When a white painted bike appears somewhere, it was put there as a memento to an accident in which a cyclist was killed. It makes me very sad every time I pass by such a place.
I must say however that if we really want to reduce the number of deadly accidents with cyclists, then it is not helpful to point fingers only at car and lorry drivers while ignoring the cavalier attitude many cyclists display concerning safety. Bike lanes should be used, helmets should be worn, lights should be used at the front and the rear, bicycles should be maintained, easily visible clothing should be worn rather than black spandex, and there should be general understanding that traffic rules are there for a reason.
Every victim of a traffic accident is one too many, and things must change. We can't just go on with the old mindset and hope that somehow things will get better even if we don't, because that is not going to happen.

Every night in my dreams
I see you, I feel you,
That is how I know you go on
Far across the distance
And spaces between us
You have come to show you go on
Near, far, wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on
Once more you open the door
And you're here in my heart
And my heart will go on and on
Love can touch us one time
And last for a lifetime
And never let go till we're gone
Love was when I loved you
One true time I hold to
In my life we'll always go on
Near, far, wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on
Once more you open the door
And you're here in my heart
And my heart will go on and on
You're here, there's nothing I fear,
And I know that my heart will go on
We'll stay forever this way
You are safe in my heart
And my heart will go on and on

Every now and then we seem to detect something mysterious, something special, and maybe even sad about the performers we come across on the streets. This young lady in Denver may well be one of the most delightful and vivacious personalities in the whole of Denver, Colorado, yet in her general appearance, in the distant stare of her eyes, in the quiet manner in which she performed seemingly unaware of those who were watching....I "imagined" a sad and soulful singer of ballads, of lonely times, of loves lost to time. If you know or knew this talented singer from the streets of Denver, perhaps you'll share a word or two with us in the Flickr community about the gifts she possessed.
Every year, on a midaugust night, with calm sea, full moon and the breeze coming from the surrounding hills, everybody in Celle comes to the seashore and put a candle, and a related wish, into the water letting them floating away.
Many thanks in advance to everyone who will pass by visiting my shots. Comments are appreciated. You are welcome!

in February, following about a week of almost blizzard-like conditions, with relentless NE winds and drifting snow, we were told that it was going to warm up, but that some areas might experience freezing rain in the interim period. They were correct! This is what we woke up to see!
It was VERY slippery out!!! When I went out to take pictures, I took a shovel along as a 3rd leg, jamming it into the ice in front of me every step I took.(17-02-09-6599)

Every year we cut our Christmas tree on our property... this is the hub carrying it back to the house. We cut down a pretty scruffy pinyon pine this year.
Every year between Christmas and New Year, Autorijschool in Heerlen opens the doors of its model train world to the public. Miniature cities, landscapes and railway stations crossed by trains of all types are a delight for young and old!
Outskirts of Van
"Three more AA guns in the clearing to the southeast."
"That puts the total up to seven. Wasn't the 12th Light supposed to clear them out?"
"They took out the two to the southwest."
'That's-"
"Shit! They took out bird two. Ali, get another UAV up, the 19th Calvary needs an eye in the sky."
"Tamam."
Reuters- In preparation for a presumed UAC assault on the city of Van, Federation forces have begun to increase UAV surveillance in the entire region. So far, Federation advances south of Van have been pushed back by dug in IPC/UAC forces, while UAC attempts to regain portions of the city have been thwarted by the increased UAV presence.
Every Christmas Day I take a walk with the dog from home. I’ve been doing this for nearly 40 years and I’m now on my fourth dog. The walks are shorter now due to old age. When I first started I would walk to the neighbouring village of Long Marston, then find my way along the lanes to Marsworth and the Grand Union canal, returning home along the towpath.
This year I simply walked around the village, extending my normal routine to go along the Long Marston Road as far as the village boundary and West End Hill.
The last couple of years I’ve taken a film camera, but the conditions were just too dismal for that. The next best thing is my trusty Olympus set to “grainy film” black and white mode. It’s a bit more forgiving of poor light conditions.
I know this sounds bleak but I’ve really noticed a decline in the local environment in those 40 years so I decided to try and reflect this in my Christmas Day images. I’ve deliberately looked for the run down, neglected, overgrown and overshadowed by infrastructure. Not exclusively so don’t scratch your head wondering why I’ve included some of the images in this series, it could just be something off topic that caught my eye on my walk……
Oh and I will be copying and pasting this lengthy explanation on each of the images in this series. If you’ve lasted out to the end of this dialogue - congratulations!

Every time I try a similar shot against the summer sun, I believe that it is going to be the last for my camera's sensor ... And every time I cast a glance at the shot, after uploading it onto my hard disk, thank God I get absolutely disconfirmed ... Nikon D90 proves to be a tough nut to crack !!!
Beautiful summer ambient lighting conditions .. A game of late afternoon light and natural shapes that gradually turn themselves into shadows !!!!

Watercolour on 140 lb. Arches, C.P.
I did this painting a little while ago. The blossoms were painted first, and then the background. Now I usually try to paint them both simultaneously so the background does not scare me to death.
Every breath you take
Every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take
I'll be watching you
Every single day
Every word you say
Every game you play
Every night you stay
I'll be watching you
Oh, can't you see
You belong to me
How my poor heart aches
With every step you take
Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
I'll be watching you
Since you've gone I've been lost without a trace
I dream at night I can only see your face
I look around but it's you I can't replace
I feel so cold and I long for your embrace
I keep crying baby, baby please
Oh, can't you see
You belong to me
How my poor heart aches
With every step you take
Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
I'll be watching you
Every move you make
Every step you take
I'll be watching you

Taking off, flying and landing - every motion of this owl is very enchanting to me. Some of these are fuzzy, but I don't care. The poses are what appeals to me in these photos...and they are reminders of a time when I have been sitting on the ground mesmerized by their antics.
Every summer I spend a couple of weeks at my wife's mother's place outside Härnösand, Sweden, which is about 500 km to the north of where we live.
She has a huge garden so I always find lots of interesting stuff to shoot there, but my favourite bugs of all there is the European wool carder bees (Anthidium manicatum).
They are a bit unusual as the females (like this one) gather hairs from certain plants to line their nests with which has made the males set up a territory around suitable flowers and when females come there to harvest the hairs he mates with them. Other insects like bumblebees, hoverflies - and other males - are agressively chased away. This has led to the males being significantly larger than the females - something quite rare among bees.
Previously I have only found these arond the flowering house leeks and they have been quite chill tere, but this year we came up therea little early and the house leeks unfortunately hadn't started blossoming yet.
I was thus very happy when I found some lamb's ears (Stachys byzantina) where there were several of these bees buzzing around!
Here their movement was quite different though with the females flying from flower to flower, only stopping for two or three seconds before continuing to another flower which necessitated a quite different approach to shooting. Standing on my knees with the camera set I tried anticipating which flower she was going to next and as soon as she landed I lunged forward, trying to get her in focus and snap a shot before she took off.
Needless to say, this meant a huge bunch of wasted shots, but enough of them still came out alright, although it was quite exhausting to shoot like this in the heat (and with my knees on gravel).
I tip my hat if you have read this far - well done. Since I got a couple of shots of the male jumping on top of a female like this for some brief sexy time (he literally only lasted about four seconds), those will follow shortly (hopefully).
