Ester Gunhild Sahlin (1881-1959) was a Swedish stage actress.
Born 5 August 1881 in Västra Sallerup parish, Ester Sahlin was the daughter of dye works owner Carl Petter Sahlin and Maria Persson. She was the younger sister of Albert Sahlin, Emil Sahlin and half-sister of Carl Sahlin. Along with the writer Nils Döven Selander, the journalist John Hertz, the artist Birger Palme, the musician David Lundahl and a few others, Sahlin was part of the circle of Ivar Arosenius, Ole Kruse and Gerhard Henning, who in the autumn of 1901 formed something of an artist's coterie in Gothenburg. Arosenius fell madly in love with her. For a time, she and their relationship were a recurring motif in his art. In 1903 she finally broke off the relationship and began an acting career, 1903-1905 as an employee of Julia Håkansson's and Tore Svennberg's travelling theatre company and 1905-1906 at Julia Håkansson's theatre. In 1909 she joined Albert Ranft's theatre empire in Stockholm, where she first worked at the Vasa Theatre and the Swedish Theatre and played several notable roles, including in comedy, often under direction of Knuth Nyblom. After Ranft's financial collapse in 1925, she worked at the Oscar Theatre in 1926-1928 and in 1929-1932 she was employed by Radiotjänst's first permanent acting ensemble, which made her known to a wider public.
In 1910-1922 Ester Sahlin was married to Director Erik Killander and from 1928 until her death she was married to Consul General Thorsten Lundgren. She was buried at Norra begravningsplatsen outside Stockholm. As far as known, she didn't act in film.
