The colorization comes from a polarization technique of layering two polarizers above the light source. This photo has not been post-processed: the colors on my hands are coming from the flashlight under the stacked polarizer filters.

My ‘Fragility’ project was a big breakthrough for me as it led to me realising that I like working with the body and human emotions/nature.

This was part of a project which had the brief ‘Found, Scavenged, Upcycled.’ As I progressed I was led to looking at experimental drawing and mark making using found objects such as jars and leaves. I also experimented with different surfaces and textures which was the beginning of these images, the idea of using the body as a canvas. For these pictures I used corrugated cardboard and black acrylic paint. These did begin as colour images but after doing some editing in Photoshop I felt they looked better in black and white.

As I have attended university interviews more and more is being seen in these images - submission, scratch marks, feminism - which I feel shows there is much more to be done with these images.

EBR-1 Experimental Breeder Reactor Atomic Museum

This is the reflector repair room. A reflector made of uranium-238 “bricks” surrounded the reactor core. When penetrated by neutrons, the atoms of uranium-238 converted to plutonium-239, the new fuel bred at EBR-I. Using the machinery around you, an operator looking through the window could remove and replace the bricks one by one.

Experimental subway pohtography. :-)

Christmas Eve night just screwing around with the camera. The blurs weren't intentional but I thought they were cool and left them.

Some radioactive liquid metal remained on the fuel rods when they were removed from the reactor core. Liquid metal was washed off in the hole covered by the bright metal plate in the floor to your left. Rods were then stored in the individually numbered holes, known collectively as the rod farm. The chalkboard was used to keep track of the spent rod inventory.

A Safe Space to Store Spent Fuel

This is the Rod Farm. Here, spent fuel elements from the reactor core were stored in slots in the floor until their radiation levels had dropped through the decay process and they could be more safely handled.

Workers used this simple chalkboard grid to keep track of where each element was stored
