Finely etched copper, hand sawn with an oxidized patina added to inhance the floral design.
I designed and created this pendant in my Pacific Northwest studio. It is hung by a 16 inch rubberized black necklace.

Glass is a largely non-reactive and made up of SiO2. Etched glass is made by exposing it to highly-reactive Hydrofluoric acid in gaseous form. The acid reacts with the glass to form SiF4 and water.
The back of my copper plate, which I neglected to spray paint before putting in the acid. This is after it had sat in my drawer in the Dolphin building for a couple of weeks. Gnarly.
One of the things I was looking for this weekend when out garage saling....a large glass bowl to put our wine corks in. I found this one for fifty cents.
