I have no idea what process can etch the hard surface of glass.

I love this kind of wineglass but never have any luck keeping it from breaking

1080 High Carbon Steel. Heat treatment is done. Knife was given a patina by soaking in boiling white vinegar for 2 cycles of 15 minutes. Sharped on a water stone. Just needs a handle now.
