All I can really say is that this show was bigger and better than I had ever hoped for. Evolve took on a life of its own and so many of the artists shared their own powerful stories of overcoming whatever life has tossed along their path.

Over 20 photographers, ceramicists and artists were part of this event. Gay, straight, lesbian, bi-sexual, transgender, Black Latino, White, Armenian, poor, broke, rich, wealthy, HIV positive, HIV negative and even two homeless individuals were all artists in this show. The was a direct representation of what Los Angeles looks like and together we showed why we are the City of Angels

About 400 attended the opening at Art Share-LA in Downtown Los Angeles. The event was a complete success with people coming from as far north as Sacramento as far south as San Diego. New York, Denver and even two folks from Atlanta made the trek to the Evolve opening. I was completely blown away.

Big thanks to all the artists for their beautiful pieces, my family, friends and supporters for continuing to embrace my work through Project KengiKat and Do Something Saturday and to everyone who donated and attended the event I want to say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.

From Turtle Rock Studios, creators of Left 4 Dead, comes Evolve, the next-generation of multiplayer shooters where four hunters face off against a single, player-controlled monster in adrenaline-pumping 4v1 matches. Play as the monster to use savage abilities and an animalistic sense to kill your human enemies, or choose one of four hunter classes (Trapper, Support, Assault and Medic) and team up to take down the beast on the planet Shear, where flora and fauna act as an adversary to man and monster alike. Level up to unlock new hunter or monster characters as well as upgrades, skins and perks. Earn your infamy on the leaderboards and become the apex predator.

Calgary's evolving Beltline district ,as seen from Bankview

As sunset falls, another day of work has ended, consolidating all the progress we have done...

Built in the 19th century, this street in Athens has all the characteristics of good urbanism: narrow, compact, well-proportioned with a wide mix of uses and, presumably, walkable.

But it is now dysfunctional for pedestrians and for cars. Cars move one-way only. There is no space for unloading goods to the flanking stores.

Lines of bollards were installed to prevent cars from parking on the sidewalk thus clearing a space for pedestrians but to no avail. The meagre sidewalk is blocked anyway!

Good urbanism turned dysfunctional.

The art on the boosters is always so good and shiny, it's a shame to rip it open and throw it away. One of these boosters contained a card that'll sell for more than the price of the whole box!

Continuing to pursue the use of fixed focal length lenses, I've found over the last couple of years that I use zooms less and less.

Dunnet Bay, Caithness, Scotland.

Designed by my brother and me for a Bionifigs' Contest.

Far out beyond the Red Star and to the left is the tunneled world of Yirt. Lit only by pulsing crystals of super-impacted dung, it is home to the greatest thinkers that ever there were, or could or can be, or will be, probably.

One day, there comes a Questor, who seeks the Answer. Her people are aesthetes and have evolved over millenia of millenia and whose brains pulse in time to super-impacted dung.

Hector The Bull is happy to oblige and does so.

"Oh, er, well, you see I don't speak Moo, actually, could you tell me that again, please ?"

"Moo ? Moo ?"

It was to no avail.

A few days before Evolve I looked EVERYWHERE for an inflatable couch.

Checked every shitty bargain shop and department store and none were to be found.

Of course, when I get there, there is a dude selling them and just sold the last one to these clowns.

of course.

Trolls: Save the Humans

by Thomas Dambo

Feb. 18 – Sept. 17: Experience Thomas Dambo’s exhibition of enormous folklore-inspired sculptures built from reclaimed materials as it makes its world premiere at the Garden. Trolls: Save the Humans blends art, nature and messages of sustainability in a unique outdoor art installation. The exhibition is Thomas Dambo’s latest exploration in crafting giant trolls – ranging from 15 feet tall to 25 feet wide – with an environmental call. Dambo tells an evolved story of listening and tending to nature, further building on the Nordic-inspired tales and artist-made poems surrounding the many other larger-than-life trolls that co-exist in various locations around the world. The all-new traveling exhibition will amaze and delight visitors of all ages with its whimsical sculptures, each created from reclaimed wood, highlighting the artist’s passion as a recycling art activist.

Thomas Dambo is considered the world’s leading recycle artist and is famous for his various art installations around the world, most notably his giant troll sculptures. From a young age, Dambo’ parents engrained the value of recycling, from which his clever mind saw an opportunity to gather free materials to build, play and imagine.

Before embarking on the path building larger-than-life sculptures, Dambo has lived a diverse life. His multifaceted resume includes talents such as being a human beatbox and a graffiti/street artist. His music career as a rapper introduced him to creativity and building, as he curated his brand and built the sets for his over-the-top performances. Around the same time, Dambo enrolled at the internationally acclaimed Kolding Design School, where he got his master’s degree in interactive design and began building thousands of colorful birdhouses he would “tag” all over Denmark. Without any money to pay for his materials, Dambo returned to the roots his parents taught him and started dumpster diving to find limitless resources, which is still practiced in his artwork today.
