For a time in 1979, several Delaware & Hudson GP39-2’s showed up in Conrail service. A few Conrail B23-7’s were spotted on D&H trains, so I believe that these were loans for evaluation, especially since Conrail was beginning to replace its first- and early second-generation fleet. Here two D&H GP39-2’s join a Conrail U30B on the Saucon Drill in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, while a PB&NE switcher/slug set work in the background. The EMD’s are no strangers to these tracks, having begin their lives as Reading units.

The greater kudu (Tragelaphus strepsiceros) is a woodland antelope found throughout eastern and southern Africa. Despite occupying such widespread territory, they are sparsely populated in most areas, due to a declining habitat, deforestation and poaching.
Their habitat includes mixed scrub woodlands (the greater kudu is one of the few largest mammals that prefer living in settled areas – in scrub woodland and bush on abandoned fields and degraded pastures, mopane bush and acacia in lowlands, hills and mountains.
Their diet consists of leaves, grass, shoots and occasionally tubers, roots and fruit (they are especially fond of oranges and tangerines).
During the day, greater kudus normally cease to be active and instead seek cover under woodland, especially during hot days. They feed and drink in the early morning and late afternoon, acquiring water from waterholes or roots and bulbs that have a high water content. Although they tend to stay in one area, the greater kudu may search over a large distance for water in times of drought.
Predators of the greater kudu generally consist of lions, hyenas, and hunting dogs. Although leopards and cheetahs also prey on greater kudus, they are unable to bring down a bull, and consequently target the more vulnerable cows and offspring.
Greater kudus have a life span of 7 to 8 years in the wild, and up to 23 years in captivity. They are evaluated as low risk in the IUCN Red List of endangered species. Wikipedia

I've used a lot of cameras from the fifties and sixties, and there are plenty of mediocre cameras to be found - shoddily engineered and with really poor lenses. But I can assure you, the Kodak Retina IIC from 1958 is not one of those. The sharpness of the Rodenstock Retina-Heligon lens is exceptional, and it has great contrast and flare resistant. The camera itself is a precision instrument, made to last for decades. I expect this IIC has another 60 years of service in it, at minimum. Such a pleasure to use, too.
This is the well marked subspecies of G. c. cyanota found in SE India and the Western Ghats Mountains. The Orange-headed Thrush is ripe for taxonomic evaluation, biogeography, and unique plumaged populations. These birds were photographed in the Western Ghats, Kerala, India.

Evaluating the combination of Adox CHS 100 II and Crawley's FX-15 developer (1:1 for 10 minutes)
Resolution is excellent, grain structure is smooth and not too pronounced (Looks finer/smoother than Thornton 2-bath gave). Good tonal scale, and about half a stop speed boost.

In the hundreds of eagle photos I have taken over the years, very few times have I had the privilege of having one fly directly at me overhead. Most times, when eagles spot a human pointing a black tube at them, they veer off in one direction or another.
This particular eagle was perched on a mid-sized tree across a small lake about 75 yards away. He spotted my vehicle as I stopped alongside the road and got out to take a few photos with my telephoto lens.
After several minutes, I was about to get back into my vehicle when he lifted from his perch in the tree and began a slow, but deliberate, flight path directly toward me.
I took this shot as he approached and when I saw how intently he was evaluating me, I decided I had taken enough shots.

This bluejay was trying to figure out how to leap down onto the side of the woodpeckers dining room...
This Cades Cove Crow was perched on a favorite fence post (I'm not sure I've seen crows perch on anything else in the cove.) and sees to be looking for drier lands off in the distance. I, on the other hand, was quite happy with the rain. I've been starting to really enjoy photographing wildlife on rainy days. So much added texture and behavior from the wildlife. Just need good bags for the lenses. :)

As a Google map user, I upload a lot of evaluations and photos of the places I visited. I also love to register a list of places I want to visit, such as a delicious restaurant in a land that I have never been to yet. When I'm doing that, I get a lot of questions from Google. Is there a toilet here? Or something? Can we have a barbecue? And how about accessing in a wheelchair? And so on.
I take a picture so that I don't forget it, so even if I look at it later, I don't know what kind of picture it is, and I realize that this is the effect of aging and alcohol.
CPKC's Track Evaluation Train, or TEC Train, passes by the Hansen-Mueller Grain Elevator as it arrives at CPKC's Knoche Yard, headed for North Ramp Track 201 to tie down for the day. This train came south down the Kansas City Sub this morning, testing the track for alignment and proper geometry. 11/22/24.
A small train in a vast landscape. All 12 axles of CN train O999 fit between the hills and curves north of Grainger, something that is normally not possible with the normal trains that traverse this subdivision.
After having tested the Three Hills Sub the previous day, CN's Track Evaluation train deadheads back north to Mirror. CN has assigned a veteran GP38-2W, still wearing a faded Zebra stripes, as the test train's power.
