The 2d Infantry Division’s 23rd Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive Battalion conducted a combined Decontamination External Evaluation with U.S. manuever units from August 1 to 9, 2015. 23rd CBRNE Bn. units tested their capabilities to decontaminate various battalions across Area 1. Equipment being decontaminated are helicopters, armored vehicles, field artillery guns, and Air Defense Artillery trucks. The training was centrally located at Rodriguez Live Fire Range wash rack. Conducting night decontamination operations tests our abilities as a battalion to service multiple types of equipment to help them make ready to “Fight Tonight.”

Soldiers and Airmen assigned to the Virginia National Guardâs Fort Pickett-based 34th Civil Support Team conduct a Training Proficiency Evaluation Oct. 26, 2016, at Camp Pendleton in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Unit members were evaluated on 12 different collective tasks including deploying the team, establishing communications and medical support, conducting survey, technical decontamination and analytical functions as well as conducting interagency coordination. The evaluation was supervised by U.S. Army Northâs Civil Support Readiness Group-East in order to validate the unit's level of readiness. The 34th CST mission is to support first responders in potential biological, chemical, nuclear, radiological and explosive incidents and the team undergoes an evaluation approximately every 18 months. Third meeting of the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (JMEC), held in Juba on 12 January 2016 and chaired by Festus Mogae, JMEC Chairperson and former President of Botswana.
Attendees included members of the SPLM/A, SPLM/A-IO, Ambassadors from the diplomatic community in South Sudan; Ellen Margarethe Loej, Special Representative of the Secretary-General in South Sudan and Head of UNMISS; members of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Monitoring and Verification Team; women leaders; religious leaders; and other members of Civil Society.
In his opening statement, Mr. Mogae warned of a looming risk of heightened food insecurity "because of restrictions on aid convoys and due to insecurity" and appealed to the rival forces to "ensure complete and unconditional cooperation with the humanitarian agencies so that this deficiency can be remedied before it is too late."

This is my final image for the 50 Layers challenge which I created in photoshop. The image is based on the myth about mermaids, and the idea that they appear pretty to lure people in and then drown them. I have hinted at this theme by splitting the image into two halves: the top half shows a serene and romantic scene, with the girl and the mermaid. However, the bottom half of the image is darker and shows several different mermaids in a murky ocean. There is a skull in the foreground and a man drowning in the background. The image is made to look like a movie poster, with the title of the movie at the bottom of the image along with a tagline, fake website and logos from production companies. I think I achieved what I set out to do, as I think it does look like an official movie poster, and I think the scene itself looks realistic.
I have learned a lot of different photoshop skills and techniques throughout the process. For example, I have gotten used to using different groups of layers for different sections of the image to make it easier to work with and edit. I had some difficulty when placing the main mermaid, as I used two separate images for her. I couldn't find a way to attach the tail to her body without it looking out of proportion and unrealistic, so I instead decided to use a ripple and splashing effect to cover part of her body. Overall I am happy with my use of the software as I was already used to it in the beginning, but creating this image helped me get used to different shortcuts and techniques that I usually wouldn't use.
I am especially happy with the main mermaid, as even though it was difficult for me to make her seem realistic, in the end she turned out well. If I could redo the idea now, I would find a different image of a girl to make it easier for me to attach a tail.
