The first Evening Grosbeak I have photographed in my yard, Yakima County Washington. This is a beautiful male. The buds on the flowering crabapple leave an interesting pattern of shadows on this birds back. IMG_4806
Once again a stormy evening sky got really dramatic, this time as I was walking down to the point (northern tip) on the central Bamberg island in Erba Park where the canal and the river come together. I had my Lumix mFT camera along, and it did a good job of catching the drama. It was a little after 6 p.m., about 20 minutes before sunset. In post-processing I took a white balance reading in the clouds since auto WB in Lightroom and the camera both failed to get anywhere close. So the photo recaptures pretty much what I saw with my own eyes last evening. [P1020701_lr_2000]

Another shot from my walk across the local fields the other evening. The evening sunlight was gorgeous.
