This is a small zinc etching done with white lithium grease as the only ground. I put small gobs of grease on the plate and then used a small bone scrap book burnisher to play around with the grease and make lines with it revealing the plate underneath. After doing that I used spray paint to aquatint it and kept it in 14:1 acid for fifteen minutes.

The etching bath: 3 cups (1.5 L) of warm tap water with 2 tbsp (30 mL) of table salt dissolved in it, in a plastic jar. It's powered by a DC power supply, 12V, 1A max.

This is a set of brass plates that I etched using the electrolytic etching process outlined at steampunkworkshop.com/electroetch.shtml
I created the Justice themed copper plates, and added the two plates to moleskin notebooks for a lawyer I know.
