ACTUAL-

My guess is that i had the print ink the car, which is one way to use it. It’s lost but not really lost.

___

- i put in three photo sizes as a test to find the one that read as 'actual size'.

- decided i wanted to show the detail, so the one chosen is bigger than the original.

- love this paper.

___

[ don- was this etching in one of the coffeeT shows? probably can find out from show folder records.

all of these recent prints were considered awful prints to me, so i went back and tried to rejuvenate them which entailed printing numerous layers on top of the existing layer.

I picked this up at auction at De Zwaan, because I liked the texture. The work is untitled, but originally was part of a portfolio of six etchings of different size and color.

Reissues of etchings by Jean Lepautre (1618-1682) of interior furnishings. These images are reversed and do not bear Lepautre's name or the French publisher from 1751. These are probably from a Dutch 1786 edition by S. Bosboom.

I got my etching supplies from Graphic Chemical last week and made my first etched plate today. The image is of an actual grave stone in a very secluded wooded area in Rockland County, NY.

The plate is 1/16" x 3" x 4" cut from an old letterpress half-tone plate. The former front of that plate is now the back, of course. I'll be buying plates in the future but a friend of mine gave me some of these that his father had kept for years as scrap metal. They were useless for their intended purpose but work great for practice here. They do have some issues and I cleaned and flattened what is now the face but without going to Herculean efforts. For the moment they're more than satisfactory.

A species of giant sea spider, the species of Colossendeis living in abyssal Polar Regions can grow to have a leg span of up to 50cm. Though mobile, they are surprisingly slow, and search out stationary prey such as anemones. The rearmost pair of ‘legs’ are actually ovipositors, used by the male of the species to incubate eggs deposited by the female.
