My roomates step sister, Ann, came by to study algebra. He had some conflicting obligations, so I took her downtown and let her use my camera and gave her a couple of tips. She was into photographing a lot of graffitti, did some really excellent macro's (that I'm slightly jelous of!) and also photographed some frogs from a calendar so that it'd look like she took some really good photo's. You can tell that she's 15 b/c she described all of her impressive shots as "tight", lol. Anyway, I promised her I'd upload these, & give her full credit, so here you go. There are shots from Kerry Park, Seattle Central Library, and the Pike Place Market. I cropped and digitally manipulated some of the shots, but for most of these it was her who focused and released the shutter. Enjoy!

So long Mr. 995. I'll not entirely miss your excessive amounts of hot pixels, poor low-light handling, and glacial startup times. I will miss your excellent macro mode and novel from-the-hip swivel-head shooting capabilities.

This is a hand held shot taken with my 50d and my Tamron 90mm Lens. The quality this lens gives, as you can see for the price of this lens. I didn't feel that you needed to go into more expensive lens to take Macro shots. Have a look at some of the Macro shots l have taken over the years and judge for your self, you don't have to pay high hundreds or thousands of pounds to take excellent Macro pictures, I don't think so. All the Macro shots on my Flickr page have been taken with the Tamron 90mm Lens. The other point l would make is if you do buy this lens, try it as a Portriat lens you will get the shock of your life at the quality and detail you get. Happy Snapping Guys.

What's a celebration without party lights!

I couldn't decide which is a better shot... so I posted both. Let me know which you like better!

RIP Baissie. I didn't know you - but your photos are inspiring. Your spirit (and excellent Macros!) will live on here at Flickr.

excellent macro capabilities of the canon s100

Here's another oldie for you. This was shot with a Canon SD700 IS back in 2007. I later upgraded to a Canon SD 850 IS, then the Canon S90. The nice thing about these cameras is that you can always have them with you. The best camera in the world is useless if you need it and you've left it home.

These cameras do excellent macro photos.

My wife brought home some excellent looking mushrooms. I thought they'd make an excellent macro subject. Setup shot here.

Ari has an excellent macro lens, a joy to use - one starts to look all over the house for subjects.

Zamora, 10/9/2007. Otra flor más. Me encanta jugar con el macro (y he tenido la suerte de que tanto la Coolpix 2000 como la PowerShot A710 IS tienen macros excelentes). Si os cansáis de florecillas, decidlo ;-) .

Yet another flower. I love paying with the macro (and I have been lucky, because both the Coolpix 2000 and the PowerShot A710 IS have excellent macros). If you are tired of little flowers just say it :-) .

Thank you for the "Excellent Macro Award!" ~ I am truly honored to be invited to your group :)

Congrats to friend Maurice Sanders for an excellent macro class at the Belle Isle Camera Club. Yellow Daffodil in front of a black background, converted to BW in Lightroom 3.6.

Bee on Thistle, Los Alamos County, New Mexico, USA

Reino: Animalia

Filo: Arthropoda

Clase: Insecta

Orden: Lepidoptera

Familia: Lycaenidae

Género: Aricia

Especie: Aricia cramera

Testing my wife's new camera. It does excellent macro stuff.

Day 10 of 365

Texture is all around us. While I was looking for something to shoot for my 365 Project, I grabbed my Canon G10 from the counter, which makes excellent macro shots. I use this camera for my macro shots, because I don't yet own a dedicated macro lens for my D300s. Camera in hand, I made it my goal to shoot several frames of nothing but texture and I limited my location to the kitchen. I was amazed at how many texture images I instantly came across. In fact, I stopped shooting only because it was getting late - there were many more texture opportunities to be found.

Look around you. There is texture everywhere. You don't have to use a macro lens, although it will help you to see things differently. These texture images can stand on their own, or be used in other composites as backgrounds or overlays.

One of Ian's; (damn him & his excellent macro ability; once again mine was out of focus!)

Little shrimp on some Bubble Coral.

Don't know what sort of shrimp tho.

Steve figuring out just the perfect macro to photograph. You will be impressed if you go to his site: flickr.com/photos/stevecorey as he captured some excellent macros.

Congrats to friend Maurice Sanders for an excellent macro class at the Belle Isle Camera Club. Yellow Daffodil with a deep blue background.

Hesperiinae....Part of our technique with the tissue is to take a photo from a distance and work our way closer. Often a butterfly is so engrossed in the sipping of minerals that it will stay for an excellent macro shot (see next photo).

Close up photo of a flower. The Fuji S9600 (S9100 outside Europe) has an excellent macro mode for focusing very close and gives the wonderful effect of throwing the background right out of focus).

These small Irises were on sale at the National Trust shop at Ickworth House. Always thought Irises made excellent macro subjects. Sigma 105mm Macro
