Expectativas del Comercio Internacional Ecuatoriano para la innovación en épocas de crisis.

Dorridge's church of St Philip is a bit of an oddity, something of a surprise if one is expecting a conventional parish church, hidden away in Manor Road marked by neither tower or spire. My first ever glimpse of it was the view from the nearby railway line, passing on a London-bound train and seeing the impressive east gable end standing proudly above the trees nearby. Usually the chancel is the smaller part of a church, a more intimate sanctuary entered from a more spacious nave, but here the arrangement is turned on its head, a humble brick nave followed by a grand stone-built chancel of greater height, part of an aborted late 19th century plan for a more ambitious building that was never realised beyond this point. Ironically thoughts have turned in recent years to further ambitions, and there is a proposal to replace the existing building entirely with a new church & community centre, though as far as I know the plan is aspirational with no firm timetable, and could yet prove too costly a venture to be realised.

The church only dates back as far as 1878 when the present brick nave was built, a mission church that could easily pass for a school-room or village hall were it not for the traceried window facing the road. Entry is by a small timber porch on the south side crowned by a tiny bellcote. Beyond is the awkward join of the newer chancel (which overshadows the earlier part) built in 1896-7 by J.A.Chatwin as the start of his bold new church which never progressed beyond this point. It is a more impressive sight from the south and east from where it is easier to visualise how the completed building might have looked, doubtless like many other late Victorian suburban churches had the new nave and tower been supplied. As it stands it might look distinctly peculiar, but is all the more unique as a result.

Inside the contrasting dimensions of nave and chancel are equally apparent like two different buildings spliced together, the former appearing like a long narrow antechamber to the latter space which opens out into a side chapel and vestries beyond. The nave is flooded with light from the plain, almost domestic-looking windows beneath a simple timber roof, itself lightened with ochre-coloured paint. The sanctuary by contrast is marked by much more subdued lighting, the main illumination coming from the large five-light east window which seems a little overpowering for the more down-to-earth nave.

The church is usually kept locked outside of services, and it remains to be see whether it will survive in its present form or if it is demolished and replaced by a new building.

... Domingo que vem tem muitomais.

Ok - with the stuff up that is Vanilla Coke mixed in with Real Coke here at the office. I got in a made this sign for the vending machine.

(I know of 2 others that also have felt the pain of sipping Vanilla when expecting the Real stuff)

I was expecting to see more of the dust. I realize now a good German equatorial mount with good polar alignment is necessary for this kind of image. It was almost a full moon also, maybe this didn't help.

When she was just a girl

She expected the world

But it flew away from her reach

So she ran away in her sleep

And dreamed of para-para-paradise

Para-para-paradise

Para-para-paradise

Every time she closed her eyes

When she was just a girl

She expected the world

But it flew away from het reach

And the bullets catch in her teeth

Life goes on, gets so heavy

The wheel breaks the butterfly

Every tear a waterfall

In the night, the stormy night

She'd close her eyes

In the night, the stormy night

Away she'd fly

And dreams of para-para-paradise

Para-para-paradise

Para-para-paradise

Oh oh oh (x2)

La la la la

So lying underneath the stormy skies

She'd say, oh oh oh

'I know the sun will set to rise'

This could be para-para-paradise

Para- para- paradise

Could be para-para-paradise

Oh oh oh (x3).

Monsieur André’s graffiti paperwallet is all you would expect from one of the pioneers of graffiti. Simple, classy, and with just a bit of brightness that jumps off the background creating André’s famous character who can be found on walls all over Paris and in museums worldwide. André’s graffiti wallet is a treasure.

Like all paperwallet accessories you can expect the highest quality from from André’s paperwallet. This Tyvek wallet is paper-thin, durable, comfortable, expandable, tear-resistant, water proof, and long lasting. The paper wallet design has 2 credit card slots, 2 business card flaps, 2 side pockets and a cash compartment. There is no compromise in functionality here.

The Meat Co. arrived in the UK back in 2008, opening inside and at the same time as the then brand-new Westfield, in Shepherdâs Bush (and back when Shepherdâs Bush was a bit more... âedgy' than it is now). Designed by New Yorkâs Jorge Castillo, the interior is various well chosen combinations of wooden and fiery tones, dark shades of crimson, amber and rusty orange - which works for me (but does it work for you?). This atmosphere is surprisingly warm and snug for a restaurant that essentially lives inside one of the largest shopping centres in London. Truly an oasis of food and drink amidst all the clothing retailers.

Whatâs The Meat Coâs shtick then? Steakhouse dining, South African perspective. And this is what makes them memorable in a city already so very full of excellent steakhouses. They donât push the South African thing to its logical/illogical limits, however - so whilst you'll find kangaroo on the menu, you wonât see the likes of zebra, wildebeest or crocodile (yet). You might, however, get a biltong aperitif before dinner (and how great is that?!)

Originally founded in 2000 by one of South Africaâs most prolific restauranteurs, Costa Tomazos, Meat Co went international a long time ago. Youâll find them in various parts of our wonderful planet, including the Middle East and Africa. Which is probably the reason they serve a full Halal menu, alongside their regular menu (diners are asked which theyâd like to pick from, before being seated). This seems to be working for them, as, in my recent trip there I saw quite a few Muslims (and Muslim families) dotted about the place. And whilst I am talking about families, this place is surprisingly family friendly, one of the families next to us brought their (well behaved) toddlers to dinner and as far as I can tell everything went just great for them

Like most London steakhouses, this place can get very pricey indeed. Start eyeing up a chateaubriand (£20 per 100g) or Wagyu (they donât even list how much thatâs going to cost on the menuâ¦itâs at âmarket rateâ), and you could soon see your portion of the bill creeping up into the three figures. However, like most fine-wine-and-carnivore oases dotted about the Big Smoke, this is to be EXPECTED (*sigh*) and by God, if you want to burn the money this is a fucking delicious way to do it. And another thong about that menu, it is pretty huge. If youâre the kind of person that spends 15 minutes plus salivatingover steak and meat selections, that can and probably will happen here. The âsteak tasting menuâ is a good bed for the undecided amongst us.

As for the layout of the place, downstairs you shall find the âPuza Barâ - serving bar food and cocktails (I have yet to drink there so I canât tell you if the cocktails or bar food is any good or not). Enter via a giraffe-skin patterned lift or up a stairwell that takes you past a one storey glass fronted wall of (probably) fine wines and you arrive upstairs - the restaurant area proper. Now, this place is a lot bigger than you might expect, and sure makes an impression. Stretching out in front of you is seating for around 260, an open kitchen, more walls of (again, probably) fine wine, an open fire, and the odd chair that resembles a sofa. Despite the size and openness of this floor, there are plenty of little alcoves, cloisters (can I use that word?) and more secluded spots for those who want a little privacy. Thereâs also a private dining area, hidden behind yet another wall of vino (no photos - it was in use by what looked like a large African family so youâll have to use your imagination as to what it looks like in there). All this fine upholestery and fine wine definitely contributes to what is clearly the atmosphere of a high end steakhouse.

Meat Co. also have a few loyalty schemes, the most interesting is the âPlatinum' (invitation only). Platinum gets you 10% off of your bill indefinitely, your very own steak knife (with your name on it and everything). Another good thing to mention is that The Meat Co supports the Nelson Mandela Childrenâs Fund (UK) - a few of their dishes include a donation to this fund which, in words, "is committed to creating a better future for children in South Africa."

Fuck yeah...

I kept poking at it expecting to feel a texture difference like it was burned or crispy or something.....

Yesterday's snowy morning turned into a sunny afternoon. We're

expecting a little snow tomorrow evening, then a decent fall on Sunday

and Monday.

You may be receiving this photo three times. Or not at all. If so, we

apologise. We've got the latest MacBook Pro, which has Launchpad and

FaceTime, but doesn't do boring stuff, like emailing. And a new

camera, which focuses automatically on your children or your favourite

celeb, but not the mountains. Is this photo blurred? We keep wiping

our glasses, and still it looks fuzzy. Why is the new version of

everything more annoying than the one you had before? Computers,

cameras, phones, wives - they just get more expensive and harder to

use...
