Nice thing about being in Texas, I was able to stop into the local saddle shop and pick up some scrap leather to test laser etching on.
Laser Intensity max setting is 255 - I had it on 150 for this leather etch test.
My 8 year old daughter is really into this type of latte art, which is called "etching" usually with drawing chocolate designs on top of frothed milk
These images of nude bodies, etched with acid into the window of the R train, represent "art in places" at its best. I don't know how hard the process is, but I do wish that more artists would try this. The effect was truly beautiful.

this is all a bit fucked up,
i put this into the acid and i guess i didn't dilute the acid well, it ended up eating away at a lot of the paint. so now it looks a lot rawer and more 'pixily'.
this print isn't a great proof of the plate either, i did a bit of uneven wiping around her head and shoulder that makes it look like a shaft of light coming down on her, or something.
but i thought i'd post this pic anyway, just to show, ya know, that i am doing *something* with my time haha.
in the future i think i'll redo the plate completely. there was 7 layers with this and the more layers means the harder to maintain features when spraying onto the plate. you end up with too much paint on the plate too quickly and early on, so all the last layers, highlights and such, don't mean squat because of it.
