Summer sundown at Idaho's Benewah Lake. Mt. Plummer in the distance.
In addition to great fishing this is one of the marshes where the highly regarded St. Maries Wild Rice is grown.
The long train trestle in the distance is still used to haul logs between St. Maries and Plummer.

Evening grosbeaks are a very unusual species in my neck of the world. I spotted a flock of 51 going after juniper berries.
A male Evening Grosbeak (Coccothraustes vespertinus) is observed in the boreal woods north of Thorhild, Alberta, Canada.
