No sooner had I complained on here that I couldn't find a single example of the new Matchbox Range Rover Evoque and that I had to get one as part of the special Land-Rover series which isn't officially available here in the U.K. did I then discover plenty of these orange Mainline versions appearing in Morrisons stores. We all know this particular casting has had a very protracted development period when many of its rivals brought their versions to market two years prior. Its a bit baffling that it doesn't appear to have an interior when everyone else has and this is certainly no match for the Majorette equivalent. BUT....I still love it, it looks great in this metallic Burnt Orange finish and the detailing to both front and rear is top notch. They are beginning to show up in decent quantities in Morrisons and I have taken full advantage of this! Mint and boxed.

Land Rover officially imported the Evoque Convertible since late 2016.
Powered by 2.0 Turbo 240hp gas engine.
Sold for 698.000 RMB (about €90.200 or US $103.000).
I lit this shot with one 600WS portable strobe with 14cm reflector. I merged about 20 shots in to the final image. The colors I achieved in photoshop rather than gels.
Also the grass came from another shot because the original surface wasn't an eye candy :)
As is always the case when I go abroad for more than a long weekend I experience a relative diecast famine before I go and during my visit I get to find out about all the new stuff hitting the pegs of the U.K.
During my 10 day holiday to Ireland not only did I find out that the new HW Q Case had hit, the new MBX K Case had hit but also Poundland had resumed its stocking of older Matchbox stuff dating from 2016 all the way to recent 2018 batches! Luckily the Irish offshoot of Poundland, Dealz, had a few in their Dublin store. The Matchbox branded cardboard tray had been largely ransacked but oddly their were two of these fabulous debut edition Range Rover Evoques left and were eagerly snapped up ;-)
I never thought id see these again in a store buying the vast majority of mine back in 2016 when it first appeared. Shining brightly in this glorious metallic Burnt Orange colour its perhaps my favourite colour given to this casting which set tongues wagging on its introduction due to many collectors including myself assuming it had no interior. It does but is almost totally hidden by this overly black glazing! Cost cutting meant a separate plastic upper half but the detailing applied to its front and rear are quite amazing plus in terms of accuracy its body is better than a lot of similar priced competitors from Majorette and RMZ City amongst others.
Mint and boxed.
I waited and waited for the new Matchbox Range Rover Evoque to be finally released after what seemed like a very protracted period and even more so for them to finally hit the pegs of our U.K. stores. They finally did in the summer months of 2016 and I was more than happy to hoover up as many as I could find. I'm ashamed to admit that up until a few days ago I always thought this casting didn't have an interior and so berated it accordingly but apparently it does have one though why hide it under completely black glazing is something only Mattel can answer. This vivid metallic Burnt Orange was a great choice as a debut colour especially as Majorette also chose it for their equivalent. The slow selling but better styled three door version was predictably chosen and its sloping roof line has been captured better than the Majorette even though it lacks the opening features and plastic headlamps of its competitor. Attractive wheels and full tampo work right down to tiny badges made this one very sought after Matchbox back in 2016 and thankfully this batch can now also be found in certain Poundland stores. This particular one came from Morrisons. Mint and boxed.

Although I still prefer the originals metallic Burnt Orange colour this 2020 recolour is also pretty impressive though oddly Matchbox now call it a "2014" and not a "2015" as per the baseplate. Its overly darkened glazing remains too but overall still a very smart looking casting. One of a few recently found at Tesco. Mint and boxed.

Thankfully my favourite Bulgarian supplier of new batch 1/64 Welly models usually has multiple stocks of each individual casting he sells which meant a few of these new metallic grey recolours of the Evoque found their way into my collection. As excited as I am for the upcoming black recolour of the MBX equivalent nothing else in this same scale and pocket money price level can hold a torch to this. The Majorette version may well have more opening features but this Welly looks absolutely spot on in every angle from its highly detailed front end to its sleek coupe side view plus of course it has had more recolours than any of its competitors. Roll on being able to obtain their new 2017 castings such as the classic 1970's Renault 5! Mint and boxed.
Was lucky enough to get a shot of an Evoque for the evening. Amazing car. This one's the petrol version in Dynamic trim.Rather fast it was too....

I have quite a stash of these excellent Majorette Range Rover Evoques thanks to their inclusion in the Premium singles collection which graced the shelves and pegs of Tesco and Toys R Us until recently but now they are appearing once more in TK Maxx as part of a five vehicle set. Although every example I have is in this exact same Burnt Orange colour i've yet to tire of its all round completeness which Majorette stamp into all their models. Not quite as svelte or rakish as the Matchbox equivalent but certainly endowed with better detailing from its clear plastic headlights to its opening tailgate. Mint and boxed.
