This hike began at South Lake on the Bishop Pass Trail September 8 and 6 days latter ended at North Lake. According to a more accurate account than I can generate we hiked 55 miles, gained 8,730 feet and lost 9,200 feet elevation. This area, part in Kings Canyon National Park and part in the John Muir Wilderness is about 20 miles southwest from Bishop, California.
Here is a brief summary of our route: South Lake Trailhead - Bishop Pass - Dusy Basin - LeConte Canyon - Muir Pass - Evolution Valley - Puite Creek Canyon - Humphrey's Basin - Piute Pass - North Lake Trailhead. We passed more than a dozen lakes some of which I will mention when I upload photos.

Following winning the tender for Shrewsbury - Ellesmere route 501, Lakeside Coaches have acquired BT63UUS, an MCV Evolution bodied Volvo B7RLE.
This has upgraded to capacity on the route following initial operation with Optare Solo and Solo SR's.
This is very tidy inside and out. Certainly an upgrade when compared to the later days of GHA operation.
BT63UUS was latterly with Webberbus in Bridgwater.

Evolution Lake, John Muir Wilderness, Kings Canyon National Park, California.
This image is part of my Sequoia and Kings Canyon set.
Evolution Basin is one of the Sierra Nevada's crown jewels. From the end of Evolution Lake to Muir Pass are wonders to behold. Pristine lakes, bubbling streams and creeks, spectacular wildflowers, majestic and sheer granite landforms, this area has them all.
Here, stands of Mountain Heather and Paintbrush blossom by a small stream which flows directly into Evolution Lake and the John Muir Trail wends its way along the granite outcrops which surround the lake. All days on this planet are special but this particular day was a day to remember for its glorious and awe-inspiring beauty.
This image was made in 2008 on the third day of a five-day backpack from South Lake to North Lake. It is a single image made with a Nikon D40 and Nikkor 18-200mm.

The other day I heard that Ray Dolby passed away, any hard core music lover will know that he was an engineer and inventor of the noise reduction system known as Dolby NR.
I really wanted to create a picture that was music related and themed, through out the day various ideas popped in my head but the one that stood out the most was the evolution of music formats. So I created an evolution of my music.
My first introduction to music was through Vinyl, which moved on to cassettes, to Cd's, to mini disc and then to mp3, wonder what will be next???
I thought this would be easy to take, but it wasn't…I created a stencil with a music note and used a desktop lamp to light the top and used a torch to light in from the front and used some lights, which I hung on a clothes rail for the Bokeh effect….However when I had the stencil on I found that the only part of my picture was coming out and that was the Bokeh music notes…eventually, after many attempts I decided to use my Cokin holder and cut a piece of card to fit that…I cut the bottom half off and left the top with the music note on and it worked.
I took it in LR and brought the exposure down a bit and used the saturation tool to bring the colour down, but used the erase function to bring the colour back out in the El Wire and the Screen of the Ipod as you can see my mixtape cover…
This one is for Ray Dolby….

This is a resin kit which came complete but in very sad condition. The original paint finish hadn't taken too well leaving a rather pock-marked surface which needed a large amount of preparation.
The interior was even more sad and needed a lot of TLC before it could be refinished.
A satisfying result, finished in Iwan Jones' usual colours.
I love seeing where they come from, to what they look like at their peak!
Those huge heads, so layered, all coming out of this one bud... it NEVER ceases to amaze me.
The evolution, the unfurling, the GRAND opening...
The peony is the only genus in the flowering plant family Paeoniaceae. They are native to Asia, Southern Europe and western North America but grow very well here too, Peonies are actually very easy to grow; once established they can tolerate drought and suffer from very few diseases.
Colours range from pure white through baby pinks and palest peaches to clear deep pink and darkest rich maroon. There is also a pale yellow but it is rare.
Peonies are only available between late May and early July, so get them while you can!
They are very thirsty flowers, so make sure you top up the vase or bowl.
The Greeks believed they could cure over 20 ailments and were found in every monastery garden.
Peonies have been cultivated for over 2,000 years, more for their medicinal qualities than for ornament.
The Japanese protect the earliest peony blooms from the snow by protecting them with individual small thatched shelters. Some geishas used to wear special peony colours.
The Chinese name for peony is "sho yu" which means "most beautiful" and they idolised this flower.
The common thread is that the flower always denotes luxury and indulgence.
Went for again for a dramatic lighting, to make them 'different' from other flower images...
My favourite... Lol, thank you for your time and comments, M, (*_*)

Hippeastrum, these plants are popularly but erroneously known as Amaryllis and are cultivars of bulbous plants in the family Amaryllidacea.
The botanical name Amaryllis is taken from a shepherdess in Virgil's pastoral "Eclogues"(An eclogue is a poem in a classical style on a pastoral subject.
Poems in the genre are sometimes also called bucolics. Virgilius wrote the Bucolica, consisting of 10 Eclogues).
As a flower symbol it has come to mean "Dramatic", which seems most fitting here!
Hippeastrum is a popular bulb flower for indoor growing, it is Greek for "horseman's star" (also known today as "knight's star").

"Evolution ?" Back after a great trip to the Kruger Park in Satara camp, we had good game viewing but unfortunately no Cats! These 2 little Baboons kept us entertained one morning as they played and wrestled in the road. — at Africa Photographic Travel.
``Free software'' is a matter of liberty, not price. To understand the concept, you should think of ``free'' as in ``free speech,'' not as in ``free beer.''
Free software is a matter of the users' freedom to run, copy, distribute, study, change and improve the software. More precisely, it refers to four kinds of freedom, for the users of the software:
* The freedom to run the program, for any purpose (freedom 0).
* The freedom to study how the program works, and adapt it to your needs (freedom 1). Access to the source code is a precondition for this.
* The freedom to redistribute copies so you can help your neighbor (freedom 2).
* The freedom to improve the program, and release your improvements to the public, so that the whole community benefits (freedom 3). Access to the source code is a precondition for this.

Just look what it's done for them humans, billions of the buggers, wanna go star trekking but they still have to deal with religious fanatics, war, greed, mortgages, insurance, hatred, abuse, pharmaceuticals burying cures for treatment (how much are they making out of Covid, and what do they know about it's actual origin?), the list just goes on and on. Damn that, us monkeys have been going on fine for millions of years, just keep moving, eat, not get eaten, simple.
Progress, it's just a bandaid word for control and suffering.
Be a meandering monkey, you'll feel better for it XD
Mt. Mendel, Evolution Basin, Kings Canyon National Park, California.
This is another in my JMT series. It is a panorama best viewed in its large size. Please view my other JMT images in my JMT set.
This is a stitch of four single exposures made with a Nikon D7000 and Tokina 11-16mm.
I lingered at McClure Meadow for far too long and found myself hustling up the switchbacks out of Colby Meadow up to Evolution Lake. Even before I arrived at this site, the ridge had been on fire for many minutes and I stopped liberally to make images. This site is a little tarn right next to Evolution Lake. Immediately after I made these images I would set up camp for the night, cook and eat dinner and then set up my camera to capture the alpenglow over Mt. Mendel and Mt. Darwin.

Dass die Evolution des Menschen noch nicht vorbei ist, liegt so ziemlich auf der Hand. Dass Karl-Heinz die Krone der Schöpfung darstellt, will jetzt wohl auch keiner mehr abstreiten.

I'm in a very creative and inspired 'state' of mind at the moment, tee hee.
I really had fun with these in Studio Indigo.
LYSIANTHUS , unfurling in front of your eyes.
Originating in the West Indies, Mexico, and Central and South America, the flower is known botanically as Eustoma grandiflorum.
The common name comes from the Greek words lysis, meaning 'dissolution' and anthos, meaning 'flower'.
Colours include white, light and dark pink, lavender and deep purple. Double and single-flower varieties exist.
THANK YOU, M, (*_*)
