Thanks for all the lovely comments and faves on my images and have a safe, happy weekend everyone.

As usual I had my 105 lens on the camera yesterday evening as I took a stroll after work, but this beautiful blackbird let me get amazingly close before he flew away!

www.flickr.com/photos/joanatkinson/ one for you Joan, though he's not as colourful as your beauty!

Backyard visitor and a lifer! A large flock of Evening Grosbeaks are enjoying the feeders in the backyard. What a thrill!

The late evening sun casting shadows on on an adventurous tendril of grapevine as it tumbles over the back fence of a suburban garden.

I always seem to screw up the whites on these birds

Don't ever post both a colour and b&w version of the same image, but thought I would for this one, as the evening light really brought out the vibrancy of the scene

Undulating Eifel landscape!

I’m slowly coming to terms with landscape photography... but like everything else it needs practice.

My grandson is a horn player.

Written on one side of one of his T shirts is the following...

‘How do you get to Carnegie Hall?’

On the other side ...

‘Practice, practice,practice’!

And I am! And need to!

The oldest recorded Evening Grosbeak was a male, and at least 16 years, 3 months old when he was found in New Brunswick in 1974.

They came to the backyard to celebrate Canada 150 Day with us :-)) Isle Lake Alberta

The Blackheaded arrive 2 days before the Evening Grosbeak but I didn't have my camera ready. I'm going to have my D500 ready with this lens, I know the tracking better. Of 47 images of the Blackheaded Grosbeak, not one was worth posting from the Z7II (all due to the settings)

wrong EXIF data:

Used the Samyang 12mm f2 on this image

A heavyset finch of northern coniferous forests, the Evening Grosbeak adds a splash of color to winter bird feeders every few years, when large flocks depart their northern breeding grounds en masse to seek food to the south. The yellow-bodied, dusky-headed male has an imposing air thanks to his massive bill and fierce eyebrow stripe. The female is more subtly marked, with golden highlights on her soft gray plumage. This declining species is becoming uncommon, particularly in the eastern United States.

Thank you for your visit, comment or fave, all are much appreciated.

Evening Fog

18 December 2017, Baddesley Clinton, Warwickshire

Bringing down the white balance about 1000 degrees from daylight makes this evening view of mix of lighting (sunset, blue hour, and city lights on the clouds, quite magical I think.

Taken in Panama City Beach, FL.

Evening

I went for a sunset walk yesterday evening, it's great to get out and take some of this sort of shot, it seems to have been so windy this summer I've hardly had any opportunities.
