This season Siggraph takes devote the la Convention Center, from 9-13 August. Siggraph may be the world's greatest conference on computer graphics. Like FMX in Stuttgart, or even the Annecy animation company Malaysia festival, it's the perfect place to discover more on the most recent technologies, meet other animators, discover the big recruiters, and determine in which the market is heading. It's, in a nutshell, a window in to the digital future. Clearly, not a number of our students will finish up in LA this summer time, however for individuals fortunately couple of which are, we recommend attending Siggraph - and occasions enjoy it. There's nothing quite want it to provide you with a unique understanding of the the brand new technology that's driving the introduction of the animation industry.
The crucuial dates
In 2013 Shaun Cruz - students at Dollars tutor Alex Williams' online animation course Animation Apprentice - attended Siggraph in Anaheim, California. As they was there, he visited the Marc Davis lecture series/keynote presentation, a celebration that was filled with insights into study regarding animation. A few of the giants of feature animation, including Eric Goldberg, Kevin Lima, Chris Sanders and Pete Docter were around the panel. We requested Shaun to talk about what he learned.

What were the wedding moments in the Marc Davis lecture?
Shaun: Among the points that the panelists decided on was this: they stated that among the primary gaps they see in student animation reels is commonly is a feeling of story. The animation ought to be obviously work technically, what will truly create a reel stick out is really a strong feeling of story.
You pointed out that you simply enjoyed the section by what inspired the panel, once they were becoming an adult - any stick out moments for you personally?
Eric Goldberg. Photo: Wikimedia Commons
Shaun: There have been a whole lot comments. Eric Goldberg stated he was inspired by Bob Thomas's book, Art of Animation, "The Great Realm of Disney" Tv series and also the Woodsy Woodpecker show, which featured segments of Walter Lantz showing the way the animation is made.
Chris Sanders commented that Ward Kimball's musical number on "The 3 Caballeros" would be a big supply of inspiration for him. And also the factor that Mike Mitchell appreciated giving him inspiration was the communal facet of creativeness within the animation company Malaysia program at CalArts. Something which made everybody smile was Goldberg speaking about creating a story. He stated that in older days you so that you can tell a tale in 2 minutes because which was the size of a typical super-8 film reel.

What did Kevin Lima are saying?
Shaun: Lima related being inspired because nowadays students could make a whole animation company Malaysia film by her or himself. Also, he pointed out that whenever creating a film you ought to strive to find away out to really make it fun, to re-affix to a person's inner 14-years old. He spoken about not receiving bogged lower with details. Details can eat you alive. One helpful trick he suggested is to place your image up before one and have a look in internet marketing this can help the thing is the large picture by seeing your image new again for any moment. Also, he pointed out how as he makes films he attempts to draw upon moments from real existence to assist tell the storyline, and never always return to the touchstone animated films.

Advertisement in The Sun on 14 May 1974 explaining how to vote in the Senate for the upcoming Double Dissolution election. The DD election was instigated as the control in the Senate was then held by the Liberal-Country Party Coalition and the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) and the Opposition, led by Billy Snedden, blocked supply bills after what was known as the 'Gair Affair'
The Gair Affair occurred when the Whitlam Labor government appointed DLP Senator Vince Gair as Ambassador to the Republic of Ireland and this create an casual vacancy for the Senate for Queensland. As Gair's term was not finished until 1977, his seat would be up for re election with the five Senators up for normal re-election. This would result in six Senate places up for election lowering the quota required for a seat. This would in turn help Labor's chances in gaining an additional Senate seat.
Labor's plan came unstuck by the conservative Bjelke Petersen government in Queensland who prevented Gair from resigning before writs were issued after what became known as the 'Night of the Long Prawns', after the appointment story broke in The Sun in Melbourne. Whitlam ultimately called a DD election where all 60 Senate places were up for re-election as the necessary triggers for one were already in place.
As it was a Double Dissolution election, all 10 Senate places from each state were up for election. The quota for election was then lowered to one-eleventh or around 9% of the vote, allowing for exhaustion of preferences. The low quota increased the number of candidates running from minor parties - 48 in total which all had to be numbered in order of preference.
In 1984 a 'Group Ticket Vote' was introduced where a voter could vote by numbering a single box for the party 'above the line' and the party allocated preferences automatically by their group ticket. This has come under criticism in recent years as some very minor parties have been elected with very small votes by 'harvesting' major party group ticket preferences.

Venue=Reggies Club
how to describe this night well it was kind of weird, we arrived at the venue 3hrs before the show for load in and sound check, everything was normal met some cute girls hung with the other bands joked around and killed time. We got our vip bracelets and got the grand tour of the venue its quite a big place, it had underground dressing rooms/showers/ backstage places for all of us to hang and party it def was like beign a rockstar for a night/day, each band played their sets order was as follows; minus the girl, standing on the shoulders of giants, automata, shut up and deal, chasing thrill, and then 1997 headlining.
after chasing thrill played i had to go out side and load up the van and trailer so 1997 could finish getting every thing sound checked i finished after they had already started their set i got inside pulled my camera out and started shooting every thing insight. a few songs later about mid set Caleb announced something that shocked us all he announced that this would be their final show not just on the tour not just hometown but their last period, no one knew not even their label or their friends just was announced and you could see every heart in the room and head sink. the next song was Dropping Dimes and all their friends got on stage and a few of us from the other bands did to to sing along when it got to the corus
"im dropping dimes and im baring knuckles...you fight for me though im hardly worth it"
every one was crying at some point and shaking fists as you could say baring fists and rocking back in fourth with the rhythm almost in unison it was a beautiful sight and heart breaking to the point of falling on ones knees a truly emotional night and experience ive never felt any thing like it and i was lucky to be part of it and see it with my own two eyes well three if you count the camera.
the set ended with a new song from their album titled "#3" by this time everyone was on stage, or lined up on the sides, front and balconies yet again the chorus rang out
"im not crawling, im not crawling, im not crawling....."
these words seemed to ring for ever and keep echoing as every one chanted with closed eyes tears streaming, it was simply beautiful the photos cant describe it nor explain it but i tried my best to capture it, and i hope i did a good job at that its hard to hold a camera still when ur singing and chanting along with a clinched fist as well
finally being on tour with these guys was fun they are a quiet bunch but when you get a convo going they are very entertaining and down to earth and hearing and seeing them live has topped any performance ive seen in a long time i def recommend their music and i support what they do they are starving artists like all of us on here so go buy their albums from the www.victoryrecords.com store
and yea i do miss these guys and am sad i couldnt get more pictures of them or candids featuring them but thats my albatross to bear

This photo demonstrates expressive communication in the form a subject making a passionate explanation to a person out of shot the image is structured in such a way as to show the subjects excited gestures as she sincerely tries to explain something to another, her facial expression reflect an earnest desire to be understood while also showing the seriousness of the subject, the multiple overlay images also convey the a hint of frustration in the subject.
I shot the subjects profile to suggest to the viewer that a conversation is taking place with another person who is off shot. I used a BULB shutter speed in order to compose this shot. I mounted the camera on the tripod and switched off all the lights and instructed the subject and light holder as to what i wanted. I used low key lighting technique using a desk lamp with a homemade funnel around the end of it to control the dispersion of the light. I began by instructing my light assistant to switch on the light in three one second bursts, in between these bursts i instructed the subject to move into three postions, the first postion to be with her sat still for the primary image, the second with her moving her hands (in order to create some blur to denote movement) and the final shot for the subject to bow her head to indicate frustration. After these three bursts of light the final result was a ‘layered’ composite image which gave the desired animated result .
I adhered to the compositional principal of the rule of thirds placing the subjects eyes the top line of the thirds grid.

Sexual folklore says that vagina-havers must dutifully pee after sex, if they want to avoid urinary tract infections. Basic intuition, meanwhile, says we should probably pee before, if we don’t want to be uncomfortable and distracted. But Mother Nature calls...

me and lynn sat in the lift from 11:45pm to catch the mysterious changing of the days. (this is the only way you keep track of time while on a cruise.) lo and behold, at midnight on the dot, all lifts are called to the basement where this lady changes out the marble plaque.

I blogged this here:
troublealwayshasadoor.blogspot.com/2006/07/farmer-bob-exp...
personally, i am really anti sneak-up-on-a-stranger type photographer. but this man was so fascinating, so full of life, work, history, farming, love.....
his hands were amazing and i wasn't bold enough to ask him to pose for a photo of his hands. he would have thought i was nuts. however, if i meet him again, i just might.
he was dusty, with bits of hay scattered over his old worn-out clothes. his hands were stained with grease in the creases of his wrinkles and his beard unshaven. it's haying time and this is the first summer he's had to farm without his wife.
he remembered leroy when he used to live on his dad's dairy farm (which he now owns a piece of) as a boy. he was quick to tell all the details of his wife's passing and a slight tear was seen in the corner of his eye. he's the kind of man that is quick to take a firm shake of your hand as he pauses from his hard work, and will look you squarely in the eye. men like this are hard to find these days.....meet farmer bob.
