be honest, because I didn’t know if they were going to clear the ice, I wasn’t completely set on asking her then so I was constantly scanning the middle of the ice looking for a good opportunity. I was fortunate enough to get the zamboni moment. As soon as they called for the ice to be cleared, I told Lindsay that we should head into the center for one last twirl (she loves it). Well after she came around, I grabbed her and started to get down on my knee. At this point the perfect shirt pocket hiding place wasn’t all that convenient. I was having the worst time getting the ring out. As I fumbled I started telling Lindsay how special she was to me (or something like that I really don’t remember what I said). I finally got the ring out and asked “will you marry me” and I know it’s a cliché but this is what happened to me. My vision was completely blurred around Lindsay’s face, I could feel my heart beating… and getting my fingers to cooperate to open that button holding my shirt pocket was the most difficult task I’ve ever attempted. So after I ask her, she its just repeating over and over Oh my god oh my my god, is this happening, what are you doing, oh my god are you for real oh my god. She says that I told her she didn’t answer yet, but all I remember saying is if she would like to try on the ring and her response to that question was “oh my god yes”. After that I got back up on my feet and kissed her, only after that kiss did I hear the crowd clapping. I then took her hand and we skated off the ice, it was then when I told her that I wasn’t alone tonight and there were photographers in the trees. She didn’t find out who they were until they walked over.
After an initial cool down zamboni period (meeting my conspirators) of which we have pictures but is really sort of difficult to remember, it felt like a 30 second break, but I know the Zamboni takes longer than that. Soon, Lindsay and I returned to the ice, with the photogs in plain sight this time. Again, I’m really thankful for the ice skating time, I was able to collect myself a bit and say all the things to Lindsay that I had been running through my head the past few weeks in preparation of the moment. I didn’t know that when the moment came I would forget everything, its amazes me how nervous I got, in my mind I was going to play it all smooth...but I’m glad it turned out the way it did. I feel like everything fell into place, we had the perfect evening, and a story that we can remember and tell forever.
I still can’t believe that everything worked out so well, but I guess I have been planning it for years, and I knew that the pictures were not something I had to worry about. (thanks again to my super talented friends)
Anyway, that’s my story. Everyone who meets Lindsay instantly sees how lucky I am to have her in my life. I’ve felt it since the day I met her. Her smile melts your heart, her presence lights up a room and I can honesty say that I’m a better person having known her. I am honored to have her on my arm.

I can't fully explain this--it looks like a giant mat of bacteria and perhaps fungus. Because it is less than a mile downstream of the superfund site to remediate the gigantic spill of toxic mine waste from the Gold King Mine on August 5, 5015, I suspect that this is one of the many consequences of that flood. The spill went into Cement Creek, shown here, which flows into the Animas River near Silverton, Colorado. Further downstream, the Animas has a confluence with the San Juan River, which flows into Lake Powell. The yellow-orange mixture gushing from the mine flowed from Colorado into New Mexico, then through the Navajo Nation.
The flowing water is Cement Creek, and this bacterial/fungal mat leaks water into it--there is no barrier. I have worked waist deep in some fetid cow ponds, but I did not have the nerve to put a boot into this abomination.

As the epicenter of Hampi's attractions, Vittala Temple is the most extravagant architectural showpiece of Hampi. No amount of words can explain this spectacle. The temple is built in the form of a sprawling campus with compound wall and gateway towers. There are many halls, pavilions and temples located inside this campus.
Vittala, after whom the temple is known, is a form of lord Vishnu. This aspect of Vishnu was worshiped in this part of the country as their cult deity by the cattle herds.
The temple was originally built in the 15th century AD. Many successive kings have enhanced the temple campus during their regimes to the present form. Yon can even see the remains of a township called Vittalapura that existed around this temple complex. The highlight of Vittala temple is its impressive pillared halls and the stone chariot. The halls are carved with an overwhelming array of sculptures on the giant granite pillars. The stone chariot located inside the campus is almost an iconic structure of Hampi.
One typically accesses the campus through the eastern entrance tower, next to which the ticket counter is located. On entering through this massive tower, the first thing draws your attention would be a series of compact platforms along the central axis of the campus. At the end of these platforms stands the Stone Chariot. This is in fact a shrine built in the form of a temple chariot. An image of Garuda (the eagle god) was originally enshrined within its sanctum. Garuda, according to the Hindu mythology, is the vehicle of lord Vishnu. Thus the Garuda shrine facing the temple’s sanctum is symbolic.
It may appear (and sometimes even referred to) as a monolithic structure. In reality this stone shrine was built with many giant granite blocks. The joints are smartly hidden in the carvings and other decorative features that adorn the Stone Chariot. The chariot is built on a rectangular platform of a feet or so high. All around this base platform is carved with mythical battle scenes. Though the chariot is not resting on it, the four giant wheels attached mimic the real life ones complete with the axis shafts & the brakes. A series of concentric floral motifs decorate the wheels. It appears from the marks on the platform, where the wheels rest, the wheels were free to move around the axis.
You can still see the remains of the painting on the carvings of the chariot. Probably because it was relatively protected from the natural wearing elements, the undercarriage of the chariot spots one of the best preserved specimens of this kind of paintings. It is believed the whole of the Vittala Temple’s sculptures were once beautifully painted in similar fashion using the minerals as medium.
In front of the chariot two elephants are positioned as if they are pulling the chariot. In fact these elephants where brought from elsewhere and positioned here at a later stage. Originally two horses were carved in that position. The tails and the rear legs of the horses can be still seen just behind these elephant sculptures. A broken stone ladder once gave access to the sanctum is kept between the elephants. You can still spot the marks on the floor and the doorsill where once the ladder stood.
On leaving the Stone Chariot you reach the main hall in front of the Vittala temple. This hall though partially damaged is still awe inspiring. Facing the Stone Chariot, a series of steps flanged by elephant balustrades gives access to this elevated open hall called the Maha-Mantapa (the great hall). The balustrades on the east and west porch of this hall is more dramatic with giant lion Yalis fighting the relatively dwarf elephants. The Maha-Mantapa stands on a highly ornate platform. This fluted platform is carved with a series of floral motifs. The lowermost of it is a chain of horses, its trainers and the traders.
The Maha-Mantapa contains four open halls within. The south, north and the east ones are still intact. The central western hall is collapsed, probably due to the arson that followed the fall of the capital.
The main highlight of the Maha-Mantapa is its richly carved giant monolithic pillars. The outermost of the pillars are popularly called the musical pillars. These slender and short pilasters carved out of the giant pillars emit musical tones when tapped. Probably these do not belong to any of the standard musical notes, but the musical tone of the vibes earned it’s the name. Unmindful curiosity of the visitors has damaged many of these pilasters and tapping on it is banned for the sake of preservation.
The eastern hall which is called the musicians hall is notable for sculptures of musicians on the pillars. Each of the pillars surrounding this hall is sculptured with musicians, drummers and dancers.
The southern hall is dominated with the rampant mythical creatures called Yalis. The capitals of each of the pillars branches into heavily ornate corbels with terminating with lotus buds.
The northern hall is surrounded with a series of pillars with the Narasimha (the man-lion incarnation of Vishnu) themes. The most notable ones are that of Narasimha slaying Hiranyakashipu on his lap. Prahlada is seen sitting at the base in a praying posture.
The ceilings of the halls too are of interest with the lotus like carving at the centre.
Further west is a closed hall with two porches on either side. Further ahead is the sanctum.
The inner sanctum is devoid of any idol. A narrow and unlit passageway encircles the inner sanctum. A few steps on either sides of the sanctum’s main door give access to this passage. The outer wall of the sanctum that one can only sees from this passageway is richly decorated with the Kumbha-Pankajas (the motifs where lotus flower flows out of a pot)
She explains how to make a spoon out of a zebu horn.
To separate the bone from its keratin, they put the horn in hot water for 10 minutes and the bone can be easily removed (the extracted bone is ground and used as fertiliser).
The process is as follows: The flat shape of the spoon is cut out of the horn and heated in the fire to give it flexibility, it is pressed to shape the "bowl" of the spoon and the angle of the handle, a grinding wheel is used to perfect the shape.
This is followed by a second grinding step before using a polishing wheel (jeans cut) and using ground rice husk as an abrasive. The last step is polishing with kaolin.
The spoons are ready for use. An amazing process and the colour of the horns varies according to the colour of the zebu.
This is obviously a sustainable art, as the zebus are slaughtered for their meat and the horns are "harvested" at this stage.

Zebu horn is a versatile – and beautiful – material, which artisans at this family-owned workshop turn into numerous objects, from jewellery to salad spoons, sculpted animals and accessories. You'll see the whole production process: from how to separate the bone from its keratin shell to polishing the final products with old denims.
The horn is obtained from zebu that have been slaughtered for the meat trade.

Right, let me explain what the deal is with these two. Both are painted in slightly different versions of the curvy, circa-2000 livery of Newall Citybus, and both are ‘playing pretend’ in different ways.
First off, *where* Citybus?? Newall is a fictitious city roughly located somewhere between Milton Keynes and Daventry, which I invented for other bus-based madness, and Newall Citybus is the ultimate iteration of the city’s municipal operator. There’s a whole history of Newall Corporation and their neighbouring independents going back to, like, the 1910s, which all exists ‘on paper’ (or more accurately ‘on computer’). So, unlike Robertson Buses, I don’t have to buy and paint a model for every single bus that features.
But that immediately begs the question why there’s a Robertson Buses fleet member here. Well, the simple answer is 106 needed repainting anyway, and I figured why not have a 2-in-1 where it’s in Newall base livery but with RB fleet names and the 10 years branding. Also, the lime paint I usually use for RB went back to having its curing issues again, and because I needed this repaint to be completed in record time choosing a livery with no lime on it was ideal. So the Dart is actually from one fictitious fleet (Robertson Buses) but masquerading as being part of ANOTHER fictitious fleet (Newall Citybus).
Then we come to the President, which is in the slightly more intricate double deck livery and – just like RoadCar buses in the late 00s – has Stagecoach logos and numbers pasted over its original colours. Unlike the Dart, however, this isn’t part of RB and is straight up just meant to be a model of Newall Citybus 1220. But I branded it up in its later guise as Stagecoach 18550 so that it can theoretically be from anywhere; maybe as a RoadCar-esque open top spare at Skegness, or on loan to Chesterfield for the Peak Sightseer.
A brief history of Newall Citybus 1220 is as follows... it was new in 1999 as part of a batch of twelve, delivered to a high specification for routes linking the city with Milton Keynes, aka the “Keynes Connect” corridor. In 2002 its upper deck was damaged in a depot fire, which also destroyed the existing open topper among other things, so 1220 was rebuilt as the replacement open top bus. In 2006 the fleet became part of Stagecoach, so 1220 was renumbered 18550 in a block continuing SC’s 18XXX Trident numbering scheme. Since its work as an open topper was comparatively light, just like 16943 in Lincoln it outlasted the rest of its batch in Stagecoach service, and still sees occasional use.
I’ve got some more models lined up to represent Newall and its neighbours, so watch this space for when (if) they come along. In the meantime, painting and conversions need to occur!
Ruby was explaining to Lottie and Ava-Grace a skipping game.
''This is a game all three of us can play, 1st rule you pick up the rope and then start to turn the rope in time with each other, when you have picked up a good speed I will jump in, then every time you turn the rope I got to jump over without tripping up'' explained Ruby.
Ava and Lottie smiled and thought, 'rather you Ruby than us'
They begun turning the rope and then Ruby jumped in, higher and higher she jumped.
''Wowzers, I done it'' Ruby shouted.
''Any one else want a go?''
fibre artist Hiromi Tanga in front of her 'Monster Hotel', wool and other fibre activities for children as part of the 'Out of the Box' children's festival at South Bank. I have previously photographed her art when she had a solo exhibition at the Gallery of Modern Art a few years ago.
I saw a post on facebook a few days back...by the name " facebook logo explained"(the bottom right photo used as a reference for the model). It depicts a man busy on his smartphone/facebook .. I found it very interesting,satirical..and eye-opening :D Addiction to facebook/social media has resulted in a much reduced social interaction...much needed social interaction-brotherhood,harmony,a friendly conversation- especially in today's difficult times...That's what I feel anyway...
Anyways..about the model :
Folded by me from 25cm square tracing paper
32 grids boxpleating
I made this model in a rush..so it didn't turn out so well...might have to fold another one
Still Hope you like it ;)
The We are Here challenge on July 21 2018 was: Conspiracy Theory
Our tour guide cautioned us not to ask any questions about spaceships and aliens, on pains of being expelled from the tour. In spite of which, there were about half a dozen questions along those lines. So, in the name of decorum, this photo leaves the conspiracy theorizing up to the viewer.
By the way, if you go to Stonehenge, I highly highly highly recommend this Special Access tour by Pat Shelley, which gives you access to the central area of the monument after the crowds have gone. [edit] - it is special not only in the ability to see the stone circles up close, which is the climax of the evening tour. Before that, Pat and his team give you a wonderful walking tour of the Stonehenge ceremonial campus - an archaeological overview, Woodhenge, Durrington Walls, the burial mounds, the Cursus, and a walk up the Avenue to behold Stonehenge as the ancients might have done.

Juneteenth was just recently signed into a national holiday, but it has been around a while. It commemorates when Union Army General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, TX on June 19, 1865 and brought enforcement of the Proclamation that had been signed 3 years prior, but was being ignored.
It is not easy to explain the picture for someone out of germany. But I will try it. Hesse is a state of Germany. The state capital is Wiesbaden, there I am living. The largest city is Frankfurt (Main), perhaps you know the airport. In the Hesse state election of 2008, the outgoing Prime Minister, Roland Koch (CDU), lost his majority in the state diet (Landtag of Hesse). It was a big defeat for Mr. Koch and his party CDU (called "the black"). After that the trouble started. I want to make it short. It was a combination of authenticity, striving for power and lie. The political opponent knocked out by themselves and that in a very thorough way. They didn´t find a plurality and so we will have a selection in january 2009 again. After whole the trouble it seems to be that Mr. Koch will win the selection in a clear manner. Sure, I don´t know it, but we will see. For me that result would be a combination somewhere between horror and compliment.
I have photographed a king-of-heart-card and an election poster (wiesbaden is full of that). I do some work in photoshop to bring the face of Mr. Koch in the king pose.
